i think there's absolutely merit to the idea of "don't waste your first shot on the tank and give away your position," but if the other team knows where you are and the tank is the only person you can shoot at you might as well try to drop them to half health or put a good dent into their armor pool

In OW2 this season, no... And I wish it were but no it is the RNG of teammates. I had a game in Silver as Tank against a Cardboard Tier Tank. I lost against them because I had 1 and a half DPS that only knew how to feed. I ended up as Support for that Cardboard Tier Rein and they reported me for throwing because they couldn't counter a Zaria. They mostly kept their shield up then instantly died. Never got a single Elim while I as Support tried to heal, got several elims and did more DPS than my Tank because they never positioned well and never made a play. Yet they reported ME for throwing because I was in their last game against them. You know what that tells the algorithm??? This game is doomed...

The biggest thing with this Widow is positioning. It's literally atrocious. Also, the tunnel vision is incredible. My biggest two tips are be aware of the enemy and be ready to reposition. And this tip goes out to Ana players as well who play too close. Your character has a rifle, play like it.

This is why I hate the Widowmaker Character in General, it's really easy for players to basically do nothing and feel good about themselves, there's SOOO many widow mains and a lot of them do very little for the team as a whole. Hanzo, Ash, Cassidy, Zenyatta, Illari, Ana, and even Mei & Kiriko are all nice long range shooters that do a lot more for their teams.

They didn’t shoot at the tank that often because the amount of effort they have to put into killing them, they can’t kill 2-3 other people. They are elim farming instead of actually trying to win the game.

Real as hell. I've been accused of walling before because console Cass players don't seem to realise how loud his footsteps are while they're flanking to set up a High Noon. Forget paying for coaching, getting a faster modem, or anything else to give you an edge. Just buy a decent headset, and you're already at an advantage compared to a large chunk of console players.

The unused ult at the end of the game could actually have been a game changer ult. If Widow had gotten on high ground and just used the ult then they would have killed the Junk way earlier and provided preassure so that the other teammates might not have died. I'm not going to say that the rest of the team was perfect, but they played like silver players which is the most you can expect in a silver game. At that point if you're really better than silver you have to be the one that stands out

SO I finally finished the game, this guy is just in his own head and thinks he's great bc he can hit a few lucky shots sometimes, whoopty do. What he needs to understand is hitting a few lucky shots is not the same as being good at widow. PRACTICE! I played a lot of cod and got good at sniping so Im confident in my shot but Im not amazing, if you want to be competitive with widow you need to be more consistent with your shot ant take better spots that ill help you and your team succeed. As a diamond one trick widow I can say the fact that the enemy team dps or support didn’t counter swap him once shows that he wasn’t really doing much for his team in diamond the entire team counter swaps me after I get 3 kills the first two team fights. I will also say that only playing widow in ranked is never a good idea unless your aim is cracked out of this world even I had to pickup Ashe sojourn and echo after hitting gold bc after I got kicked off of widow I was a sitting duck. You will know how good you are if you start seeing more than just one person counter swap you after each team fight you provide a great impact.

Oh boy. 7 minutes in and I can say this is the kind of player I would avoid. It seems like this player doesn’t know where they are most of the time. Hard to believe they were plat. Could be that they never played Widow before and do better on other heroes. But this is 100% on them. Their team is playing a 4v5. If they keep playing this way they will struggle to stay in Silver. - My advice is this. Don’t play Widow in comp right now. Play Widow in quick play and learn what angles to take on every map. Pay attention to your quick play win rate on Widow. It will likely be under 50%. Keep at it until your win rate is above 55%. Build that awareness and confidence on the character. Review the quick play games. Ask yourself if you are taking the optimal angle. If not, make adjustments. Play comp again once you’ve done that. And continue to review games and ask yourself if you could have taken a better angle AND if you are rotating your position as you don’t want to stay in one place for too long.

not hard to believe. So much of the rankings is rng it seems. I see completely terrible players in diamond all the time. And I see god tier dps players stuck down in low gold as well. But if you get lucky with really good teams or a really good friend you can be carried super high, and if you are unlucky you can get nightmare teammates who don't even have thumbs. I've maybe had 1 game every with a negative kd as dps, and I'm not even good. But then I see guys who are masters players in my games going 1-15 as genji or sombra. It just makes no sense. And in many of those games you still manage a win so those guys keep ranking up despite being terrible.

