As an owner of a manual base 991.1 - I couldn't agree more. Classic 911 vibe, howling NA engine, super enjoyable to use. The 7 speed manual box for me is a miss though, too many cogs and gears are way too long. Life is long, and I'm sure I'll end up with a GTS or if I'm very lucky a GT3 one day!

I’m glad I decided to keep the 964Turbo all these years, but have now also settled on the 997.2 GT3. Good thing I bought it 5 yrs ago when they were affordable,… but now will NEVER let this 997.2 GT3 go. It is better than ANY of the newer machines imo.

I was caught between a 991.1 and 991.2 both S manual last year. I ultimately chose the 991.2 because other than sound, it was better in every other aspect. The steering felt better, the clutch was easier to daily, the low end torque and speed, the cheap horsepower you can make, the list just goes on. The MA2 engine is also flawless and reliable other than the water pump which is an easy fix. Yes, it was more expensive but I believe it will be more future proof in terms of performance and CarPlay than the 991.1.

@@jimsteinway695 In your particularly case sir, I would keep the .2 GT3. Personally, I like the looks better than in the 992, in my mind the .2 is peak Porsche design. Tbf I’d rather have NA even tho i prefer looks of 991.2, now I can only afford BMW maybe 911 in the future. Just sayin you should never rest palm on the gear lever it put pressure on the mechanism and deteriorate it more. Any 991 is a W and more beautiful than 992 imo

You are correct. I brain farted on the question I guess bc of being on camera and answered what I paid for the car by accident. MSRP for base Carrera was about 83,000 and with packages this car was 92k MSRP new in 2013.

Unless it’s something like a GT3, V10 Carrera GT, or a V12 Ferrari, choosing a car solely on “the sound is better” is just idiocy. Your 991.2T is far superior in every way. Want more sound? Upgrade the exhaust or cats.
@TommyLGarage7 ай бұрын
I do have upgraded cats and headers but I do hear your point
@3RDPDL7 ай бұрын
I wouldnt say superior I would say different. They are both incredible but totally different experiences. Not really about picking the car based on the sound alone but more the total vibe. They look similar but couldn’t be more different in personality

Not a true 991.1 vs 991.2 comparison considering Tommy G did all these upgrades to his car including a ECU tune. If the 991.2 T had the NA sounds - end of story.

Can't get over the front turn signal design. Makes the car look unfinished. That and you have to take off the rear bumper to do basic service. Size makes it more of a GT car than a sports car. A departure from classic 911. If you want a more modern 996 this is the car.

@@TommyLGarage Absolutely, the Cayman is now more 911 than a 992.
@MrGB1999Ай бұрын
The Porsche 3.4 (sadly) is *so* slow. It shouldn't really be called a sports car engine. Not anymore. The 991 3.8 is far nippier and a 911 that isn't crazy old, needs to have that kind of go. Core out the exhausts and add sport cats and the 3.8 will be sh*t off a shovel. Another thing to note, NA 911 engines are very peaky. They are not torquey so you have go find the power (the fun bit). In saying all this, coming from an F430 the 3.8 GT4 felt painfully slow. Perhaps the loooong gears.. Porsche seems to hold back their cars (or did). Something I struggle to understand or really respect.
