I wish all of the major sellers on EBAY would band together and start a new platform where the traditional business models would apply. Things like high communication on both the seller and buyer side, instead of relying completely on algorithm and not offering a phone number or a path of communication. I have had some of the same happen on Facebook Marketplace as well and no mode of communication offered. Ebay just withheld funds, because I am not a major reseller and don't post on a regular basis. This is infuriating. To your last comment "EBAY is still king" well the king needs to be de-throned.

Reminds me of an old saying we used to have: “just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean people aren’t really out to get you” lol. The lesson here is that I think it IS possible that someone with sour grapes or a bad experience (in their opinion) is reporting your items. This happened to me just a couple weeks ago. Three day suspension for a 'counterfeit' item I knew was genuine, but eBay didn't care. I said fine and moved the item to Mercari, and I'll be moving more items there as well. I have a good friend that got hit with a 10 day Vero suspension just last week. He called to get a proper explaination and question the policy, then the next day they hit him with a 30 day Vero suspension and deleted over 2200 of his listings. The funny thing is that one of the Vero products they hit him with is a brand he and I started ourselves, we own the rights to it, yet eBay says it was conterfeit and wouldn't lift the suspension. Rediculous! If eBay keeps messing around with it's customers (us sellers) they are going to find out the hard way what indifference will get them. There's a reason eBay is the only platform with declining growth percentages. I can't wait for eBay to be replaced by a company that will actually service it's customers properly.

Just a thought. I have worked for several companies that for one reason or another, they go bought out, or they were in some powerful political crossfire, they got taken down. The way it was done was from the inside. There would be increasingly stupid policies until employee and customer alike were gone. Maybe that's what is happening here.

What you said about the Coach bags is exactly spot on! I just got the EXACT same message as you did this last week, only it was strike 2 over a Coach bag that is 100% authentic, with proof of authenticity. I was warned that next time I will get a 3 day suspension. I know it is competition saying my items are not real. I have been on eBay since 1999 and live near several Coach retail stores along with being an avid collector. I am not risking it, though, and pulled all my Coach items off of eBay. I will just sell them elsewhere I guess. It makes me mad though, because I would never sell anything that isn't authentic, and take my business very seriously and have for all these years. This was not a complaint from Harley Davidson. It would been a VeRO. Whoever it was, knew the HD warning information. HD states that no modifications can be made to their trademarked items. This includes placement on any other merchandise including custom made items. Like a plaque, picture, helmet, shirt, etc. Adding a non Harley Davidson patch to an official Harley Davidson item appears to be a gray area.

We just recently got hit with a "counterfeit" item when the item wasn't. We contacted eBay, even provided a receipt proving we purchased the item from a store. They supposedly lifted the ping on our account but we were still not allowed to list the item because they stated it was flagged by someone as counterfeit. Note there are others of this exact item still listed on eBay so we think someone reported us for some reason which is why ours was not allowed. And per eBay style they provided NO explanations or details VERY aggravating! :( Thanks for sharing your situation, so sorry it is happening to others. Etsy has changed for the worse in the last few years in terms of customer service, fees, and traffic. I would not recommend opening a shop there thinking it will be a better alternative to eBay -- it has its own significant problems.

The only problem I see with sharing everything you sell on eBay is that there are people that are jealous and trolls that will try to ruin your eBay store. I know one of the first big KZbinrs and the trolls basically ruined his account. Good luck.

Exactly this. I believe I've seen a KZbin reseller or two that have purposely kept their ebay username/store name a secret for this very reason. But.. I can see how that would affect the content some of them make, so I can see the value in being open about it. It's a shame that ebay's algorithms can be exploited by those with bad intent. Feels like this sort of thing has been a problem in one way or another on ebay for years. And it's almost always people that are indeed jealous, but instead of spending their time improving their business, they spend their time dwelling and obsessing over the success of others. The time it takes to get a listing taken down can almost certainly be spent on putting one of your own up - and probably make money. Sheesh.

