As someone who is really interested in sailing ( hello midlife crisis ?) these types of videos are actually invaluable, the raw reality of repair and refit, getting it right, doing repairs, watching the margins due to cost. Most channels just show the good times, i’m sure it’s hard for you now and you’re both putting on brave faces, but thank you for not sugar coating.

When it comes to boats KISS. The trouble that these two are having is due to manufacturers trying to make their boats stylish and sexy...with compound curves. Old fashioned metal framed windows might look boring, but they hold up and they're simple to change out. Don't be put off...just ask questions on how to minimize maintenance before you buy your boat.

A year ago I was thinking "these guys are in a really hard situation and working it one day at a time" and I was suitably impressed. Now I'm in awe. Your daily grind to get your essentially derelict boat (and home!) seaworthy/safe/secure again is nothing short of inspiring. Hang in there - one day you'll tell this story to someone stuck in a boatyard far from their homeland and family that needs to know they really can dig deeper and push longer than they thought they could. People don't become an inspiration to others by living an easy life. You two are truly inspiring.

Hey guy’s, don’t get down things happen for a reason. I’ve done lots of replacement side windows on pleasure boats, during my career in the Marine business up in Vancouver BC. Personally I didn’t like seeing you install the new windows without blackening out the frames, this process is well worth the effort, trust me. Sand the area’s clean and prime the surface’s with Awl Grip 545 Grey epoxy primer. It’s already quite dark but you can add a black pigment. I quite often brush or spray applied AwlGrip black polyurethane over the top of the primer, doing this you don’t need to add black pigment to the grey 545 epoxy primer. The boat yard May no this method also, now why. By making the surface black there is less chance to see any air bubbles in the bonding process, this can happen for sure. This will really make you cry if they’re there, trust me, you only have one shot. Who am I you ask? I’m from Christchurch NZ, left home at 23 in 78 for Nth America and landed in Vancouver early 79. I started my own Yacht repair business and ran it for nearly 40 years, I’m retired up in kelowna BC. I’m sure you passed that way with your motor home, actually I meet you both at a RV show in Abbotsford BC, in the TradeX building. Anyway you won’t be disappointed if you go this route. Cheers, Murray Ashworth

The Wynns: The weather is nice, we're joking about caulk, we're drinking beer, it's the perfect day Murphy's Law: *Yeah, uh, about that....* (windows don't fit) *Oh and by the way, you're getting a crazy storm soon. You're welcome* "It's not supposed to rain but you know, famous last words around here" love how self-aware of your bad luck you are at this point. I keep joking about Murphy's Law but you really can't seem to catch a break. I feel really bad for y'all! But like the famous saying goes, slow and steady wins the race. Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day. A little progress each day adds up to results. The great thing about guava is all its uses from beer to pastries (or as us Cubanos call them, pastelitos con queso), agua fresca, and even baby back ribs (my personal favorite)! Guava baby back ribs is the result of a Chinese-Cuban fusion (a dying fusion unfortunately). Chinese laborers originally immigrated to Cuba to work in the sugar fields in the 1830s, and the mixing of the culture they brought with what's available locally resulted in a new fusion to form. At one point in time, Havana was home to the largest Chinatown in Latin America.

Seconding this! My team uses bike-rack suction cups for attaching instrumentation to test vehicles; they're fantastic. I have the most experience with the single-cup style with the 1/4-20 thread (we screw 3 or 4 of these to a custom mount), but the dual-cup style with a handle in the middle might be better for boat work.

Waiting for the bad news, but optimistic for the bathroom of our dreams! (Oh, and the garden tap providing water to the temporary shower is now leaking. 🙄)

The two of you have done an amazing job of keeping your spirits up over the last two years in the face of one large challenge after the other, frequently with no clear light at the end of the tunnel. The frustrations from the current challenges must be understood in the context of all you have been through. I think there is not a construction or manufacturing project in the world that is not now delayed, sometimes indefinitely. Yesterday, I saw that one of the Class B RV upfitters is no longer accepting customer ordered models and will build only for dealer stock. Why? With manifold parts shortages, it's all but impossible to guarantee the exact final content of a new build. We are paying the price for squeezing every last penny out of the global supply chain over the last 30 years: everything running tight as can be when things are going well. Throw a wrench or two into the works and you get the never ending delays we are seeing today. I do believe that New Zealand is the very friendliest English speaking country in the world. I hope that you will be able to do more touring (a la your anniversary trip) and see the many natural beauties of NZ and enjoy its warm, friendly people while supply delays iron themselves out. Sooner or later, the world will get back to a new steady state and we can all then get back on our then new plans.

