I'll be honest, the reason Dummynation became my favorite game instead of something like hoi4 was because of how simple it was but this update made the game completely unrecognizable.

The worst part is the simplification of the map, it used to have mountains and realistic detail so you could make realistic custom borders in custom games, but now it looks very blurred like it was drawn by a toddler.

@@BOOM42226look at the terrain map and compare it to the last version, all the rivers are way oversized and blury with no detail, which is essential to making cool natural borders for a custom nation. Everything is way blurred out and low detail compared to before. The ocean is the only thing that you can say looks “better”. All the geography details are super blurred out as well compared to before & might as well not even be there. Like a 2d pixelated mess with no sense of topography

Couple other things I'll add: - Open oceans are now incredibly slow (following the coast, and many land routes, are much faster than the open ocean). As Sonikku and I found out in his stream yesterday, this really isolates the Americas and makes them much more of a commitment to invade. Also, while I haven't tried them personally, I imagine this makes invading from the Americas or the south Pacific much harder - The bots have become much more passive, which massively prolongs the game. In all the games I've seen, the time where the strong countries would carve up Africa in the prior version (~2030-2040), nothing happens. I've seen the countries in Africa fight each other way more than the rest of the world fights them. Also for the landlocked micronations, again I haven't tried them myself, but I imagine this'll make the required start to beat them *much* rarer

I forgot to mention this, from what I've seen alliances are way less secure, and the AIs are way faster with defending their allies. In Sonikku's stream yesterday, I was attacking the UK in Namibia and Poland got there basically immediately. Also not great for completing the landlocked microstates (as well as Serbia, Bosnia, Kosovo, and Switzerland)

I have also noticed something else while trying to conquer nations that uprisings and independence movements are much more common making it nearly impossible for even middle sized nations to maintain themselves even if they become large . It’s severely harder to win now

@@VeryMuchCraft funny you brought up bosnia, because bosnia isn't actually land-locked. It has sea access into the mediterranean sea, although small, it is not land-locked which is so frustrating because this game acts like bosnia has no sea access 😅

@@maxdragneel6 What I do to stop rebellions is concede the smallest circle of land I can (conceding the least valuable land they had) to each country I completely take over. It can get tedious, but it'll save you troops

Yeah, you are completely correct corgi. I don’t like games that are really hard and you have to discover a lot different stuff in it which is the reason playing Dummynation, because of the simplicity. I hope the creator of the game changes it back. Fingers crossed 🤞

I think another major problem is the lag, if you're on PC, you might not see it as a problem but in mobile/tablet, it sure is. The game is extremely laggy and crashes so many times!

Yesterday before I installed the update (on mobile), I successfully did a world domination as St. Lucia. It was my first legend difficulty domination and I was so proud of myself. Now, however, the strategy I used just yesterday is virtually impossible due to the manpower requirement. Which I always felt was okay because, I mean, real life countries can and do hire mercenaries if they don't have manpower. What I did was I conquered around the Caribbean, and then allied Iran and took Qatar and Bahrain. Back then, Qatar's oil wealth gave me quite a head start in building a formidable army and take out more advanced opponents. Now, none of these countries can give me a good enough army. I really don't want this to become unplayable for tiny countries. It's okay, we don't need total accuracy

They lost me. I bought the game a couple weeks ago and instantly loved it for the simplicity, yet being incredibly addictive trying out different nations. I logged in last night to an entirely new game. I tried for a hour and a half as a few different nations and got nowhere. They have lost me.

The new map changes make the map look AMAZING. BUT now the country colors are now partially opaque revealing the grass/snow and such which makes it difficult to tell who is your friend anymore. I wish I can turn off opacity somehow. The game lets me customize soo many colors and things, so much so that I don't even know how to get the results I want

Not even hoi4 has a recruitment limit like this. Even in hoi4, you pick the template (which you can see metas of) and then just recruit them. You don't need to pay to maintain them and you can just spam stuff out. Even in hoi4! Why does dummy nation become harder than hoi4?!

❤ I mostly agree with your critique especially on the sliders for troops. My absolute favorite new feature is being able to fund rebellions but I'd also love to be able to fund Revolutions in countries that you're revolutions that are in countries that you have not declared war on

I have not played the new update, but in my mind the best ways to expand upon would have been adding supply, logistics, trade, and ships. Otherwise, my biggest ‘grype’ is I want to have more options for holding territories.

I agree with your points. I think the developer put much thought end effort into the update, but it lacks balancing and polishing. My biggest issue is that the ai feel like super machines that play on a different dimension than the player, and that the recruitment screen mixes reservist with active army.

So i started playing germany since the new update(i did not know anything at all about it) Usually im able to build up really quickly make stacks of troops and blitzkrieg the countries around it, by the time i get to france im comfortable to take on countries outside europe Since the new update it was constant fighting with local militia, so i could exactly blitzkrieg, and even though i was able to win some of the encounters i lost almost all of the military i had, france was a brick wall, everytime i was able to build up just enough to knock it out, the local militia would help its military so my military got wiped, i tried this multiple times to the point i ended up using nukes, and nuked apparently are more expensive to use as i could only use 2, i finaly was able to get france but then my military standing was decreasing, all the nations around me was, which was strange since ive never encountered a match pre update where you lose military amounts over time? So i ended up battling the statistics just to keep the military amount from declining The game doesnt feel the same as it used to which is sad, it was very simple and satisfying, and it didnt take too long, now it just feels too broken Hope the developers revert some of the changes

I do like the new research update, it makes u think more on what u should spend ur research on. The new troops are also cool obviously. However, everything else sucks. They shouldve just added new ideologies, allow u to make puppets in a normal game with certain mechanics, and allow u to improve the economy and gdp per capita more easily (maybe add new mechanics for it or smt idk which allows u to focus on that), as id always wanted to win with a high gdp per capita, but always had such a low one as the easiest way to win the game is through invading other countries, which eventually lowers ur gdp per capita as u get a higher population

My favourite game rn is Hoi 4. I think the depth is fun and getting better at the mechanics feels great.That doesn't mean I want every game to be as in depth as Hoi 4. Dummynation was always the game where I switched off and relaxed and now there are mechanics which I would argue are more complicated than things in Hoi 4. In short, Hoi 4 is great, not every game needs to be Hoi 4.

Bought and played the game for the first time yesterday, so as an entirely new player who bounced off hoi, I found this game fun, and I was playing my home nation of Australia, so a much worse start than France. The right side of all the UI sections shows the anual production, which is explained in the tutorial for the economy screen, but yeah, whats a helicopter do, it took some effort and number crunching to work out what units i wanted. Deplomacy didnt seem too bad, i was playing democratic with full freedom and i was making friends invading countries with low freedom, seemed fine, even though I mistakenly invaded countries that had too much freedom a few times and tanked my exchange rate, but buying off who I could afford fixed it to some degree and I started making a lot of money with very mediocre claimed territory. The UI is annoying yes, but the mechanics seem fun so far, and yes the pathing is not great. IDK about it taking a long time to play, just turn the speed up if you find yourself not doing anything right? But i was constantly doing things in my experience of the game, like wondering how tens of thousands of commandos die to militia lmao.

I’ll be honest, I wanted to play Call of Duty after this update because multiplayer was kinda dead. While my personal opinion is positive, and I want to figure out the new meta… public opinion from the people I trust the most (so you, Craft, Trix, Bills) when it comes to Dummynation… is overwhelmingly negative. I was also blindsided by the update timing. The multiplayer servers crashed while I was on stream, which apparently forced the update out because rebooting the servers only had the new update.
