This looks nice but I don't think it looks like "night" more like right after sunset at latest. @Spencer, is there anything you can do about the youtube compression thoroughly crushing your blacks and causing major banding?

I’ve done day for night multiple times and what I do to sell it is masking out the sky and making much darker.

I’ve got all the gear and enough hours of YT tutorials to start shooting. I jus don’t the have the buddy who’ll move my gear around and sit for hours in front of the camera! Great video man, as usual!,

Do you think you would manage to pull that LUT out for the XT3 that you have? I’m just curious because I also have one;) Great job on the video 👍🏻

all the mad max night scenes were actually filmed at noon, even 2 stops overexposed.

Hate to break it to you, but us professionals don’t do it like there’s this looks like absolute shit. Lol typically on a real film set such a Vista five directed the film at night time and he was powerful lights. This footage looks nothing like nighttime like at all.

Spencer, in your opinion is 150watt powerful enough for most situations, especially when using gels? I need to buy my first set of lights and I'm interested in getting 3 Godox UL150.. I wonder if they will be bright enough when using gels for most situations. What are your thoughts on that? Thanks dude! I appreciate your feedback ;)

I own a 100w light and for the most part I'd say yes but bouncing and diffusion and distance play a large factor. I try to keep at my base iso and only ever increase it if the light can't compensate. I'd like to get a more powerful light above 150 say 300w preferably not because its overkill but one you start modifying and controlling light or need it to go more than 2-3 meters whilst being diffused you need that extra punch. I've not done it yet because price i simple need to save lol or get more client work and rent. So you could by the 150w and if you do client work rent above that and charge it back to the customer

Sorry but that’s not how it works. What makes night for the eye is low contrast of shadow to light, oppose to the daylight. You won’t make day-shot in a sunlight look as a night, most people will see it is a fake. They call it low-key and high-key in filmmaking, don’t confuse it with photography where it means something else. Your welcome.
