Hey man. I noticed you always start your car right away before waiting for the main relay to engage onto the ignition. If you want my opinion as a Toyota mechanic, waiting a sec for all of the dash lights before starting your truck can do a lot of wonders and prevent less electrical problems later down the line.

I'm glad you said that. I drive a Ford F150, and I don't turn it over until the drivers seat moves into place and the seat belt alarm stops.

I'd wait until the H-fram light blinks twice, tap slightly on your brakes until you see the altimetric gauge shows at least -2, and then turn the ignition until you hear the jack-starter make a humming sound. Pull out slowly with your AC off until minimum-Q, switch your tube indicators to the 12th capacitor and then ease into the accelerator. It's not rocket science.

This is David, Judy's husband. I live 62 years in Oregon before moving to Idaho last year. I love your videos about oregon. The water on Hwy 26 is from a spring on the other side of the road. We also called it holy water. I don't think it's filtered but tested for drinking.
@ScottPDX
@ScottPDX 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's a spring, not "Filtered river water". I think that used to be a state wayside, before they moved to the newer rest area down the road.

It's more specific than Californians that put a "the" before a highway number... it's really just Southern Californians that do that. There's a historical reason for that: before the Interstate Highway Act in the 1950s existed, there were already freeways in LA. Because they didn't have numbers, they had names. The Santa Monica Freeway, the Harbor Freeway, etc. That's why us Southern Californians put a "the" before each freeway number.

Exactly. Reminded me of that skit on SNL.
@graham974
@graham974 2 жыл бұрын
That’s interesting I didn’t know the historical reason behind why we add the ‘the’ in there. Makes sense since LA had some of the oldest freeways. I think the 110 May in fact have been the first, but not sure.

Drove back thru the PNW and stayed in Astoria at a fish cannery converted hotel facing the Columbia River on our way back home to Glendale, CA after two weeks of driving up to grand Teton, Yellowstone, Glacier, then on to Calgary, Banff. Jasper, and then to Vancouver and back home thru Seattle, PNW, and Crater Lake. Looked for a Tundra camper KZbinr aling the way but no luck. But got to see some of the beauty that you’re showing us every week. Thanks for inspiration.

A hitch receiver pad (2x6 wire mesh) makes an excellent patio & a place to transport stinky stuff. Weld it to an upside down drop receiver to get it as high and close as to top of bumper, clamp it to keep it solid. Real game changer on my SUV camper.

8 PSI in the sand is good for a heavy rig. I have a 3/4 ton that does very well at that setting in deep sand. I just use a valve stem tool. I would take out the valve stem and let air out till I see the tire is getting bulged well at the bottom. Then put it back. If you look at the tool it has other uses. You can simply use a pointed end and push in the valve stem to let air out and release to stop. I finish the air down with fine tuning that way. I do have auto air down valve caps and have them pre set for what I want now though. Good quality ones are spendy. I also put together a 4 at once tire inflation manifold. It was way cheaper than buying a pre made kit. But it was still a bit pricy. I just hook all four tires up at the same time and hit the portable air compressor switch. I watch the main pressure gauge for whatever the PSI I want. Tire pumps are very cheap now. Tire plugs for emergency fixes are a good thing as well with having a good compressor.

We have one of those water spigots by me. They can get crowded understandably because the water is so good. People show up in the middle of the night and fill up containers that are a couple hundred gallons to give to their horses. Others with 10-20 five gallon jugs is also common. Sometimes a half hour wait like you said is not uncommon.

In Canada we don't have a many freeway/expressways as the US does. A main one in Ontario is the 401 - people will say get on The 401, etc. but for smaller two lane roads, they will just say take Hwy 17, or whatever.

And as you were pulling in with your running lights another thing crossed my mind from owning a motorhome and traveling a lot in it it probably need drain holes in those running lights on the sides of the camper when you can probably guess why you would need that so water can escape whether it's rain or just washing it drill two holes in the bottom of that plastic and you'll be fine in the running light covers

ASTORIA TOWER. The tower was built in 1926 with financing by the Great Northern Railway and Vincent Astor, the great-grandson of John Jacob Astor, in commemoration of the city's role in the family's business history. Patterned after the Trajan Column in Rome (and Place Vendôme Column in Paris), the Astoria Column was dedicated on July 22, 1926. Maintenance work was done in 1936. In 1974, the column was listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The murals that make up the column were refurbished in 1995 and a granite plaza was added in 2004. The 125-foot-tall (38 m) column stands atop 600-foot (180 m) Coxcomb Hill and includes an interior spiral staircase that leads to an observation deck at the top. The spiral sgraffito frieze on the exterior of the structure has a width of nearly seven feet (2.1 m) and a length of 525 feet (160 m). Painted by Electus D. Litchfield and Attilio Pusterla, the mural shows 14 significant events in the early history of Oregon, as well as 18 scenes from the history of the region, including Captain Gray's discovery of the Columbia River in 1792 and the Lewis & Clark Expedition. The frieze starts with the "pristine forest" and concludes with the arrival of the railway in Astoria. Constructed of concrete, its foundation is twelve feet (3.7 m) deep.[6] Built at a cost of $27,134 (equivalent to $415,324 in 2021), the tower has 164 steps to the top, where there is a replica of the State Seal of Oregon.