If I'm Juno trying to do DPS and heal to get my Tank in the fight, I get called a thrower. Why? Because I was doing so much DPS instead of healing... I had more damage than my Tank but they wouldn't push up unless their shield broke. I can't out heal the entire team blasting them, and our Moira could heal quicker because Juno takes forever for lock on, while Moira can just toss an orb and heal everyone. I can't skill my way up with a bad team that blames me for their bad choices.

@@Adventist1997 If you have good mechanics, you can off angle and kill enemy supports and dps yourself. Easy to do on Kiriko because you have Suzu and teleport to cover up mistakes. Harder to do with Juno because your escape isn't instant like Kiriko, but you still have good movement. You'll get blamed/flamed on metal ranks whether you DPS or not. You can have 3k or 12k and will still get blamed. Callouts are braindead useless below plat or even diamond most of the time. Mute text chat and don't join voice. Don't let them get into your head. Play your own game. Heal priority people who are actually fighting. Keep an eye on criticals and try to save people. If you can off angle you can create space by distracting the enemy, or you can kill their supports and just by that you will out heal them. You win fights by killing enemy supports first. -- Kill the supports before your tank(s) throw.

Worst player on the team blaming teammates, check that on the bingo card. If you're a plat player that drops to silver and you're still losing you are beyond the point of no return of throwing away your ego to figure out what's wrong. Though I will say it anyway ...dump the ego, YOU are the problem. I did not see a plat player rolling silvers. I saw someone SMGing the final 20hp on clean up kills with a few scoped in shots. Sombra is everywhere these days and the enemy team did not see the need to swap to Sombra. That should tell you how scared they were of you. A plat widow should be the server admin in a silver lobby.

As someone with 216+ hours on widow, I can tell you that if the enemy team does not even swap to a sombra, genji, tracer, winston, or widow, you are doing something wrong. Seeing someone play like this, lose 15 games in a row, and then blame their teammate is so embarassing. It looks like this guy only sees widowmakers playing in mid range and thinks that they can do that too, not understanding that they lack the mechanical skill those widow's do to play in such a range. Also this guy needs to invest in some headphones. Dying to junktire twice on a map that has little to no flank routes should tell you that maybe, just maybe, widow is not for you.

I’m watching with headphones only on my left, and I can confidently say they have failed to react to everything I didn’t hear. That said they also didn’t hear the Moira fade on their left, they might just have hella low audio

@@Adventist1997 I have my audio set to mono cause I almost have no hearing in my left ear. Overwatch has pretty good sound design that even if it's mono I can hear pretty well where people are coming from. I think it's more of they have their audio set really low or they have some music on. Or well.. they just tunnel vision really badly. Edit: I scrolled down comments a bit more and the submitter said they play on their tv. The missed cues make more sense now c:

I'm not sure if it shows up in-game -- it might just be a replay viewer bug -- but what seems to be happening is that the dead heroes' models are being rendered again as corpses (we know the player model doesn't move right away because a dead player can spectate the area around their body) in preparation for teleporting them to spawn all at once in their "wave"

Had a Widow in my placement match yesterday. They were doing decent, but we really just needed more frontline pressure. When asked to switch they just instantly said no :/ Unfortunately Widow mains usually have a big ego, so I tend to avoid them as teammates... its so rare they actually turn the tides or do anything helpful. Remember, this was supposed to be an ego vod. What does this widow even do this game? :/

Snipers are my favorite characters in FPS games, but I understand that every map isn’t a sniper map, every team comp can’t be easily picked off, and I can’t play perfect every game. Switching is a core part of this game, refusing to do so, even on non widow characters, is just silly.