What’s unfair is the lack of communication or at least a way to get answers for why you may being punished. I think eBay is losing money by these actions. So they should invest some into a sellers board or outreach because they are doing nothing but scaring people away from wanting to do business with them. Sometimes a seller is wrong and is a case of some education on the matter and should not be so in the dark of what’s happening or shouldn’t happen again. Very frustrating!

I worked in the quality control department for mortgage companies. When we would put someone on suspense, we would indicate which file it was that was flagged. The files were flagged because of fraud that I located in the file. People that commit fraud, know that they commit fraud. For something like a jacket or vest with a logo on it is ridiculous. He didn't create it, he's not trying to pass it off as a Harley-Davidson vest, and by viewing his store it's easy to see that it is not completely Harley-Davidson products. If it were me, I wouldn't have flagged it at all. My best guess is someone is trying to cause problems. Could be somebody that's jealous, or somebody that is blindly loyal to Harley-Davidson the brand content, on a personal mission to remove all non Harley-Davidson created products.

I'm a relatively new part-time seller. I built up to about $200 profit per week. Then suddenly my sales stopped. When I called I was told I should sell better stuff at better prices. They would not listen to the fact that nothing changed in my store from one week to another. That evening I jumped on List Perfectly and began cross posting. I also reopened my Amazon seller account and started selling there again. eBay is obviously not interested in small sellers and seems to be getting very obvious about it. Very disappointing but I won't put all my eggs in the eBay basket.

Yeah, the communication issue definitely needs to be addressed by eBay. (or lack of). I've had items removed too and could not even figure out what the item was so that I could get rid of it, so it's probably still in one of my bins. Like you said, they just don't want to spend the money to assign a team to deal with seller issues like that. I'm glad I don't deal in beauty supplies, clothing, or shoes because that seems to be where a lot of the issues are, either from companies who don't want their stuff being sold on the secondary market, or from other sellers who know they can get your competing listing removed and possibly even take down a competing seller in the process. There needs to be a better way.

I got dinged for the authentic issue on a 35 year old Budweiser racing hat I got at a garage sale. I listed it as unbranded and theres others exactly the same still listed. To be honest not sure how much Nascar stuff was even licensed in 1989. Frustrating because I try to do ebay 100% the right way (package well, ship fast, dont cheat media mail, don't list anything that could be fake, etc). I am considering crosslisting to multiple listings before too much longer.

I question them on multiple occasions hoping to get a different answer, but they just send me the link to the counterfeit rules which does not apply to us and say don't relist it. eBay has a sick,dysfunctional culture at the executive level.Didnt you see the 60 Minutes episode where top executives went after some nobody who made a critical review of eBay?They sent goon squads after this person,threatened her in person,had people follow them around.The CEO even got involved and greenlighted the campaign. The software,user interface is glitchy and randomly bizarre at best.Its never improved over the last 20 yrs. It is run like a cult.

Hey Kev, so you have a big following and have been a reseller for many years. Why not create your own website and drive traffic to that? Then you control your own destiny, and can not be shut down. I’m having more success now shifting my listings on Facebook marketplace and also picking more items that are more expensive for face to face purchases. Such as furniture, equipment ect. The fees and lack of eBay traffic forced me to cross list.

I have had things removed for various reasons. Like directv boxes if they show the cards advertising branded channels (HBO/MTV etc) which was odd.. like they zoomed in to see it. Had some skin care items removed saying they were counterfeit just because the box came in 2 different colors. Odd the jars inside were exactl the same so I threw out the boxes and relisted the item. They will take down medical devices like cpap machines nebulizers etc. Yet you will see 20 of them sold within the last month. They won't let me list breast pumps (don't laugh they were free at garage sales) because its used yet go to the sold items you will lots of them sold. I got a really nasty email from a hair product company because I was selling their product and was told to take it down immediately. It didn't come from eBay so I didn't - sold them anyway. If they just had someone (from America) to talk to to deal with one offs or situations like this it would be nice. One time asking for manager helped get a situation resolved and get answers I needed.

