Yep your right, but her brother actually wrote it for his band but thought it would sound better in her voice, so asked Billie's to sing it for him, then also she was a dancer and her dance teacher thought it would be cool for them to try record there own song to make a dance to. So they then recorded ocean eyes to send to Billie's dance school but also for fun they decided to upload it to sound cloud and the song took off.

At 5:31 in your video..the haunting vocals you hear in the background there are Billie’s vocals played in reverse..like spinning a record backwards. The chorus in reverse. Finneas is a genius for that. The way I interpret that is like the tide going back out to sea. Like her normal delivery for the chorus is the tide rolling up on the beach..that section in reverse? It’s like the water rolling back out..

And to think my last comment about this song had people saying, "This isn't the right crowd for those songs." I think that person has been proven wrong. Music people are often music people and love all types, even if it's not their "go-to" genre. "Lovely" with Khalid was my introduction to her voice. It's haunting in that song. Other songs- Everything I Ever Wanted, Bellyache, NDA. There's literally so many suggestions I can never think of all of them on the spot.

Some of the earlier ones I think y’all will enjoy are Hostage, Lovely (one of the most beautiful songs ever), and Bellyache. Bellyache is a fun one where she takes on a character. On the deep side, Everything I Wanted made me feel truly seen in my depression for the first time. It perfectly describes that place I went when I was not at all well. Also, NDA has an amazing video that was all practical. I don’t know how insurance allowed it to happen, but it’s soooo good.
