Jael, washing your vegetables and other stuff under a running tank tap you're wasting a lot of water. As you said its dry season there so if wash you veg in a bucket that water can then water your veg or plants. Try putting cinnamon in your carrot cake it will taste even better.x

Jael, I understand that it's hot out there, but the villagers will be just fine without sunscreen. Proper hydration, working outdoors during the early morning hours whenever possible, is enough. I live in Arizona, and for us 38°C in the summer is a blessing, we get 45°C plus temps for weeks, and we're surviving! There are many parts of the world that get very hot and dry in certain seasons. Your yard is still green and lush. Be thankful for this, and don't give into unfounded fears. God bless!

Our melanin offers us a lot of protection from skin cancer. I worked in the medical field for a long time and I have never seen a black person with skin cancer. (I’m not saying it’s never happened). I also grew up in the country side where people work out in the sun all day and I don’t know of anyone with skin cancer in my village. The sunlight helps to make Vitamin D which is very vital for a good immune system. Caucasians on the other hand are very prone to skin cancer.

Correct. The lighter ones skin the higher the probability of getting skin cancer. Darker skin may turn red and/or burn due to being outside longer than normal. This is usually an indication that one needs to seek shelter.

Since I was born,which is over 40 years now,I have never heard of an African with skin cancer due to sun exposure,we are people of the sun,I got to see melanoma for my first time here in Australia,I don’t even use sunscreen,our melanin is enough protection we need. And the other hand ,for the farmers,yes too much sun for the crops is not very good,it’s good to do a homemade slow drip irrigation system. ❤

I love the heat but I truly understand the problem it causes for farmers. During the summer months, I make a simple all-natural sunscreen using shea butter, coconut oil, palm oil and zinc. It works well for us. I make this because I usually get sunburn on my shoulders even though I am a dark person. I don't use store bought sunscreen because it has to much harmful chemicals in it. Stay positive. The rain will come soon.

I hope Lexi is all settled in her new school and looking forward to great things. I always enjoy your kitchen moments. I pray for rain soon in your area and other parts of Kenya that are in need of the rain showers. Looking forward to your future content. Mungu akubariki ♥️🙏🏾🌹🫶🏾🌺🙋🏾♀️

Jael, I would suggest using long sleeved cotton or polyester shirts and a wide brimmed hat to protect one’s skin from the sun. Our older farmers, (males and females)in Grenada always dressed in long shirts. There are also some hats with an additional piece at the back to cover the neck.

I humbly disagree. Climate change is real and the heat is definitely climbing. I have seen quite a lot of black people with sun burn which for some people can be a precursor to squamous cells carcinoma, the most common type of skin cancer in black people. I would still be very careful when the UV index is high. When working in the yard or garden I personally prefer to wear long dresses with long sleeves and a wide brim hat because they do offer some level of protection. A friend who is black went for a holiday in Hawaii. She Did not use sunscreen. She came back with severe sunburn and her skin peeled for like 2 weeks.
@irenechola17802 ай бұрын
@@leah4892 I did not mean we do not take caution when out in the sun. So yes indeed dress appropriately and hydrate. But lathering in sun screen or even totally avoiding the sun is actually detrimental. You need vitamin D. Sun screen products are a man made dependence that we do not need. Did you know that bad cooking oils, sugar and junk makes you more susceptible to sun burns... don't blame the sun for what sugar did.

You mention composting, where i live it is four season. so what i do is use all the leaves, and all the clippings, the dry plants. and put it in my composting. bin. it help my soil all your banana leaves. even wood chip. the weather is changing all over the world. this is the hottest year. so the soil dries out very fast. what i do is put cardboard box around the plants. you have to tear the box up. make sure you keep it wet.so the soil will stay wet.

Caucasian skin especially in the northern hemisphere where I reside, is very very pale. In fact, I have seen many of these people get severe sunburn within minutes of exposure during a hot day! They definitely need sunscreen to protect their skin. On the other hand, black Africans have natural protection from the sun due to high levels of melanin in our skin. For that, I’m grateful.
