You really need to try those flounders with the backbone left in. Just scale them and cut them into sections. Leaving the backbone in makes the flounder taste a 1000 times better. Same with small black snappers. The backbone keeps the fish moist and really flavors the fillet. That color is great on a bay boat, but on a john boat probably a sand or gray background would have been better.

The smaller ones I’ll just cut the head and tail off and fry them while with some slits in the meat. I agree , they do taste better like that. And definitely agree on the color as well lol

I think my retrieve method using a curly tail jig is all wrong. I've been using a double bump but I think my pause is too long or just wrong. I'll try a double bump with a constant retrieve.