After 25 years of a seller, I closed my ebay account last month. I had someone buy a few things, leave positive feedback, then file a claim that "he didn't recognize the transactions". Ebay gave him his money back no questions asked. Yep that's it for that no more.

Like I have said before, you don't work for yourself, and eBay is the worst boss in the world. I just stripped my store from 800 listings to under 300. You would be amazed how many listings were not even listed anymore. EBAY took them down and never said anything. I really think we are watching eBay self implode. What a shame. By the way, I have been on ebay for 18 years.

It's funny how Amazon can dump tons of counterfeit merchandise every day through their platform and nothing gets done about it. I stopped shopping at the Amazon return bin stores because I got a VERO on like four different products I bought from those stores. LG water filters, Cobra cb accessories, otc medicine (that one is especially concerning), Rodan & Fields, things I had no idea would be counterfeit. Other than that, I avoid selling things like Coach, Nike, Chanel, etc., even if I 100% know they are legit just because I know they'll VERO you even if legit. This is where I love being able to sell local. Even then, I'll never knowingly sell counterfeit items.

Your point about other sellers being able to report your items to eliminate competition. It absolutely does happen. It happened to a company I worked for. We sold recycled electronics on ebay. We had an item come through that was very uncommon and 1 other seller had one listed. I go through the process to get the item listed. Wishin in a few hours the item was removed and we were restricted just like yourself. So there was absolutely zero doubt about what happened. Our manager called and got the restriction removed but really there wasn’t much that ebay was willing to do. So our manager went and reported the other sellers item and had it removed. Ebay unfortunately does very little to protect or help it’s sellers. There are some very simple changes that could be made and make the seller experience better. Let’s start with negative feedback for bad buyers.

I'm so sorry about what happened to your store. It seems like anyone can report any item and cause a store to shut down or an item to be removed without any way of defending yourself to an actual person at eBay. Some other company needs to come along and knock eBay off it's throne. Poshmark, Mecari and Etsy need to up thier game or a new company needs to come along and start taking some of eBay's business. I sure do miss the old days of eBay. I would also love to hear the positives and negatives of each platform.

If a person reports something as counterfeit they should be required to show proof. Not long ago I had a keychain that was given to me by a Jeep dealer. I listed it was hit by a counterfeit claim from Jeep. They took the listing down. Luckily the item sold first.

In the meantime you can get all of your items ready to list and save them as drafts. Then you can list the drafts once restriction is removed, much faster that way.

If a seller is restricted like that, it's not possible to save a draft because... they're restricted from any selling activity. Unless one is working with a 3rd party app that creates the draft listing offline, and then uploads to eBay later.

I had a person ask a question about one of my listing and it was listed wrongly so I told them I had others that were what they were asking for. His response was he was reporting me to eBay for trying to get them to buy from me off eBay. What the fool didn’t know was they were listed on eBay. The bad thing was is he had it were you couldn’t reply after he made the statement. Some people are just jerks and want to cause trouble. I even thank the guy for pointing the mistake out to me before he blocked me.

I'm a small reseller, I watch you and Mike the Golden State Picker. I also run 3 other businesses in other industries. We've been selling heavier since Covid. So we have been getting some minor notices for stupid things nothing serious. So all of a sudden I go in and try to revise some listings and ebay doesn't let us relist it. So we call and finally get someone who gives us the BS from their algorithym. So we had over 900 listings and they cut half of them in half to 400 and indiscreminately start delisting our items.I thought I was working for my self, I haven't had a boss for 40 years. So we can't do squat but sell 400 or delist some and put back the best. In my other businesses we deal with the Department of health and Department of Higher Education and they watch over you like a hawk, so after over 30 years of dealing with them we have a great status. So now I have to answer to an algoirhym or AI. Good luck trying to explain anything to aplications wiith no soul, no feelings. Of course the person we talked to was just repeating what she was told.

