A quick note here. In fact, the maximum bitrate KZbin can actually render is 68 Mbps, or 68,000 kilobytes. Anything higher than that could make it better or worse. But, in my opinion, it makes it cleaner.
@SebastianFriedrichVisuals2 жыл бұрын
Hey! Oh thanks for pointing out the max bitrate of KZbin, didn't know that! :) I always set my bitrate for KZbin for a 4K video between 100-120K! :)

Thanks for the info! That was a "mistery" for me, cause I realized the higher it was set (up to a certain point) the better it could get. However, I made some trials with 200k Kb/s, 500k Kb, sec, max. Kb/s (it is around 2M), but over 100k Kb/s there was no any sensible difference in quality.

If you’re recording in 1080 I wouldn’t upscale to 4K - but otherwise it’s fine. You could also go with 80K I think, should be fine and you have smaller file sizes!:)

@@SebastianFriedrichVisuals It's a trick to make your youtube videos with better quality. Just edit at 1080p then export 4k, normally you don't get any advantages nor disadvantages BUT youtube unlocks VP9 for you(which only for channels with so many subs) and your videos will be so much better than uploading 1080p. And thank you, i'll try 80k bitrate then :)

Hi! I have almost 2hr wedding project, and I don’t need to upload it on KZbin, what would be the best render quality you would suggest? Is it still this one? Also, my second question is, what if I already start editing my videos, can I still change my settings before rendering it? And you mean that project setting and render/export setting should be the same, right?
@SebastianFriedrichVisuals2 жыл бұрын
Hey Jessica! Thanks for the question, but it’s not that simple to answer. If you aren’t concerned about file size, I would go with the bitrate mentioned in this video, if you are however, then try to lower the bitrate by 10k-20k, depending on your resolution, accordingly. To answer your second question: Yes you can, but not the timeline framerate. This one is locked. If you want to change the framerate for a current project, right click in the media pool, create a new timeline and there you want to set The framerate that you want. Then go back to your original timeline, highlight all the clips, copy them and paste them in the new timeline. To answer the third question: partly. You can have different project and render settings, but lets say your timeline is in 1080, if you export at 4K, you are upscaling your footage which could result in less quality. Also you want to leave your timeline framerate as is. Lets say you edit in a 24fps timeline, you also want to export 24fps. If you change this in the Export settings, you might run into a choppy video!:) I hope this answer has brought some light to your questions!:)

Thanks for watchign man, glad you like it! :)
@SebastianFriedrichVisuals3 жыл бұрын
I totally forgot to answer your question! Yes, typically when you want to export a higher frame rate project (maybe a gaming montage at 60fps) you would raise that number. Because bitrate is just "data over time" and if the bitrate is higher, that just means each frame has a little higher kb at its disposal, which ultimately leads to a "cleaner" image! Hope this brought some clarity! :)

I mean, you create a new project and then select the edit page on the bottom, then you are on the timeline. Then it is clearly shown to select the steering wheel in the bottom right corner to open up the settings tab, change the settings accordingly as shown in this video. After all of that being done, go to the render page (bottom of the screen, last icon on the right, the rocket) and change the settings accordingly

Just open up DR, then go all the way up in the top left corner to 'DaVinci Resolve' and then select 'Preferences'. Hello. Thanks for the lesson. Can you tell me - is it possible in Davinci, when scaling the timeline, to drag video pieces along it? I switch from the premiere to Davinci and could not understand what this function is called (if it is connected separately) - For some reason, when I change the timeline scale, the video pieces fly to the beginning of the composition and dragging is possible only if you do not scale the timeline at all.

Thanks for the video! That's helpful, I usually leave the quality at auto.. My question is, is it fine to render 4K with just CPU? I mean, with the current market price for GPU it's really hard to find an affordable GPU So when I'm rendering it always makes the CPU to work 100% which make me quite worried. CPU is Ryzen 5 3600 btw.
@SebastianFriedrichVisuals2 жыл бұрын
Hey Scelusia! Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment! I am glad you like it! :) Of course, it is totally fine to use just the CPU to render. The current prices for a GPU is bonkers, wouldn't recommend to buy a GPU right now - in my windows PC however I got a GeForce 1060 6gb which is absolutely fine and relatively cheap - or, what I would also recommend, if you're in the market for an 'editing' PC - I got myself a Mac mini M1 with 16gb ram, you get one on Apple refurbished for around 600-700$ and that thing is incredible - cheaper, than just a GPU and it shreds my 1060 6gb - render times on the Mac compared to the Windows: Mac is 3 times faster! But back to your question - if you have the time to render using only your CPU, that is totally fine! If you need your PC for more stuff, start the rendering when you go to bed and let it render over night, so by the morning it is finished and you can still use your pc! :)
@scelusiasadventure22782 жыл бұрын
@@SebastianFriedrichVisuals Indeed, I don't know how long the price will continue like this, I even thought of getting those T400/T600 GPU for editing. Maybe I'll just wait a little more... I see, then it's fine then, I just kinda worried that it might shorten the CPU lifetime or something when it does 100% work everytime it render 4K vids. Thank you for the kind reply!
@SebastianFriedrichVisuals2 жыл бұрын
Yes, if you are on a tighter budget I would definitely recommend to wait until the prices drop, then you'll get more for less money! Don't worry, your CPU probably isn't going to "wear out" or anything like that! You are more than welcome! :)

