Great video, Trond! Since you photograph so close to the ground must of the time, you may want to check this product from Kirk Enterprise Solutions called Low angle Camera Pod. I think it would save you time and head ache. Best regards!

Curious as to why you don’t use the screen to compose and focus in lieu of the eyepiece.Getting low as you do is most difficult for me,thank you. Enjoyable as usual. As a side note living in Florida sanderlings are year round and so common we pay them no mind, apart from enjoying their antics.

Beautiful images, Trond. Looked like some of those sanderlings were going to hop up inside your lens hood. I had a wren do that to me one day. First it landed on my portable blind, then down onto the lens barrel and then up inside the lens hood. I couldn't believe it! I always look forward to your posts, Trond. I know it will always be something interesting. One question, do you check the tide tables before you go to the beach to photograph bird or do you just wing it? Just wondered. I got caught by an incoming tide one time and had to wade a chest deep creek to get back to where I started. :)

Super photos Trond, as usual. What I kept think was, he’s going to have a busy evening cleaning the sand out of the equipment, not to mention your clothes 😂😂. But that’s why you always get the shots, Great job 👍🏻

Great stuff, Trond, as usual! I'm going to be trying exactly the same thing on Monday and Tuesday with Sanderlings at the Bolsa Chica Reserve in Orange County, CA. I'm going to use my Z9 with my new 800 PF and a 1.4X. There should be a few Elegant Terns still around (they breed there) to practice flight shots. Wish me luck!

Sanderling are so difficult to get sharp in flight because they are so small, fast and difficult to follow. Those 2 pictures you managed to get in flight with perfect attitude/lighting/background are the holly grail of sanderling photography :) As usual getting wet and cold with a broken neck is the price to pay for these beautiful shots. Not to mention the sand and salt cleaning of the gear and clothes back home. Quick questions : Did you use the eye focus tracking of the Z9 for this pictures ? Did you see a sharpness difference between the 600mm FL, the 500mm FL and the 500mm G. I've been using the 500mm f/4 G for 4 years and I'm a bit disappointed by the sharpness at f/4 (I try not to go below f/5 and I will shoot most of the time at f/5.6 for that reason). Did you experience the same with you 500 mm f/4 G ?
