Jorge (pronounced “hor-he”) also goes by “Jay” and Epic the musical is his retelling of the Odyssey. It follows King Odysseus of Ithaca as he tries to get home after fighting in the Trojan War. And yes this musical is very much like the movie “Troy”. I highly recommend you react to the songs in order of when they were released so you don’t get confused by what’s going on in each saga. Troy Saga (first), Cyclops Saga (second), Ocean Saga (third), Circe Saga (fourth), and then The Underworld Saga (which is the most recent saga to be released)

@@DarkestNova556 Some people are just not attuned to the cultural transliterations of other languages, even if they use the same alphabet. Like, Polites looks like polite but plural. However it’s Greek and you would pronounce the e at the end as “ee”.

Basically this whole musical is telling the story of an Epic Poem called the Odyssey. It was told around 750 BCE. This is a truly ANCIENT story following a hero from the Trojan war called Odysseus.

The albums were released in chronoligical order of the Odyssey. Listening to the albums in order is better since you'll be able to follow the story as it progresses, later songs call back to older ones so you'll end up confused if you go back and forth between newer and older

The Iliad is first, and the Odyssey is its sequel. The Troy movie was based on the Iliad with Achilles, and this musical is based on the Odyssey, which is about Odysseus. The musical is about Odysseus's ten-year-long journey back home to his wife (Penelope) and son (Telemachus) after being away at war for ten years. Also, since none of the comments explicitly stated this (i think). The other song, No Longer You actually belongs to the Underworld Saga (like an album), the final saga of Act 1. Epic is the name of the musical. Every saga pieces together a part of the journey. The sagas/albums are released chronologically at different times, but they all belong to a larger story. That’s why it would make sense to simply start from this song, instead of jumping back and forth. You will get there eventually.

Youre thinking of a movie adaptation of the trojan war, the odyssey (the story this musical is adapting) is a direct sequel to it and this musical starts at the end of the trojan war, where odysseus had the idea to create the trojan horse (you can see it in the cover art)

So happy to see more people reacting to Jorge (Hore-hay), he is so incredibly talented. All of his albums are parts to a musical that he his working on creating. It follows the story of Odysseus (Oh-dis-ee-us) from the Odyssey. The music by itself is fantastic and so good, but wanted to let you know that there are animations created by fans that go along with the music and can help you know whats going on. No pressure to react to the animatics because again the music is so good it can stand alone but thought Id share that they are out there.

Definitely got the movie correct!! That is exactly the same Hector mentioned in the song, Odyssey takes places AFTER the war so it is a brief rundown in this song 😅

Just some context about what you just listened to. Odysseus and the Greeks are hiding inside the Trojan Horse, he gives them a bit of a motivational speech, they attack the city while the people are sleeping. The other guy that appears is Zeus, king of the gods, and the infant he's supposed to kill is Hector's son, Astyanax, who's prophesied to avenge his family and rebuild Troy. Penelope is Odysseus's wife and Telemachus is his son. Telemachus was a newborn when he left for war and at this point he has to be around 10. That's it I guess lol

As a freshener of the Odyssey but also something to do if you have a lot of time to kill is to read the graphic novel of the Odessey, which both inspired a lot of the visual ideas in epic but also is just a plain fun to read book.

The songs/poems were collected and written in like 725bce. which is over 2748 years ago. But the story is older. Apparently Troy was destroyed around 3203 years ago.

personally I don't believe Zeus is being honest in this song, he just wants to prevent the kid from being used by the Greek gods who sided with troy, basically end the split between the factions of gods, but he is trying to do it by forcing the burden on Odysseus which is super cruel. This isn't some prophecy, so its not guaranteed, but is still a possibility, but seriously fuck Zeus for throwing the gods strife on mortals and fuck the other gods who would try to continue this war long after it should have been ended. (Zeus is pantheon leader he could try to do his job and break up the internal bickering amongst the gods himself, but instead he chooses to put it on a mortal to eradicate the other side to ensure there will be a clear winner and end the problem with ruthlessness)