Thank you so much for this great video! One thing I wasnt sure so, what does "decode quality setting" really mean and when is it utilized? (perhaps during rendering or perhaps already during the editing?). If the latter, is it comparable with the timeline proxy mode (like half or quarter resolution)? Your help would be very much appreciated.
@SebastianFriedrichVisuals2 жыл бұрын
The decode quality is for editing only! However, it is NOT needed when you are working with regular, non-raw file formats! If you are working with raw formats and you change this, it's like timeline proxy mode, just as you said, only for the raw material. If you change this during editing, make sure to change it back before exporting OR make sure to select "force sizing to highest quality" AND "force debayer to highest quality" - if you check those, the decode format will automatically be set to "full res" on exporting! :)

@@northeastdroneproductions Hey man! This depends on the bitrate of your clip, but overall resolve has a very little default bitrate, that's why I never used it before. You might even go higher than 100k. You could try 120k - 140k and see if the quality is better this way! :)
@iamteedoh2 жыл бұрын
@@SebastianFriedrichVisuals I don't know if this is the right approach but what I typically do after my video is shot is look at the video file info using VLC or Quicktime (Video Inspector) and check the bitrate of the video. If I see it's 120Mbps bitrate for the clip(s), then I convert that number to Kbps, which is 120,000. I don't ever do 1080p at one rate and 4K at another. I just look at the bitrate data of the clip itself and make note of that. Then during my export, I convert it to Kbps, as I just explained. Again, I have no idea if this is a good approach but the quality seems to be much better for me when I do this. Thank you for your video, it was indeed helpful :)

Hi, In the "Camera Raw" setting, reducing the decode quality to Half, Quarter etc. Is this the same as reducing the quality in the "Playback" menu "Timeline proxy resolution"?
@SebastianFriedrichVisuals2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes, you are right, but, 2 things (important!!!): 1. this only affects raw files 2. you have to manually set it back to full if you've changed this OR you have to check force debater to highest quality AND force sizing to highest quality! Otherwise you're doomed because unlike timeline proxy mode, it doesn't automatically set back to highest quality so keep that in mind! Hope this helps you! :)

@SebastianFriedrichVisuals Жыл бұрын
Yeah, that was a little unclear! Leave your timeline framerate the framerate your source material is and Match that with the export framerate! In your case 60 is correct, but you’re also limiting yourself when it comes to slow motion, because you would need a gaming to be recorded in a higher framerate than 60(I.e. 120fps) if you want to slow down the clips on the same 60fps timeline

What about larger files? I have a project of 35 minutes but when rendered it comes around 14 GB which is way to much for me to send to my clients. What's the solution for this? Do you have any suggestions. Much appreciated.
@SebastianFriedrichVisuals2 жыл бұрын
Well, larger projects require more space. You could lower the Bitrate by 20k and see how the results are going to be. I mean, most of my YT vids are 10 GB. Quality needs space, you could, however, if you want to offer a really great service, buy a couple 32 GB usb sticks with your logo on and upload the files to that - then I'm sending the final product on that nice USB stick in a nice little box over to my clients. It's the little things that make clients even more happy lol. I'm sorry. Try to lower the Bitrate as I said, or, if your doing an IG video you probably don't need 4k,lower the res to 1350x1080 or 1920x1080. That's what I would try

Hey Wesley - if you set your timeline resolution high (4k) it'll slow editing down, especially with fusion work or a heavy color grade. If you have filmed in 4k, then just leave the timeline in 1080 and edit in 1080. And right before you are about to export, go to your project settings and set the timeline resolution to 4k, so you can render it in 4K. :)

@SebastianFriedrichVisuals2 жыл бұрын
This basically determines the file size of your final video - the larger, the more quality. By reading the DaVinci Resolve manual, I can guarantee that restricting your quality to 50-100k will get you better results than leaving it at Auto because Resolve has a set restriction at auto build in, that sits (don’t quote me in that - I believe it sits at around 10-20K) That should answer your questions and concerns

