@Dr. ProjectX I got my 21 for the same price 21,202 plus tax minus the 4500 from the California clean air program, which brought the most to 20000. But when GM bought it back, I just put the money on the euv. Plus they had a 2000 dollar off for being an uber driver and costco had a 500 dollar off for a total of 2500 off, which made it a good deal, especially after a 7500 federal tax rebate. I am sure that you got the new battery upgrade, which increased your mileage quite a bit. Plus when you change your battery, the battery starts all over again, which is a great deal

Congrats on your Bolt purchase. You are going to love it. I had a 2017 which I bought in 2019 to use as an uber driver and put 50000 miles on it and GM bought it back from me for everything I paid on it in May, 2021. End of May, 2021 I bought another bolt ev, brand new this time gor 21,200 and I received 4000 back from the California clean air program, which brought the cost down to 17,200. Plus in 2019 they installed a level 2 charger with full installation for free. Well, GM just bought my 21 as a buyback again for battery issues. I put 70000 miles on it since May 31, 2021 and all I did is rotate and replace tires. I waited until Sunday January 1st for federal tax purposes and bought a 2023 Bolt EUV redline edition with 2 packages and a lighted charge port for 29,200, because I received 2000 dollars off for Uber driver discount and 500 dollars for being a Costco member for a total of 2500 off. The redline package included leather seats with red stitching. It also also included the ventilated and heated seats. My wife and I also own a late 2021 Model Y Performance and a 2022 Model 3 long range. So when I tell you that as long as you don't mind the 55 kw charging, this is the best value for your money period. In my uber driving, I charge fully every night, and I get between 240 and 310 miles of driving depending on the weather and how much city and hwy driving I do, which is a lot more efficient than my teslas. My first 2 days of driving the EUV, I have average 280 miles on a full charge per day, way above the listed 247 miles.
@nevco8774
@nevco8774 Жыл бұрын
That is because you mostly drive on slower roads not highways and in that case the EUV with its much smaller aerodynamic profile and tires than any TESLA is much much more efficient. In fact this is the most efficient EV with a battery larger than 60 kWh sold on North American market period.

The credit isn't just free cash on the hood of the car, it comes from government giving you a break, which comes at the expensive of the taxpayer.. I might add that the reason the Bolt is $25k to start is because of poor sales and the beating it got in the press from various fires and recalls. I doubt GM is actually making much money now at $25k. I doubt they were making much money at $32k. GM is that desperate to sell them.

As for airlines, they are given loans during bankruptcies, similar to how GM was given a loan which they paid back. It's not subsidy or special credit that comes from a tax pool. One area where the 2023 Bolt really shines is the on-board L2 charger that Chevy includes: it's capable of up to 11.5 kW (48 amps at 240 volts). This is in contrast to the onboard chargers of most other PHEV and EV cars, that have maximum L2 charge rates of only 3, 6, or 7.2 kW. To charge at home at 11.5 kW, you would probably have to install a new dedicated 50 amp outlet in your garage, and a dedicated breaker for it in your electrical panel, as most home electric dryer outlets can only handle 30-amps (7,200 watts). But if you live somewhere that the power company offers an EV charging incentive to residential customers, charging a Bolt at home between midnight and 06:00am might cost as little as 9.5¢/kw-hour; that's less than 1/2 what you would pay for gasoline, per mile, in a similar-sized car like a Honda Civic Hybrid or Toyota Corolla Hybrid. How long does it take to fully charge a completely flat Bolt at home? That depends on how cold it is where you live, but assuming the temperature in your garage is no colder than 40°F, if your home 240 volt power system can deliver 48 amps (11.5 kw), full charge would take 6 hours. If your home wiring can only support 30 amps (7,200 watts), full charge time would be about 9.5 hours. But you don't have to full charge all that often, so most of the time, the 6 hours between midnight and 6:00am would be more than enough to top off the Bolt to full charge. Charging at home on the L2 charger is not only far less expensive than what most L3 fast charg stations ding you for (Electrify America is a staggering 43¢/kw-hr!), it also puts less stress on any EV battery than L3 fast chargers.

