@michaelramon2411 Жыл бұрын
I think it is reasonable from the episode to assume that the TIEs thought their mission was accomplished when they brought down the cruiser, and once they realized the base was neutralized, they booked it back to their own boss. But you're right that 10 seconds could have been devoted to that. Maybe at the end of the fight, the Mandalorians see the bombers coming at them (setting up a repetition of Mandalore's fall), but the bombers veer off and fly away instead.

Semi-related to the point about armor - I was at the range yesterday and met a guy who had been in the army for 20 years. He asked me if I had a soft, kevlar backer behind my armor plates. I told him I didn't, because the plates were marketed as standalone. He told me that without a soft backer, getting shot wouldn't be a death sentence, but it would take me out of the fight. It tracks with what I heard from my instructors in the army. One of them said that getting shot in the plates hurts even more than just getting shot. Beskar obviously isn't the same as ceramic composite designed to stop bullets, but it clearly doesn't prevent the wearer from feeling the impact. Besides, I personally really like that armor matters in the Mandalorian. I've seen to many Medieval movies where someone with a sword can kill someone in plate armor.

It’s like every single characters motivations were overridden by “take back Mandalore” like all the mandalorians came together so dang easy, which every single other show doesn’t do. Like for what reason did they all decide to come together this time? Other than John F’s character getting mad at a chess game, the clans don’t have ANY tension with each other. Also bo herself doesn’t really go into her past at all or struggles with her confidence. I expected her in the scene where din was trying to cheer her up, to push back against the nice things he was saying a little. Cause really bo has done some pretty awful things and has caused the destruction of Mandalore several times over by now. She is NOT loyal. She is NOT of good character. But din doesn’t know that and follows her blindly. I dunno man they just REFUSED to go into any character development in this season and I can’t understand why. It all feels so fake and rushed and forced.

One thing which stood out to me personally as a poor choice was Axe Woves making it out of the cruiser. They spent a good few scenes drawing parallels between Axe and Paz as being evenly matched warriors, the epitome of their respective tribe's values, both having strong, hot-headed and ultimately protective personalities. I think it would have meant more to both characters and made for a great reason for the sudden reconciliation between the tribes in spite of their differences if these two foils both sacrificed themselves for the survival of ALL the mandalorians. Both tribes could have seen their best, who bickered and fought themselves, put aside their petty differences to better their people and resolved to do better themselves. Axe clearly didn't want anyone else to risk their lives by remaining on the ship with him, and was prepared to die himself. It would have been an easy change to implement. Either cut the scene of him shooting out the window or make it so the armored window doesn't break to essentially small-arms fire and he steels himself for his end. Then have a small scene of either Bo and Din or Bo and the Armorer addressing the lost on both sides and mention them.
@kyledunn8205 Жыл бұрын
Because it was physically possible for Axe to survive. The point of him telling everyone else to leave the ship is just that his attempt might fail (cruiser is blown up before he gets it to crash), and in that case 1 Mando lost is better than a cruisers worth. It's exactly the same type of scene as in the start of 2009 Star Trek. Only in that instance Kirks father couldn't just jump out the ship last second. The ship needs maneuvering to a point where it *will* crash in to the hangar and after that Axe can escape. Plus we don't know if they have fully reconciled *yet*, all we know is they both fully back Bo Katan, and we've seen it time and again where 2 people from separate factions sacrifice themselves for the same cause and those 2 factions don't reconcile.
@Panzer_the_Merganser Жыл бұрын
Definitely had a noble sacrifice feel to the scene, one Mandorlorian even stops for a second for one last glance back at Axe before leaving… But nah, they GI Joe-ed it and had him simply jump out a window (and I was laughing at that too: some little wrist rocket can blow out a battle cruiser’s windshield? Two issues with the destruction of the Darksaber- 1. How was Gideon able to destroy the Darksaber if "the hilt is of a quality of beskar (I have) never seen before"? Season 2 Darktroopers couldn't even dent Din's armor with their strength. 2. Shouldn't Bo's hand/fingers been absolutely pulverized between the grip of the Moff and the Beskar hilt before the hilt itsself been crushed? It'd be one thing if the Moff was holding the hilt on its own, but he clearly gripped around Bo's fingers...so....
@HOLDENPOPE Жыл бұрын
Yeah, if Gideon can do that, then he could probably cave in Mando's armor with a single punch. At least it gets rid of the 'Beskar makes Mando invincible' problem, but if that was what they were going for, it wasn't communicated well.