My work is mostly architectural. Vertical lines in the buildings render out with pretty bad jitters as the drone filmed horizontally. I'm rendering at high settings but the jitters are very obvious. They are not there in my original 30 fps footage. Much of the footage I had to speed ramp up or just increase the speed of the entire clip. Any way to smooth out horizontal panning jitters?
@SebastianFriedrichVisuals2 жыл бұрын
Well, I assume you are talking about the "moirè" effect, that happens really often on drone shots when filming buildings. Getting rid of that in post is very tough and I have found a slight workaround that works for me: First of all, go to the color page , add a slight bit of noise reduction (If you have the studio version), then add a slight bit of blur (really only a little bit) and then on another new node add a little bit of sharpness back in! This solved the issue for me, a bit at least! :)

Man, I watched tons of tutorial videos and this was the simplest yet the best! Kudos to you One quick question, what was the downside if I keep exporting into 60fps? All of my videos are in 60fps
@SebastianFriedrichVisuals2 жыл бұрын
Hey man, thank you so much!!! :) I'm happy to hear that! To answer your question - sometimes there is no 'downside' in exporting and editing in 60fps. That's totally up to you and the type of videos you produce. For example, if you're filming with a regular camera, you typically want to go 24fps to have the most natural amount of motion blur. If you are filming in 24 fps and edit in a 60fps timeline, resolve basically has to reproduce the 'missing' frames which could end up in a stuttery video. However, on the other side, if you do for example gaming related stuff, you want 60 FPS, because that's the typical framerate for games, which will give you less motion blur, what's better for gaming related content! :) Hope this'll answer your question, if you feel like there's anything missing or 'unclear', just let me know! :) Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment - highly appreciated! :)

@SebastianFriedrichVisuals2 жыл бұрын
Hey man! That's my bad, I totally missed the point about "screen recordings" / "gaming videos" in this video! So sorry about that! There's nothing wrong with exporting in 60fps because most softwares that you use to capture your screen with record in 30 / 60fps and you play your games at 60 / 144 / etc hz. Just make sure you set your timeline resolution to 60fps when you start your project and you want to render in 60fps. If you forget to set your timeline to 60fps and export in 60fps you will have a stuttery video! :) Otherwise, things are just fine with 60fps as well! :)

Hi, Since this video is also about the render-page I want to ask you as a pro something that resolved around my mind for a long time. I really hope you as a pro have a good solution.. Lets say I have a finished rendered video of 30min length. (this took a couple of hours to render because I used raw-footage). And then I figure out that within the last 60 sec there is a big mistake I need to correct. Do you have me a good solution for this? I only know of two ways (either way is not really desirable I find). 1. I correct the bad clip and render it all over again; 2. I use the rendered video-clip as a basis and cut off the last 60 sec and add the corrected part of the raw-clip. In this way I have a slight quality loss in the first video-clip (the one that was already rendered). But either way Davinci will render the whole thing. Is there not a way where Davinci will render only the last 60sec oder somehow add the two clips just together? :-)
@SebastianFriedrichVisuals2 жыл бұрын
Well, if you just want to render the last 60 seconds, you can go to the last 60 seconds, hit ‚i‘ on your keyboard (to create an in-point; then go to the end, hit ,o‘ to create an out point and then just render the in and out range, so you only have the last 60 seconds!:)
@valis16802 жыл бұрын
I need one whole 30 min video-clip. What is the purpose of just rendering the 60s clip? I could do that but how do I add it to the other 29min clip without having Davinci render all 30min all over again?

@@valis1680 oh, guess I misunderstood your comment, in the last part you asked about just rendering the last 60 seconds. Mh. Do you have the studio version of resolve? Great video! Saved it as a preset for exporting :) but I was wondering. If I edit 4k on a 1080 timeline. The export page says you can change the final resolution, do I have to also change both the timeline AND the export page to 4k or can I leave the timeline at 1080 and export in 4k (read your response to someone else below here, but I saw in Davinci that you can change the export so idk if that means I also have to change the timeline as well)
@SebastianFriedrichVisuals2 жыл бұрын
Hey EJ, thank you so much for the comment! You're partly right. Let me clarify this in an easy, understandable way. You can edit 4K clips in a 1080 timeline but those clips will be 'converted' to 1080, which means they lose a little bit of quality. If you go to the render page with the timeline set to 1080, you can still export 4K, BUT, as I said, your original 4K file is compressed to a lower 1080 version and if you select 4K rendering on a 1080 timeline resolve will take that 'lower, compressed' version and upscale it to 4k, which means youre final export will be an even lower quality 4k. Think of it like that: you take an OG 1080 clip and export it to 4k - quality loss. To prevent this, you can edit your whole project in 1080 (it's just faster) and right before you go to the render page, open the project settings and change it to 4K, then go to the render page and export it in real 4K!:) Just a little side note to the last step: if you plan on doing fusion animations like title effects with masks, do those after you set your timeline resolution back to 4k, because if you do this before, it could mess up some of the animations and scales of your fusion comps! Okay, very long answer but I genuinely hope this gives you all the informations that you need! :)
