@BebeDaull these are my thoughts exactly. Millie was not even given a chance, she got the same boring face everytime when if you look at fan repaints she is absolutely stunning. The problem is that mattel doesn't switch up the makeup, and Odile will suffer the same fate as Millie if they don't get creative.

I liked the Millie closed mouth a lot. Generally not a fan of dolls with a laughing face so changes are always good. I‘d suggest changing the facemolds every now and then. I love that they sometimes use the old Teresa face or Lara. 🥰🥰

I sold my rebodied violet mermaid because I couldn’t stand the pixelated face, even visible without glasses. And terrible in photos (as doll photography is my hobby). I really hope they’re going to abolish this printing method. But as long as they’re selling… 🤷🏼‍♀️ I mean, most of the collector dolls are quite ok but sometimes also slightly pixelated. Terrible. I have 3 signature dolls on preorder (and hope they won’t be too shiny and pixelated) but have sold most of my Barbies, especially the more recent ones. Don’t like the lack of quality nowadays. 😩 Even Integrity Toys dolls which I also collect are getting worse and worse in quality and yet more expensive. 😡

The new Barbie with the Odile Facemold looks really cute. If I'm good at rerooting with actual doll hair, then I would be able to transform her into my own version of the 2022 Holiday Odile Barbie. The outfits the doll comes with look really cute. And yes, the shapeless T-Shirt Dress is back, but I find T-Shirt Dresses more suitable for Ken. Hopefully, Beauty Inside A Box doesn't take this doll set too seriously.

I like the Odile face mold, like is so pretty, but I don’t want it to be the standard. The look doesn’t look like most the dolls and takes away from the uniqueness most the Barbie face molds have now. I think they should have like it’s own brand for that face mold (like MyScene did back in the day) and have the Millie Mold or a more realistic looking one be for like the Fashionistas’ line.

I love Millie and I feel sad for her because she was never allowed to fly and show off the way superstar and GG did. Mattel did not handle her well and if they make Odile the main face and they handle her the way they did Millie with the same makeup every time, even she will become a tired and boring face.

They also made her mold larger and less appealing with the lack of diversity in faces. They made her homely and less interesting. Then mixed with the lack of quality and lack of cute clothes, she gave nothing. The og Millie sculpt isn’t bad. They gave her makeup, didn’t overblow her face mold, and gave her interesting hair. It’s sad that they lost direction with Barbie for a bit. We can have diversity and quality in design and execution. Unfortunately they’ve done her dirty.

She came right after the pink superstar era, when Barbies had glitter makeup, big skirts and trendy hairstyles. Finally if they can't make quality at least make the dolls suck less with a pretty sculpt, everyone is sick of Millie, people forget or simply are oblivious to the fact that before the Superstar sculpt Barbie was originally a glamorous model all during the vintage and MOD eras, I dunno where they came up with this archetypes of Barbie "needs to be relatable and next door" according to the brand's lore and slogans Barbie can be anything... Not only a blonde wall flower with a goofy smile... XDDD Also Barbie has been stuck on the superstar and mild variations of it since the 80's a drastic change was sorely needed! GG, Superstar and Millie all look way too similar it's time to change with the times and leave those villainous thin lips behind. The Walmart fashions seem to be here to stay though... XDDDD That and the plastic no detail jewellery and shoes, long ago Barbie wore designer, nowadays she shops at Ross and Payless and when no one's watching she orders from Temu and Shein and tries to pass it as collector pieces... XDDDD

My guess is that it’s less costly to just stick on a popular head sculpt onto a generic doll than improve the quality of the actual clothing throughout the whole play line. It’ll get more collectors buying the playline dolls if Odile shows up once in a while. But I don’t believe for a second she’ll replace Millie since the brand is still fundamentally centered on Barbie’s relatability, and Odile is a too glamorous to be the face of that brand whereas the homely and unremarkable Millie fits it more appropriately

I agree. People wish for Odile to replace Millie, but if they do that, Odile will end up just like Millie, overused. Odile will just become ordinary, nothing special. If she follows the Millie pattern, she'll only be be blonde or fantasy hair colors. You'll never see her as a brunette or red hair. You'll probably never see her as black either since Black Barbie is Brooklyn. If Millie stays the same and Odile makes an occasional appearance, it's possible you'll see her in all those combinations

I LOVE the new eye style they are using on this doll, the pink premiere and the upcoming color change fairy doll SO MUCH 🎉😍 It reminds me of the eyes of 90's Barbie where I could just stare at the eyes as a kid, in awe of how beautiful and magical they looked. Still the 90's eyes are better but I definately see a resemblance! People are now wondering if Odile will be the new Barbie face mold. I am not a fan! 🤭 I LOVE the new eye style but I like it better on the Millie sculpt (the color change fairy) because I like smiling dolls so much more than closed mouth dolls. I feel a little sad for Millie that she's had a very dull screening all this time while she could have looked so nice if the got the new eye style way earlier 🥺 I hope we will get more Millie releases with the new eyes before she's done!! And of course they have to change little things in the screening between releases, it's never good to do the exact same eyes, makeup etc over and over again 🙈

Wow! New person, here. Your thumbnail brought me in! Great show! My feeling is God, now dolls are made to look like they had plastic surgery? Our perfections , so to speak, give us character. They make us unique and special. Now it looks like they cannot show expression. Numbness- I guess people do not want to feel anything. Cookie- cutter. Robots. Kardashian excess and vapidity- fake people in a fake world. Whatever happened to authenticity? At least Barbie looked like the girl next door. Her features were still life-like and human. She could be glamorous if/ when she wanted to be. The new Odile is just good old fashioned conformity. The point I am trying to make is you can have Odile on the market as herself. However, do not mistake her as Beloved Barbie. That character, that role, and that place is already taken. In my humble opinion, of course.

I think that face is cute. I don’t know the name of the sculpt, but my favorite doll face is the one on my 50th Anniversary Corvette Barbie (mines in red). I think it’s her sultry eye pose, not to mention she has the model body with the sorta side stance. I’m having to restore her dress because the shiny paint has rubbed off… she was well loved by someone and not box kept. I got her for free from someone giving away a box of Barbies and accessories. Do you have any ideas of what I could use to repaint the dress to give the slick/shiny leather look?

Okay. .. Sure, you get a doll and three different fashions for $20 (which is STILL too much), but the doll has five points of articulation and the fashions & accessories are dreadful.