If the patch has the Trademark on it then you should be protected. You would have to list it as a Harley product to be in Violation.

Mmm yessssss! Had an authentic coach bag listed, and someone tagged it as counterfeit and they pulled it down. I reposted it two more times with some different picture angles to see if it maybe would not get the attention. But after my third listing was posted for like 10 minutes someone messaged me asking to see the creed up close. Then I knew someone was tagging my listing as counterfeit. I messaged ebay and said this is not fake, ive sold soooooo many bags and am a high rated seller. They said sorry its fake and dont post it again. Soooo as to not continue to poke the bear and I took the loss and just decided to sell it on poshmark or mercari. But what a downer! And its so true... anyone can tag anything and it literally can be pulled. Boooo

Happened to me as well. Couldn’t provide a receipt (which was long gone) to prove it was legit and since I couldn’t provide the receipt they said it was counterfeit. I had sold same product line before and no problem. I think the competition accused me and ebay shut it down. I was so mad!

I hate EBay. Just had 4 listings removed for Verro violations. I listed in title as “Lego Compatible”. I’ve also had people report items this getting it delisted because they were selling the same/competing item.

That's so frustrating. I'm so sorry that happened to you. Given how many people worldwide have "businesses" through eBay, the platform needs to be designated an essential service and the eBay corporation needs to be designated as an employer (similar to a department store or a consignment shop) and the sellers as employees of that corporation. Then sellers will have protection and rights given to them by law outside of the restrictive guidelines of eBay. Sellers should band together and get a lawyer and take eBay to court once and for all.

I had a buyer return Denizen jeans instead of Carhartt khaki pants and eBay refunded the buyer even though I appealed it. That was that 🤷🏻‍♀️. We use reselling as supplemental income. I had a weeks suspension over a little device you plug in to car that is supposed to save you gas. eBay said it was an item that tried to get around emissions laws. I don’t see how. But my store was still visible in certain areas. I couldn’t list though. But stuff continued to sell daily. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I use list perfectly but I don’t have all my listings catalogued there. I list first in eBay because you have to put the most detail there and then crosslist to other platforms using list perfectly. I need to see how to get all listings over to list perfectly to protect myself. Last month 40% of sales were on other platforms. Fewer and fewer are coming through eBay.

That’s crazy they do not give you specifics on what item caused the issue. Everyone makes mistakes including people at eBay or people viewing your shop. It’s not right that a seller can not defend their items if believed wrongly accused? IMO, sellers need to start building their own independent site as well as using other platforms. eBay seems to be working against independent sellers and migrating towards corporate discounters& liquidators.

I sold on ebay for nearly 20 years. 20 years of drama, including 5 hour waits to speak with my seller rep, etc. Confusion, contradictory policies, jumping through hoops, etc. I listed items that are too numerous to mention here. If I'd run out of an item rather than send the wrong item (which ebay finds okay), I'd refund and cancel the sale. After doing this several times ebay decides I'm a bad seller and removes all my listings. Now, again, mind you this was over 20 years, thereabouts. I quit, never looked back and live much better without all the grief. I started off selling at flea markets many years ago with much success, then when ebay appeared on the horizon, I began to sell on that platform. I did well, too. No complaints there. Back then you could even leave negative feedback for buyers. I still long for those days. There are so many abusive buyers, now, that it has made ebay suck.

I would never make false claims! Kevin has been an inspiration to my business and I have watched him for awhile. My eBay business has been doing great for me and has helped me to become debt free. If you have nothing nice to share, then go away. Kevin's channel is very positive and upbeat - thus the reason I watch. As far as the "Karen", it's a common slang used by many people, I wasn't directing it at anyone in particular. If you don't like it, change the culture.

