Redlycan... Let me know if you have any trouble, I will be happy to try to write down a description for you. Like I mentioned, its more of a "feeling" technique than just a step by step move.

Hi Carlos Mendez, Being a little early is not a big deal. It will prevent them from popping up. But you can sense when they are about to come up because of their grips. Most people don't just explode up, but they take one step then the other. Jake in the vid on his first stand up, did a double bicep grab, then popped up with both legs. In order for him to stand, he has to shift his weight forward (towards my head) THEN his legs come up. But that is how you know when his is about to stand

Many people specialize in standing passes. When he has a cross grip on your sleeve, he can open you guard fairly easily. Actually watch some videos of Kron in comp, he almost always stands to pass. When someone is up, you are at a big disadvantage. Preventing him to even getting a pass to start with is the point of the move. Also, in MMA, having a guy stand and dropping bombs on your face is not too fun. Its a way to better control him. If you try to put your hand in the gap... TRIANGLE.

Great technique. I'm wondering if you're not careful, would it be a disqualification if your opponent faceplants into the mat and gets concussed or knocked out?

We are in total agreement about the control issue.

I've had the privilege of rolling with Dave Kama. Such a great guy! I was hoping you were going to show the "better way" to control from the back! Do you happen to have that anywhere?

Are you waiting to feel until one of the knees come up? I'm curious about how not to be too late or too early Thanks bro

You watch a million BJJ videos and every now and then you see one like that and go WHAT?!?!? How is it possible that this is not common technique?!?!?
@jacktaufer64615 жыл бұрын
Were you familiar with it before?

The first move is novel, but I dont see the big deal about the guy attemping to stand up. Just hook his ankles, or sweep to an x guard for a take down and pass. Also when you bow your legs like he is doing, you create space for your oppondent to slide his arm through your leg to pass the guard. But I will try it in class and see how it works. Perhaps I will be surprise.

No, if a guy gets hurt as a result of a legal technique, then you win.
