I am so glad you finally checked them out again. The always go live - yeah thats not always true. They have some epic music vids. Blooming, Day Dreaming and their recent single Shambles are all pretty awesome. And From Now On is just EPIC! Live stuff though... The Dice / Hate vid from Lollapalooza is raw as hell and utterly wonderful. Onset live is also a huge fave. They really are stunning live. Saw their set at Aftershock last year and when they opened with From Now On it just blew me away... that instrumental is a masterpiece. This band just brings me joy. Hope you do a lot more of them. Not everything they do will mesh with your tastes... but they have such a big catalog now you will find some gems to cherish I'm sure.

So much talent and joy in one band is amazing. From Kanami (lead guitar) composing the music and generating the demos for all the other band members to write their parts to Miku writing the lyrics (mostly). This is one band where the sum of all the parts is greater as a whole and the individual parts are really good.

One of the best things about Band Maid is the variety of guitar sounds. Many bands, to me, sound the same every song, especially with guitar tones. Not Band Maid! I love the guitars in this one, but it’s not for everyone.

The guitar on this gives me some old school “Ace of Spades” punk vibes. Which I enjoy, wether or not it fits the song is personal opinion. That’s the great thing about music, and art, not everyone will have the same interpretation, and that’s good. Appreciate your honest opinion, and review.

I appreciate the emphasis on "personal preference" with regards to a negative comment. As others have stated the guitar tone changes with the songs. In fact you can find something different with every member on any given song. Often overlooked is how varied and effective the vocals, lead and second, are in each song.

absolutely, its not right for me to assume that because I dont like something that everyone should not like it either. I'm glad we can have great conversations even with a different view. I did like the song though regardless and plan on hearing more.

5 months and it even took me 2 weeks longer to watch this video 😂 My thoughts about this song: It‘s not in my personal top 75 of their more than 100 songs catalog. But instill appreciate for this one that Kanami the lead guitarist and composer of their music creates such a variety of different tunes with her song writing. And I’m sure that it‘s intentional by her to hold back with heaviness for the guitars to highlight the drums and bass with this one. What I like most about them is the variety of sounds from different genres that Kanami blends within their songs: Hardrock, Classic Rock, Metal, Punk, Blues, Pop, even sprinkles of Rap sometimes. But all songs still have the unique Band-Maid signature sound. Also the acoustic versions of their songs are great!

Thank you my friend. I don't agree with the reference to the guitarist in this song. She is the main songwriter of the band and she is spectacular with her use of the guitar. Her name is Kanami and the professional and personal respect that everyone, worldwide, have for her is immense but really deserved. Maybe you should listen her more times but even if you have a divergent opinion, no problem, since the fan base is tolerant like few others in the world of music. This band is incredible and unrepeatable and will be talked about them for generations and we are lucky, very lucky for cross our life with the these five Rock Queens and Angels.

@@TheWolffAndTheMelody It maybe that it's Kanami's guitar tone that jars with you, she has been using an Eventide H9 harmonizer as part of her main tone for the last few years and it's not everyone's favourite tone, personally I like it. Try Puzzle live from the same concert which has less of that effect in it and she is relentless throughout the song. Otherwise try their instrumentals Onset live or From Now On mv, Without Holding Back mv or if you can find the Instrumental version of Giovanni that's a worthy listen. I think generally that even for those that are not a fan of the tone, what she plays and how she plays it puts their misgivings into the background and she is a genius composer.

Music is subjective so no shame brother . Glad you liked the song overall .Kanami can shred rings around a lot of great player . But she always puts the song above her ego. If you listen to more you will notice that she will be shredding under the other members to aid a layer of sound to the song. When she does take the spotlight her solos are short but most times full of emotion. Plus she writes songs that can have more riffs in one song than other groups have in a album. Try the instrumental - From Now On.(MV) I think you will dig the tone she is using now. Peace@@TheWolffAndTheMelody

Interesting comment about the tone. It's pretty intentional - it's similar to other songs from that album - but then there are songs where the tone is much more like '70s or '80s rock. Look for the live of *"Puzzle"* from this same concert. "Puzzle" is from an earlier album but you'll hear get a different tone. I know some of their fans aren't crazy about the harmonizer; they think it's shrill. "No God" is another song from the "Unseen World" album made during covid times when they couldn't tour; it was pretty stressful for them. For me, the tone and frenetic playing embody that stress. There is a live stream (on a soundstage, without an audience) from back then with *"Manners"* and *"Black Hole."* "Manners" is a groovy bluesy rock song with a much different tone, while "Black Hole" is frantic and metal with a similar shrill guitar tone, but maybe it fits the anxiety of the song much better... and Akane absolutely murders her drum kit. I mean, she's an impressive drummer but "Black Hole" is just another level even for her.

Talented for sure, drums and base were on point. I agree with the tone/riff of guitars a bit off what i would expect, but maybe that was the point. Lots of energy on the stage. That bass solo was killer! However having never listened to BM before i can't really be the judge of them. I can just say i enjoyed it and wouldn't mind hearing another live performance. ❤ and ✌️

I think the guitar work is a bit off-kilter, however, knowing what Kanami is capable of, this was done on purpose. With existential lyrics like "Why am I me? What are the odds?" she may have wanted to take the listener out of their comfort zone. The run she plays at 4:19 sounds different than you would expect a guitarist to play, but that's something I like about her playing. Thanks for checking them out again.

BAND-MAID's "Without Holding Back" is a much better display of the guitar instrumentals. I think No God is 1 of their weaker songs because of the guitar's whiney sounds.

I didn't like that guitar tone at first either, because in their older stuff it's much fatter like you'd expect in a hard rock band. Pretty sure she does it though because otherwise, you wouldn't hear the bass - and MISA is too damned good to cover up. She uses this affect a lot now actually, and while I still prefer the "fat" sound, I gotta admit that these newer more complex songs are pretty damned awesome and would not be if she didn't use this affect. Anyway, just an IMO thing.

Yes fans tend to be too defensive about their favorites. Now having heard other live numbers of theirs, you know that the guitarists can stand out and be more interesting. Perfection does not exist, I would say that the music writing is weak here, the reason that the bottom, base and drums, stand out is the weakness of the leads.