20+ year seller. Went below standard when I had taken my listings down while I had back surgery. Because sales fell off and not making sales - my defects hadn’t fallen off yet. So when I decided to jump back on after 2 months with zero issues I went from no limits to only being able to list 455 - even though I had 1200 items and a 10k store. One freaking time and now I’m throttled and can’t make sales to get back in good graces. Thank goodness for other platforms

I recently had a listing for brake pads that Fleabay took down because I indicated they fit a Jeep JK. Apparently, identifying a brand was not ok to do if they don't make the product. So, if you say a matchbox car is a Jeep, Fleabay can cancel you.

I once had my account suspended for 3 days- I had listed a number of new old stock shirts that were still in the package. eBay removed them all and issued the suspension. When I called the only explanation, they could give me was because the words "new," and "vintage," were both in the title...

This has been going on for years. Harley Davidson is notorious for consistently coming down on sellers for "copyright infringement". I had a jacket taken down about 10 years ago. At that time ANYTHING Harley Davidson was taken down. They just didn't want to see their product on the secondary market. We used to be able to time the selling of items we couldn't sell. A lot of movie studios also didn't want their items sold. If it was a holiday weekend we knew the lawyers for these companies wouldn't be watching so up the items went for a 3 day auction ending on that Monday holiday. Got away with it for years. But they are way too picky now and it's just not worth it so we're good. Just know about H.D.

Other KZbin eBay channels are reporting problems resulting from ebay's release of their purported counterfeit spotting bots. One channel reported waking up to find 14 items flagged and removed for being counterfeit, which actually weren't counterfeit. He was not suspended, though. It appeared ebay's bots were just going to continue scanning his inventory, removing what they think are counterfeit. This is different than what happened here with a suspension.

Harley Davidson has people watching ebay listings I was contacted by a girl who is a contractor for HD she makes authorized shirts for them. I had a shirt that a dealer made for his customers that did not have a Harley tag on it. She told me I should take it down. I did. BE CAREFUL with Harley! In the past I had several very nice Nike Lexus logoed polo shirts after they sold ebay sent me a warning. It works this way The Lexus dealer can make shirts with the Lexus logo and GIVE those to his employees, but THESE TYPE OF ITEMS CAN NOT BE RESOLD.

I had a store in 2016 through 2020. It was very profitable. We started promoting through social media and were fine for a while. All of a sudden we were hit with returns then inad, then vero then authentication issues. Each time we called Ebay the conversations were vague and punishment was a bit severe for a buyer's reporting. Especially with selling the thousands of items over the years. I just started back but I'm very cautious about anything I put on ebay. I've sold just as many items on poshmark and have had 2 issues in the past 7 years both by the buyer but poshmark sided with me. I'm sorry this is going on... chin up and move on!!!

The problem is that most of this stuff is handled by computers. I think that any potential suspension should be looked into and investigated by an actual person, preferably a supervisor.

I wouldn't go for supervisor for that sort of review. I'd suggest a specialist who has some advanced training and a lot of front line experience. Then you need a supervisor above that level so that if a problem is escalated, there's someone it can go to that is still within in the same team.

Although it is "possible" that a buyer would be upset enough to engage in a vendetta against a seller over an allegedly counterfeit item, it seems far more likely to me that another seller who is jealous of your success, might have reported multiple items or enlisted family or friends to do so. No doubt ebay could easily determine the ID address of computers where reports initiated if they wanted to. As ebay has shown no inclination to solve some of these problems, continuing to diversify may be the best course of action.

Also if your are a seller on eBay that’s selling high end items, do keep your invoices from distributors that you do business with and make purchases from. Because a seller on eBay was notorious for selling high items, making great income, boasting about it on KZbin. Acting as if an eBay Guru, schooling and scolding others of how their eBay business should be operated. But the moment eBay hit this self absorbed seller up and requested that seller provide invoices as proof of items purchased and where product came from. Amazing the seller could not produce any invoices. Therefore, eBay barred seller from selling on their platform and assumed the goods being sold were stolen merch. At times that’s not always the case, but that’s the approach taken by eBay, right or wrong. The seller had long tenure onsite. Lived nearby Chinatown San Francisco, Ca. The location is well known for shysters, sales of cheap , shoddy and counterfeits.
