Washing those fire engines is quite a task. But it is fun, reaching way up with this long soapy brush really gives you a sense of how big and badass they are. I remember I used that gym a few times too and have played pool (and liar's dice) in that lounge with some buddies more times than I can count.

Maybe you can do an in-depth history of some stations? 12 years ago I moved from Europe to the US and there are a lot of differences. A lot of those differences are due to routines build up over the years. Most procedural changes happen after a large incident, so getting some more background would be greatly appreciated!

Everytime a shot when he says fiscally responsible. Renting it out is great when you have a lot of spare space and a big lot is great. Building the trucks out in addition to training and 300+ calls a year is a lot of work you put into something like this.

Are volunteer Fire Departments common in the US? I've heard of VFD stations some 10-20 miles from a major city. Here in Australia we have two types of Fire services; Bush Fire Services crewed by volunteers and common in rural towns and Fire and Rescue which are mostly crewed by professionals. Smaller towns have auxiliary fire crews who get paid only for call outs and some remote areas have volunteers. In bigger towns (20,000 people or more) there are generally a Fire and rescue service.

Why all of this for a volunteer station it’s identical to a full time paid fire station
@HeroesNextDoor3 жыл бұрын
The Fire station gets no income from the county or from taxes so everything out here is volunteer. They make their own decisions on what to buy and can do what they want with the money they make themselves.