He did have some difficulties finding charging stations and the range was considerably less than EPA due to the need for heating the interior of the car and perhaps cold battery?? And my state offers up to $7500 rebate on it. ($2500 for all buyers, up to $5000 more depending on income.) That makes this effectively $10,000. For a brand new 250+ mile range EV. I've been looking for one ever since I learned about this back in mid december. From what I've found, it is, as TFL would put it, "unobtainium". I can find a few, but the dealerships that have them are all charging, on average, 5k over sticker. I did put in an order at a dealership that charges MSRP, but they estimated nearly a year for the order to be fulfilled which may be too late. I'm just hoping the IRS keeps pushing out the guidelines so that I can still get the full tax credit. TFL can you find one for me? I live in UT, so not too far away from you guys. 😉

No, sitting for a year and half didn't affect the battery -- they replaced the battery! I got a 2022 Bolt, with 9 miles on it, a year after they made it -- and a day after they replaced the battery! Awesome you got a base Bolt EV. They are a killer deal I keep telling people. I had an EV Premier and LOVED it. Fun to drive, affordable, parks anywhere, great intuitive controls and displays. An overlooked great little car at a time when everyone else is raising their prices.

I have driven a 2022 EUV Premier and I believe each trim has different plastic interior with upper trim looking and feeling not really bad at all. In fact the worst in upper trim is the badge which could easily go by as Buick or Cadillac especially if equipped with super cruise as is gas Cadillac equipped anyway.

Those are 2 distinct cars: Bolt EV is the most efficient and cheapest practical small but with a decent range EV while MINI EV is just a higher quality cool looking mostly week-end toy with a very short range but zippy with a fun oriented drivability. Tom never hid the intensions and purpose of owning of both vehicles. However for folks who need to chose either one or the another then that is a very unrewarding task indeed tearing off the soul of those wanting both but being able to afford just one.

@@nevco8774 My SE was 37K but should come down about 10K with tax incentives. I never "road-trip" and a full charge on the Mini will last me at least 4-5 days of around town journeys. @@tkusterb Last time I checked Chevy offers installing level 2 charger home with both 2022 and 2023 Bolts EV and EUV. For its features Bolt has the best level 2 charging ability in its class - 11 kW. The GM company literally has built the best commuter EV out there obviously ignoring the need for fast charging upgrade. I believe whoever purchase this vehicle for long trips is mistaken it’s intended purpose it was built for in the first place.

We have a 2017 model year but it's basically the same car. And, yes, it is an excellent North American city car. Like you, I just wish the rapid charging were better, though. We have a 2022 LT2 and love it. The LT2 gets you heated seats and steering wheel as well as the 360⁰ camera. You can get the heated seats and steering wheel as an option on the LT1. It's a fantastic commuter car. In the non winter months we were getting. With 85% city and 15% highway 4.3-4.7 miles / kwh (6.9 - 7.6 km/kwh) and range ~300 miles (480 km) Highway at 60 mph (97 kph) 3.9 miles / kwh and range ~250 miles (400 km) Highway at 75 mph (120 kph) 3.1 miles / kwh and range ~200 miles (320 km) In December I am got: With 85% city 15% highway 2.7 miles / kwh and range ~175 miles (281km) The Bolt reports ~ 35% of the energy used is for the climate control. The Bolt does not have a heat pump and uses resistant heating. Most of these are short trips 1 to 15 miles. On a recent 256 mile trip averaging ~55 mph (88 kph) with a 15 to 20 mph (24 to 32 kph) headwind and temperatures starting at 15F (-9C) and ending at 5F (-15C) I averaged 2.7 m/kw with a range of 175 miles. We were driving in snow and the roads were not great which explains my slower speeds. Interestingly only 12% of the energy used was for the climate control. Much less than our daily driving. Which shows the initial heating of the cabin takes more energy than keeping it warm. Yes the DC fast charge speed is slow compared to cars costing at least $12,000 more but if you are only taking a few trips a year it is doable. I would recommend the Bolt for anyone looking for a fun, affordable EV.

10:10 Certainly a very good deal for a 65 kWh battery vehicle, but 55 kW charging rate would be not too great for a road trip. - Could you make a review of charging on a L2 public charger and a CCS Fast Charging station. - Also can you show on the car's display, an itinerary with the location on the map of the CCS chargers to use. - And also can you check the range and the total charging time when doing a 500 miles to 1,000 miles road trip.
