TL;DW CNCKitchen has been running a successful KZbin channel for the past 8 years, initially starting as a hobby to share his research. Over time, it has grown into a significant part of his life. However, balancing the KZbin channel with his full-time job as an aerospace research engineer and his family life has become increasingly challenging and stressful. To address this, CNCKitchen has decided to quit his full-time job and pursue KZbin and his other business ventures (selling heat set inserts) as his primary focus. He is also moving into a new 400 sq meter studio space that he will share with two other creators, Mario and Robin. This will allow him to have a dedicated workspace separate from his home, as well as collaborate with the other creators. CNCKitchen is grateful for the support of his viewers and patrons, as this transition would not have been possible without their backing. He is excited about the new opportunities this change will bring.

Agreed. Soundproofing would be much better with staggered studs so that there's no hard connection from one side of the wall to the other.
@SteevyTable3 күн бұрын

@Graham_Wideman3 күн бұрын
@@SteevyTable We probably agree on this area. Rockwool no doubt helps, but nothing stuffed in the wall is going to fix the sound conducted straight through the studs, I think. @SteevyTable3 күн бұрын
@@Graham_Wideman Oh, I was trying to suggest Rockwool in addition to staggering the studs. As far as code goes, I believe in the US you can get away with up to 24" centers if you use the correct drywall and studs, but I've never bothered to look up exactly what to do because that seems like it would make hanging stuff (even more) inconvenient and just stick to 16" centers.

Congratulations on the change in focus and the new space, but I have to say, I hate Quit-bait. I'm seeing it more and more often, a KZbinr puts out a video that makes it seem like they're announcing the end of the channel, usually with a dark thumbnail and text like "The End", "This is over", or "I Quit". You click in, and surprise, they're not ending the channel but actually ramping up, moving to a new place, or changing something of some varying significance. Just a couple weeks ago, Mrwhosetheboss put out one that looks almost the same as this one, with the title "My Last Video Here", turns out he's bought a house and is moving out of the place he used to record his videos at. I get the intention behind this kind of thing, the desire to give the good news in a way that doesn't feel like bragging and is not instantly spoiled by the title or thumbnail; but it's a very dirty bait and switch. You bank on the snap reaction of "oh no, this person I like is giving up, maybe something bad happened", and no, it turns out it's actually good news. Irritating. But again, congratulations.

Great to hear, and best of luck! In terms of collaborating with other creators, there are so many ways you can pull your resources for everyone's benefit (E.g. share cost of full time video producer/editor, network & server infrastructure, camera equipment, etc.). So it's not ONLY the shared space that could be amazing.....so excited for you! What's your plan to soundproof/isolate the studios? (walls look like interior 2x4 studs). It's WAY easier to figure out the sound isolation sooner than later, unless you plan to form one team that plays camera man for one another (i.e. no one ever records or live streams at the same time).

On that heating system: While it isn't efficient, it will likely burn 15-30% more oil than a correct, modern boiler. But you need to be careful with the temperature, as this is a normal boiler (Heizwertkessel), not a condensing boiler (Brennwertkessel), so you can't run it below 35°C, or it will rust out and flood the room. I don't have any data to use for an estimate (the measurement paper from the Schornsteinfeger, yearly oil use) but I guess it will likely cost 1000-2000€ more per year than a modern one. Not cheap, but (at least in the beginning) better than a 10-20k€ replacement. If the landlord pays for it, that's ok, otherwise, it might initially be cheaper to leave it in there and save up. I never worked on this particular model, but do have some experience with the newer version of it, and it was generally good.
@kenank7053Күн бұрын
In this combination you should use an underfloor heating mixing kit with a pump. So you run your heater system at 75°C (or more if it is a unregulated constant heater) and at the underfloor heating side you can configure the mixer unit to 35°. Also you can set the pump to high volumetric thruput to reduce ΔT
@unmountablebootvolume13 сағат бұрын
@@kenank7053 In the background, there are a lot of radiators on the walls, so I assumed that's the only heating type installed, and radiators don't melt at 90°C, unlike plastic pipes. With floor heat, I prefer to use a plate heat exchanger for isolation, as plastic pipes have oxygen diffusion (even if they say they don't), which could cause the boiler to rust out, so a 100€ heat exchanger plus second safety group and expansion tank end up saving a 4000€ boiler. That way, you can have the corrosive water in the floors in a separate circuit, never coming into contact with your boiler's perfectly clean little circuit.

It is way too expensive for commercial hobby machines to really take off yet, but as the process grows and works downstream to smaller and smaller businesses it will eventually become what Rep-Rap was - and you will be very busy as an engineer, a consultant, and the KZbin creator that teaches us all how to make it work!

Unlike the haters amongst us, I "Kinda" knew where you were going from the start and thoroughly enjoyed the walk and the tour. I have watched your channel from the beginning and have enjoyed watching you evolve from a nerdy little guy into a trusted Husband and Father who juggles more "Stuff" than I would ever have been able to. Your announcement about teaming up with Marius (I've been subbed to his channel for a long while as well) made me smile about the future possibility's. Good luck with your new adventure, thank you for your efforts in testing so that I can spend my money with confidence and perhaps... just maybe, you might want to use that scale to weigh Marius's "Stuff" before it ends up accidentally and unceremoniously in the basement. :)

Thanks Stephan. We wish you much luck in your future endeavors. It is good to chase your dreams and it was clear from the start that you were destined for greater things than just a KZbin channel. Thank you for the education and effort. Ad astrum!

Hallo! Thank you for sharing your decision and exciting plans! At first I thought you were quitting the channel! What a shock! You seem rather sad, but you are probably just pooped out from all the work…understandable. Alles Gute!

Having watched Marius videos on both channels before, the drama didn't hit as intended. But thanks for the nice walk through the woods 😂 All the best to you three, I'm envious of the makerspace vibe 😂

Big move, sir. I get that something like quitting a regular job is scary, but you have a fairly well established YT channel, so I think you'll do well. Can't wait to see the space evolve. I love the look of the OSB ceiling panels against the black.

Been watching since 2020 when I got into 3D printing and also just signed the lease on a 2000 square foot industrial space and will be going on the same journey. I'm so excited for you! I also plan to get into some metal work -- looks like too much fun to avoid. It's hard not to be absolutely inspired by all the amazing creators on youtube like you.

Awesome dude. I know it’s tough and a delicate situation, but you will miss 100% of the opportunities you don’t take. No regrets, just keep moving forward. Godspeed brother

I wishing you the best of luck with your move Stefan and lots of a great content form your new studio!

Thanks for the update. I agree that you appear to need better sound proofing for your studios. Especially in the adjoining walls and probably in the doors. Good luck running shop heavy equipment at the garage entrance while someone is filming. Be sure to update the security at that big drive-away exit.

Very nice! It was indeed, long overdue :) I wish I could do the same. I have a small side hustle of producing 3d printed miniatures, 3d printing stuff on demand and laser cutting. But next to 2 kids, a home to keep up, full time job and some additional hobbies - I find that my main job is the most hinderance. For years, I've wanted to reduce my work hours - so the fact you did makes me optimistic that this can be. And I am very keen on starting up either a youtube channel or a patreon with painting tutorials. So maybe there is hope :D I am really glad you pulled a plug and I wish you great success in this new challenge!
