@aspyr56813 жыл бұрын
Patrick, will there ever be a video in which you're not talking bullshit about evidently bad instruments? No offense to you, it's just pretty clear you lack integrity and frankly it's a shame because you have a growing community here and you're feeding them misinformation based on which they'll make bad decisions and buy basses such as this one, only to be extremely disappointed when they take it in their hands and see the truth. I think you're smart enough to see through the facade of Cort's B series, so why pretend like they're good when they so very much aren't?
@patrickhunter3 жыл бұрын
Hahahahaha and how exactly do I lack integrity and how am I "feeding misinformation"? You're saying because you had apparently a bad experience with a certain brand then that means every single instrument is a dud and you should just blindly accuse people of having no integrity? Lol okay

@@patrickhunter Hi Partick, having not answered my question in relation to the B string on the A5 Ultra, could I please ask again because I do value your reviews. Yes, I can hear it but you have played it and I cannot get access to it anywhere near where I live. So please do let me know your opinion on its B string, thank you.
@patrickhunter3 жыл бұрын
@@terryadley4709 Hey Terry! The B string felt solid when I played it, I'm honestly not huge on five strings and don't have a whole lot of experience with different 5-string basses, but it felt really good to me when I was playing it
@terryadley47093 жыл бұрын
@@patrickhunter Thank you for your take on the B string Patrick, much appreciated. Great videos by the way, both in terms of your delivery and substance. Also, great style of bass playing on the A5 Ultra and others, especially that line on the Spector Dimension 5 which is really intoxicating. Thanks again.

Glad you are trying Cort out. They have been crushing it for years. You probably have played them before and not realized it, they make some of the Ibanez, Squier, G&L models.
@EversonBernardes3 жыл бұрын
They make a lot of stuff. If it's made in Korea, chances are likely it's made by Cort (since Samick, the other big contractor there, left a while ago and only does production elsewhere in SE Asia). Big one that a lot of people don't talk a lot about is PRS.

So many people have no idea that Cortek make the most basses in the world, but they're often badged as Fender, Ibanez and others. They are kitted up with the same (sometimes identical) components as much more expensive basses, which CAME FROM THEIR FACTORY with different brand names on them. Fluence pickups are quite the shiz, also.

Love 'em! Got a B4, sold it for an A4. Also got an A5 SCMS, amazing bass! Bought the A5 and an Ibanez EHB 1505MS - the Cort stayed and the Ibanez had to go! Aaaand there's one more: A Curbow from the 90ies with an EMG and without the onboard preamp! A friend wanted a Spector and his wife told him he can't have a new bass unless another bass goes :o] Lucky me! The Curbow is fascinating: luthite body, ebonol fretboard, weird. But the sound is extremely stable, if you know what I mean? And the neck is robust as well and doesn't react much to changes in temperature or humidity. This is the bass I take with me when I play outside, no matter the weather. But there's also one problem: intonation :( Check it with every Cort you get, but especially the ones with string though option, like your A5. There's very little space for adjustments and sometimes, Cort installs the Hipshot TransTone bridge a bit to close to the neck. This was the case with my first A4 (returned for another one). The bridge was about 1.3 mm off, so I couldn't get the E-string's intonation right (10 cents at the 12th fret was the closest I could get). Another A4 in the shop had the same problem. The one I got now is perfectly fine. But if the intonation on your Cort is alright - best bang for the buck!

I put a pair of Fishman Fluence in a Frankenbass I built and they are terrific.You can get a ton of sounds.If I were a younger bassist it would definitely be a consideration.I believe Pat saying that it's worth more than the price they charge.A lot of high end accouterments.The Fishman Fluence pups are about 400 bucks alone, making this nice looking bass even better.

I have an A4 made in Korea (black headstock) from 2004, absolutely love it. Recently I really wanted to buy a new bass, I've tried so many, from squires to 4k Spectors, Dingwalls, MM, Fenders, Ibanez, you name it. At the end, I've decided that none of them had a neck as good as my Cort A4, Spectors and Dingwall came close but still , chunkier neck. The only ones that actually I found good were the new headless CORT, it was a 5 strings but the neck felt very familiar and the Ibanez headless, which had a neck even better than my Cort, but, it turns out is short scale, so that explains it all :D I'll stick to my Cort, nothing can beat it!

I’ve heard that the upper fretboard region of the B string is sharp intonation-wise because you can’t move the Hipshot TransTone bridge’s saddle back far enough to lengthen the string the necessary distance. Did you find that to be the case?

That’s the reason I wait to buy one. Is this is true than is replacing the bridge a option?

I'm a big fan of Cort. They're great out the box, but I think that they are probably one of the best mod platform basses too. Really nice necks, great woods for bodies and necks, plus I love the cort headstock. Stick some Aguilars (or pickup of your choice) in a B5 or A4 and you've got a monster to run around stage with that didn't cost the earth to own.

If you haven't already, could you review the Schecter SLS Evil Twin, please? Sure, it's technically the same as the SLS Elite but aestheitcally there's a lot of differnece and it'd be cool to hear your views on the Evil Twin.
