Maybe the Mass Effect show could be built around alternating timelines each episode, with paragon Shep of one gender in odd numbered eps and renegade gender-flipped Shep in the other, exploring a timeline that diverges more and more through the season.

Moon Channel has a very good breakdown on what's happening in the background of the Nintendo lawsuit. It basically comes down to Nintendo striking back against some of the stuff Sony has been doing to attack Nintendo, and Nintendo is retaliating by going after PocketPair (who is owned and controlled by Sony, of course). That's a large part of why this patent lawsuit looks so odd, it's not really anything to do with PocketPair as devs or as a company.

I actually could see a good GoW show. It would essentially be a prequel to the first reboot. It would have a bitter and depressed Kratos waking up and surviving in the Norselands and meeting up with his (now deceased) wife Faye. The big issue is GoW lives and dies on the crazy over-the-top set pieces and rendering for a show takes SO MUCH MONEY and TIME. It would take a full month to render Jörmungandr speaking to Kratos, but it would be f'kin awesome!

I really love Mass Effect ever since playing the first one at launch. I dont want anymore Mass Effect after the ending of 3 and the entirety of Andromeda. The people that truly cared for that series are no longer at Bioware and I would prefer they work on their own IP. I feel like a battered housewife.

One of the "patents" is just so absurd (seamless summoning of mounts, something most games have).

Kinda seems like Nintendo is trying to set a precedent with this case. Maybe they set the potential fine to so low that the Pallworld devs just takes it. But then any future case Nintendo can point to that court case and be like 'see? We already proved people are copying our really vague patents!' Sort of thing?

Companies shouldn't be allow to patent game mechanics. If games are art, then the only "patent infringement" possible should be the literal copy-pasting of code. has Disney "patented" princesses? Can Banksy "patent" graffiti? its a dumb argument, and only serves to strangle the industry. I hope/wish the courts/arbitrators tell Nintendo to shove it where the sun don't shine.

I worry that nintendo is trying to set a precedent here more than anything. They ask for a small amount of money so that palworld is unlikely to fight it, thus establishing precedent for future, larger scale litigation either of them or others. If they pay, it legitimizes Nintendo's patents in the eyes of the public, the courts and other businesses. So I worry this is a shrewd long game play from them. At the same time, the low ask also helps with public perception and makes people less likely to see them as greedy/frivolously litigious.