My wife and I talked about it after watching this video. We both feel that this was probably your most inspiring video that we have seen. Throughout all the problems, you keep on going because it is worth it in the end. Thanks for the inspiration.

I could see the upset in your eyes, Nikki, but you still smiled for us. So did Jason. Your disappointment brought tears to my eyes. Bless both of you. You're such decent people and I love watching you for that reason. Warm sunny days and a return to sailing are just around the corner.

Influx of cheap Chinese made products is the supply chain problem. China is still classed as a developing nation therefore the UN subsidies their export costs, with free postage of products to other countries. Developed nations freight and postal/delivery services cannot keep up or make a profit from deliveries, therefore the backlogs.

Hello there, just a suggestion for the window sealing tape from 8:40. Start your installation on the bottom. If there is any moisture migrating through or the sealent during the window installation you won´t have the gap in the foam on the top. Keep up the good work and your spirit.

My first post on any KZbin video. Love your videos and the constant positivity you display. Having had my own boats for over 30 years, I know windows are a constant source of trouble. Just keep at I, you know what you’re doing, it will all come right in the end. You must be mightily miffed about your sails. Unfortunately many in the marine trade seem to play by different rules. I look forward to your next video, thanks for sharing with us.

Oh my gosh, I understand so well I started crying with you! Our rig is springing leaks left and right. Crap just all breaking at once. Our truck we pull the rig with; same. - Backstory. Moved into RV life full-time a year ago. Three weeks ago pulled into Washington state and everything that can leak is. Then the transmission goes out on the diesel truck; parts are TBD. Meaning, whenever they come in they'll work on it. Then something else breaks on it... then another. So now we are paying for an expensive RV site we never intended to be at, the truck people want cash, not card or debit card... we're out of state from our credit union so unable to get said cash in hand (have to visit in person in Utah for that)..... anyway. WE HEAR YOU! I'm so Sorry! AAAGGGHHH! I'm just so over it all. I get it. We also don't have the parts, the tools, or the time for all of this. Time to breathe. Time to step back and go do anything that doesn't involve money, trucks, RV's or Covid delays. Hang in there Wynns. Tomorrow is a new day. ::🎶 The sun will come out, tomorrow, bet your now broke butt that tomorrow, there will be sun.. 🎶

Why don't you have the starter rebuilt? You could cannibalize parts from something similar if all else fails. I am sure there is an electrical supply store or a mechanical shop that deals with farm equipment, generators, trash pumps, etc that could rebuild it or supply parts.

That which does not kill you will make you stronger ! Others wouldve been dead already, I admire your strength ! This WILL pass and you'll look back on this and laugh, ok maybe not. But least twill be in the past, the windows and the entire boat will be done ! Dont give up, just take breaks. I so appreciate you showing us the reality !!!!

Plan Z.2 is where you figure out a new numbering system for cataloging your plans... I am all to familiar with the feeling of being near completion and discovering you are not even close. By the end of the video I was imagining Paul Newman - All is Lost... expecting a shipping container full of shoes to blow across the parking and knock a hole in the boat. I think I would have fired a signal flare and abandoned ship. Good for you guys for not giving up

I like it when people let some steam off by cursing...not healthy to keep it in. If it's a fucked up situation, then it's appropriate to use foul language. In any case, I think you're keeping it together very well. Best of luck. Each passing day you're a day closer to succeed 💪🏼

Guy’s you’re living a lot of people’s dreams including and most importantly, your own. Don’t forget that. As frustrating as it is, you will overcome (maybe you already have with the natural delay in video’s). Chins up, and control what you can, let the rest go once you’ve taken action. Things will get better, they ALWAYS do.
