When I get an offer, I always think... do I want to hang onto this another 3 months to get 3 more dollars? The answer is always no. I don't take extreme lowball offers, but I'm in business to sell stuff... not collect it. Great video, man!

Regarding taking offers: I tend to take all offers unless they are clearly sucker offers. I justify it by considering that I price things based on current listings; if it hasn't sold quickly I probably should not have bought it in the first place and I better get rid of it for some amount rather than no amount. There's a gray line between reseller and hoarder. I'm convinced I am not a hoarder.

The clothing category and other items being sold currently by the big box stores is brutal to compete against or to even keep up. That’s why I sell vintage , Rare items of different categories. I became picker first and a simple reseller second. The more knowledgeable you can be on vintage authentic items the easier it is to move items on eBay. I don’t have the man power or money 💰 to compete with brands currently sold 🆕 in stores right now.

The stores are having sales that are incredible right now on name brands and I can’t compete because of the shipping costs. Now regretting that I went retail arbitrage for everything name brands. One off items are the better choice.

@@Rapunzel122-s9wWhat stores are you referring to? I only see retail stores liquidating old inventory but the new fall winter stuff is full price.
@mihalyfreeman59282 ай бұрын
You can sell Vintage but do you really get the price you want? The answer is NO! I have quite a few Vintage items from the 70s 80s and have to keep dropping the price because not many people are going to buy a pair of levis 501xx for 60 - 80 bucks.

When I pick up big lots I do them first I sort them and start flying through them. I have money my cash flow tied up in those items, I want them out of here. Right now I have four totes full of clothes I have set the goal of twenty per night. The good thrift is having a sale on Friday that everything is 1.00 I could pick up another tote full, however, limiting it to certain items and brands this time. Old Navy used to be a good brand and now it has fallen off. Even after 8 years of doing ebay I messed up my sku system on a new category. All the boxes have the same sku, what a mess. At least there aren't that many boxes of them yet and I am glad I caught it now. Sells were good over the long weekend. Hope your doing good.
@HelosWorldRailroadReseller2 ай бұрын
Mine was a little slow. Sorry that sku system got messed up, sounds like you are on your way to getting it straightened up. Definitely some name brands have fallen off. I was at the Goodwill the other day and saw multiple nice Footjoy polo 2XL it hurt my feelings to leave them but you are in this game to make money. As always thanks for watching and commenting

I watched the whole video, and I agree with you. But sometimes I just sold things very cheap, with - 0 profit for me, and 100% gain for the buyers. I live a little far from the post office, the bags ... to use for the packing etc, etc, and it really hurt as a seller.
@HelosWorldRailroadReseller2 ай бұрын
My opinion is unless an item is highly desirable and rare does the seller try to get everything possible. Otherwise sell the item and move on to the next one. Thanks for watching

I try to list as I bring it in, but it can pile up! Seems to me everything I list eventually sells, I just pack my store and stuff sells along, since im long tail. Sears was treating customers like crap too. I stopped shopping there over 10 yrs ago. I feel like a lot of sellers are moving to whatnot lately. Folks are tired of playing games with these venues and are opting for the quick nickel . Can't say I blame them.

Orvis makes well made clothing, but I won't touch it with a ten foot pole. Had 3 really nice plaid shirts listed together. Sat there a year, finally pulled them off and added to the death pile. Plaid may be way over saturated. I have a Carhartt, Patagonia and a couple other high brand names under $20 not moving. Also Walmart killed Reebok resell.

Walmart has warehouses to store products. Is walmart in the storage business? I mentioned Walmart because it's one of the most successful retail businesses in the world. If everybody ran their business like you they'd put you out of business.
@robsomething44352 ай бұрын
@@ModelSeries Walmart is a poor example because of their scale. Of course they have warehouses, they need to. What they don't do is let aged inventory sit in those warehouses for very long. If it doesn't sell in a store they clearance / liquidate it and bring in fresh inventory. There is an opportunity cost to holding on to items for too long. I, and most successful businesses, would rather turn that same cost of goods over several times in the same time frame it may take you to sell your inventory trying to eek out every penny. That's how you compound your profits.
@ModelSeries2 ай бұрын
@@robsomething4435 Walmart runs a clearance on items in the store, but sometimes has a storage of the same items in their warehouses. Walmart inventory management will decide whether to store the item for a later date, or clerance it. To be honest with you I don't care how you run your business it's none of my business. I probably have advantages over you to where I don't have to be a flipper. A flipper seems like a horrible was to run a business and a slave mentality to my opinion. Flipping is good for some people on a tight budget, limited space, lack of back cashflow, or people who like higher stress environments. The number one thing for resellers is that they have to be somewhat happy reselling and if they are not, none of your advice serves any value.
