Create mod has made the most common circuits (per example pulse extenders, monostable and flip-flops) into special repeater-like components and it's such a game changer for me. Sometimes the new observer centric modern redstone is just too much for me, having these condensed components makes it so much more intuitive, specially if you're making space efficient circuits

I never heard the dual edge term before! Observers detected the redstone, but they do all block updates, like when water is in front of them, when logs are pushed onto leaves connected to them, and much more! Also, the sculk telegraph is new to me, and I never built one of those before! There is one design of rising edge you did not cover in the video that is well-known, and your explanation of monostable circuits was pretty cool! I did not know they were called monostable circuits!

I actually used one of the designs to make a combination lock. If you take the kind that you see in the thumbnail and put them one after the other, whatever input you make will be the next number in a sequence of binary. well, an observer IS a monostable circuit. That can be activated by any form of block state change, except for fill level, or redstone signal strength level (except for redstone dust, where it actually involves a visual indicator, hence shows as a block state change) for some reason. I'm partially thankful for that, while partially surprised. That said, to convert any rising edge/falling edge circuit to the opposite, is a pretty simple change in most cases. Usually a redstone torch and some dust is enough for it. For dual edge, you'd simply have to either include an observer that detects both changes, since that's a 1 block dual edge circuit as you've said too, or connect both states (active/passive) to the output. Still, the one thing I use monostable circuits for, is the toggle functionality. Because I like having note blocks as buttons, since they look so much better than levers. Especially in a build that has so much wood in it, like the indoors parts of most of my builds. Your explonation about the subject matter is easy to understand, and sounds like a good explonation to beginners in redstone. Quite nice video.

This was very helpful because I was trying to make a pitfall trap but pressure plates take way to long to deactivate (it was a pitfall trap with signs and pistons and the fall only happens when the piston is deactivated) but with this it’s pretty much an instant pitfall (another thing is that I could have made a pitfall using observers but I was going to make this trap in an event where the nether is locked so sadly observers and comparators are out of the question)

Great video overall - my only suggestion is please don't move or jolt the camera when demonstrating the redstone, as it makes it harder to see and the circuit has already finished by the time the camera stops moving. You could either move the button up a block so that the whole redstone is in view when pressing it, or use the Freecam mod to reposition the camera before pressing the button. Thanks. =)

What if you NEED that delay? Maybe you need to wait for something to be moved out of the way before you can do whatever the circuit does. Like a flush piston door.

It's useful if you want to send a signal when a machine turns off but don't want that to happen when it turns on. It's a little less commonly used than rising edge, but it's still pretty common.

I never liked the term "monostable". While it is true that the circuit only has one stable state, that is not the important aspect of the circuit IMO. The most important aspect is consistent output pulse duration, regardless of input pulse duration, or having a variety of different input pulse durations. When I was first learning about this stuff, having a more appropriate name would have saved me a ton of time in understanding this circuit. Why are longer names avoided when they can be shortened? I wish they would just call it "stable pulse generator" circuit, SPG circuit for short.

Hmmm... The problem is that you've taken the term "monostable circuit" and used it exclusively to describe a "one tick pulse limiter". So that's quite misleading ... A monostable circuit is one that always returns to its original state. What it does in the meantime is irrelevant - it could give out a really long pulse, randomly give between 0 and 100 pulses, play a song on a bunch of notebooks, etc... It's an understandable mistake because almost everyone makes it now. The wiki has a page that describes it correctly and one which describes it incorrectly. Go figure