Regardless of overall story and everything, I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. The action was overall great (just a bit clunky with powersuit Gideon), and I loved the ending circle transition because it’s a great callback to some of Star Wars’ more goofy roots. I was just smiling while watching and for me that’s good enough :)

3:28 I completely agree with this, there's a scene in Season 2 of the Mandalorian where Din charges (I think) a E Web Cannon (big mounted machine gun) tanks a ton of blaster hits and comes out unscathed. After that, I've felt like there's 0 stakes when Din is fighting stormtroopers or other blaster wielding foes. We know he'll be fine since if he can tank a heavy machine gun what's a blaster going to do to him? Not a massive complaint and still like the show, just 90% of the time the stakes feel non existent when Din is fighting since we know his armour is more than able to stop blaster fire.

I really liked it felt very real yet fun for everyone watching. the grogu part was kinda dumb but nothing else could have really been done there. As for the space battle I think the idea was that once the cruiser went down most of the tie fighter were then stuck in space fighting the smaller craft which would prove to much for them.I really liked the video game aspect of it as a fun action scene. And the Gideon clones were just perfect because it represents him perfectly.

I don't understand most of the complaints from some fans. I think the speculation on who might be the spy and who might come to save the day made people get their hopes up. I think this was an excellent way to end this chapter of the book and be ready for the next one in season 4. I might be in the minority, but I like how they didn't choose to end on a cliff hangar and instead wrapped up this story before the next one with Thrawn begins.

There was no mythosaur, no reveal of the Mandalorian spy, nothing new with the New Rebulic spy or the Shadow Council- literally nothing they set up this season. The previous episode was so epic because it really made you think the Mandalorians were completely screwed. They were trapped in a room, Din was caught, and Gideon orders their entire fleet to be bombed. If you set something like that up, there better be something substantial to actually help the Mandalorians escape or you let a lot of them die. Instead Din is saved by Grogu of all people in the first 20 seconds of this episode and he immediately destroys Gideon's clones that they've been building up since Season 1. He doesn't even have a reaction to them. He literally says to Grogu "Oh...those are Gideons clones" in the most deadpan way and then just yeets them out of existence. That was the whole reason Grogu was wanted by the empire in the beginning of Season 1, why he was continually experimented on, why he kept being kidnapped by Gideon...and that was the conclusion. You're ok with that? I was having this conversation with my friend the other day about how Star Wars in general is just kind of lower quality than shows from other networks. So we were looking up IMBD scores and noticed that some Mandalorian episodes like The Rescue, The Jedi, Redemption, were getting scores over 9/10 on IMBD, but in reality don't even come close when compared to the best of Game of Thrones, Westworld, Breaking Bad, The Wire, ect. Even a show like the Boys, is better on average than the best of the Mandalorian episodes. The Rescue got a 9.8/10 because it was the first sighting of immediate post-Return of the Jedi Luke- a character fans have been dying to see for over 35 years. Not because it was actually a 9.8. That entire episode was one lackluster fight after another until Luke saves the day. This acceptance of mediocrity has made us complacent. This show is enjoyable at times because I'm a Star Wars fan and that's it- it can't compare to anything outside of Star Wars. That is unacceptable to me because I, like so many fans, know that giving Star Wars that treatment is to key to creating something truly special. Imagine Star Wars produced with the same level of quality as Game of Thrones. And there is no reason they can't. It's made by Disney- the richest media entertainment company in the world. I don't get it.

To answer the question of the imperial forces, they are specifically other warlord's loans to Gideon, not Gideon's own forces. After the explosion, they probably figured Gideon was dead and probably just returned to the specific warlord factions they were apart of. The only actual forces Gideon owns are his clones, and the mandalorian super commando troopers. As well as the base, nothing more. Overall, season 3 is a incoherent mess, with some "decent" episodes. The entire season was "decent", I agree with you on this. Nothing actually tied in with ahsoka, which is what i thought would happen - but we are just returning to the same plot points but rebranded. Gideon's death also was goofy as heck, like bro just stood there and didnt even move, it seems like he fell into the fire on purpose, shows the lack of concern and budgeting/time constraints.

I was the opposite: fearing we'd get way, way worse. So pairing that with the low bar set by the entire unevenness of the season, I was actually very happy with the episode. @michaelramon2411 Жыл бұрын
Regarding the space battle, I would assume that the "use the cruiser as bait" plan meant that all of the Gozantis and Fang fighters scattered and retreated, and the TIEs presumably declared Mission Accomplished after they brought the cruiser down. Once they realized Gideon had lost, they flew off to summon their carrier and return to their actual faction. It would have been nice to have lines/shot confirming that in the episodes, but I don't think that's the most problematic missing scenes (acknowledgement of the Darksaber's destruction, for example).
