Scale matters. Compared to other world war movies, this is not even a 10th of the budget of those. So by all means this is a low budget movie.
@TheDocumentarian01Ай бұрын
It's most definitely all relative. For our production crew, low budget is £200-250,000 or about $260-320,000 US. For someone else, it could be as low as £4-5,000, as per Christopher Nolan's first feature, which I believe set him back around $6,000. As long as you're focussing on story and bringing something compelling to the screen, your budget could be £1,000 and I'd happily sit glued to the screen to watch it.
@TheDocumentarian01Ай бұрын
@@kris4637 Perfectly put. If we look at, for example, 1917, and the scale and depth of that film, this would indeed be very low budget.

It’s amazing how much set design plays a part for cinematic imaging
@joshrainey3982Ай бұрын
Looks really great! I think your "messy" bounces on the ceiling give an authentic light vs the sometimes contrived, "clean", look when you know they just had 30 sky panels on the ceiling. Impressive to see how it looks with such a modest studio. No doubt someone also did an amazing job with the set pieces.

I’m gearing up to direct my first feature in December. It’s stressful because I’m self-funding what I can and pulling a ton of favors, but this BTS gives me a ton of inspiration and energy to make it all happen!

Your use of a volume wall is executed well here and in a very minimal nature, which makes the production very effective in telling an isolated story. I’m noticing a jib being operated at the beginning of this video - I actually own the same one! it’s a very sturdy piece of equipment.

I've been doing my own short film stuff recently with a focus on War/weapons content myself and this video is amazing, thanks for making it and ty TY algorithm for suggesting it to me. really sparks my neurons and gives me ideas! I'm not a professional by any means compared to you but this is fantastic use of technology. Especially facinates me about using UE for the backscreen, especially since I've built maps in UE before. Now i want a studio like this haha. looking forward to seeing how the film turns out!

Add a capacitor to the driver output of the wall LEDs. Should kill the flicker. Unless the the problem is actual data refreshing on the screen. if that's the case, not much I know that can help.

Nice to see such in depth BTS. Bit of an off type question, but where can I find that sunhood you used for your SmallHD 702, as the original one basically broke after a few shoots. Also seeing this mini volume & using Antilency set up, does the director of this have more in depth about this set up? Thanks heaps :)
