We don’t have the best sourcing in the winter here in rural Texas outside Fort Worth. Buuuuut, I have oversourced and also been given a lot. Now I’m organizing a ton & when I get the bug to source, I go open a box I haven’t opened yet and get excited over what’s there 😂. Ready to get it all listed, so I can do the big sale up by y’all next year
@gaylebartlett463110 ай бұрын
I buy buy buy and have a giant death pile... I only have a short season of yard sales, so I buy as much as I can... then I list over the winter. I also do a weekly trip to a thrift store (to feed the addition), but am VERY selective since the cost of goods is so high. I do online auctions too for jewelry, but only buy when its super special. Yard sale prices are SO good, I just have to stock up while I can. I have been bitten as prices change and sometimes the price of an item falls by the time I get to it... but, mostly it works... a death pile makes me happy :)

I don't know anything about how SD cards work, but you might see what happens when an SD card is erased. Are all the bytes overwritten, or are the files just deleted from the directory and the actual space marked as available? Many people think that formatting a computer hard drive erases all the files, but they're really still there and can be recovered. SD cards might be similar, because overwriting billions of bytes takes a long time, and it doesn't make sense to do that. I suggest you consult with a data-recovery expert.
@vinyl1Earthlink10 ай бұрын
I did a little research. There seems to be a number free SD card data recovery software packages, a bunch of KZbin videos on how to recover data from an SD card, and many businesses who offer SD card recovery as a service. Given your level of computer expertise, and the value of the files, I suggest paying for professional recovery service.

Have you seen the one person's video where they had one more attempt to unlock a Samsung phone that had 6 million dollars of bitcoin on it.. Now that would be nerve racking!
@vinyl1Earthlink10 ай бұрын
@@Rodogg7787 - Unlocking a phone is different from recovering a storage device, which is wide open. If you're nervous, you could just to copy the entire raw data on the card to another device, and work on the copy.

I feel your pain. I used to run a website for amusement parks and each year I visited the parks in my state to take pictures of all the rides. Some parks were close and I visited many times, others I only could afford to visit once a year. One year I lost the photos from an SD for one of those single visit parks. I was so sick when I figured it out - I was already home, couldn't afford another trip etc etc etc. And I had no new pictures that year for that park. I beat myself up every time I remembered it. But from that point on I changed the SD card EVERY TIME I took a trip. SD cards were cheap compared to the loss of those pictures. I'm so sorry it happened to you.

Sourcing for me is seasonal too. I live in New England so, I have about a 5 month window to source. My local Salvation Army and Good Will stores are out pricing themselves, that also makes it difficult to pick up product during the colder months here.

I was wondering where you got your craft paper rack. I have recently been getting big rolls from Sam's Club and haven't had much luck finding a reasonably priced rack. I have the opposite problem as you do. We usually have garage sales almost year-round in Texas. The problem is competition here. Some folks don't even get out of their truck and ask for prices for items as I am parking. I was at a yard sale recently and a woman was asking me for prices, then got annoyed I did not respond. She honked at me. I just started laughing. Told her it was not my sale.

I totally get it. Having experienced the loss of files over the years (due to a number of reasons) I constantly have 2 external hard drives attached to my PC and I save data from my camera every time I get home and that is then backed up to the external HDs. I am overly diligent about backing up/saving/copying/etc. because of those past losses. I've cried over this type of thing in the past so I understand. I have no doubt there will be opportunities for grabbing more content without it affecting your family time

I started sourcing out of estate sales and online auctions when I began reselling. And that's something I can do throughout the year even in the six months of wintery weather. Summer garage sales and church rummage sales is a boost, of course. But to help get through winter, I do build up a small pile of things so I don't have to depend on buying when the weather is rough. I tend to hold onto projects which will take a little work but I get to stay cozy warm at home and learn about certain niches that way. Last year it was a war games lot that needed sorting. For this winter, I've acquired an antique car parts lot from someone who used to do swap meets.

Sterling. Thanks for the content Kevin. Although I don’t make KZbin content, I can understand being upset losing all that content. It’s a big deal. But you do have a great positive attitude. Living in Connecticut we don’t have a lot of yard sales much of the year. There are a few good thrift stores that have okay prices. Sometimes you can find good deals at Goodwill. Found a Tod’s purse for $15.99. Swept that into my cart and put some clothes on top so no one would see it in my cart. I didn’t want to buy it right then and put it in the car because I had a 25% off all full priced items.

I can’t imagine losing all that footage. Sourcing is hard here too because of Winter and lack of thrift stores. The few stores we have rarely get any high-end items worth reselling. I have to travel 240 miles RT to the larger thrift stores. I do have a pretty big death pile right now-I’m only a PT reseller. I do eBay out of my basement and I’m running out of room so yes, it’s stressing me out! Come tax time I will make the decision whether to continue or have a big yard sale of my own & move on to something else. I enjoy the hunt but not the work! (sterling)

You need to, as I would say it, Pawn star style, structure a few videos to help you add content. You already do it sometimes but use your history teaching on items sold a little more in-depth on certain items or categories. Like Rick on Pawn stars, he buys an item and gives this whole little packed history information on it with pictures. And add a few boxing videos, :) Great video by the way, I am also struggling with sourcing in southern Indiana. Keep it up, :)
