Let's take a look at the best settings for a KZbin Render out of Resolve 17! There are a few ways of thinking behind this, and to make an educated decision, I decided to do some SCIENCE!
So I spent the better part of a day making renders, uploading to KZbin, and then screen capturing them and pixel peeping. It was arduous, it was boring, it was...enlightening?
Basically, my findings are this:
If you have H.265, use that. Then upscale it to UHD to get the best quality for the smallest size.
And to help keep the quality of your videos high, check out some of these sweet deals:

Yes, the BEST Davinci Resolve channel on the KZbins. I say this every video: If this channel didn't exist, I never would have stuck with Davinci Resolve because I was so frustrated trying to learn it... until I found Casey. And humorous as well! LOL. Easily this channel should have 1M-2M subs.

Thanks a lot for this. I found so many tutorials saying the exact opposite and they are just wrong. Nobody proves their points they just base it on theory "upscaling is bad", "putting a higher bitrate than KZbin recommends doesn't make sense" blablabla. I tested it all out myself after watching your video and the other bad tutorials and I can only confirm what you are saying. Upscaling will have exactly that effect that KZbin will allow for a higher bitrate and therefore less compression and better quality. Good job man, really appreciate the proof and facts!

This was really helpful and I like the rule-of-thumb of doubling your kb/s in relation to frame rate when rendering h.265. When I had my four year old AMD graphics card, I was able to render all my masterpieces in h.265 with Noise Reduction and all sorts of transitions and colour corrections. Basically I could go nuts and projects would render every time. I now have a new RTX 3070 and at the moment it is temperamental with Davinci Resolve Studio 16 and Resolve Studio 17 Beta. If I want to render a project in h.265, then I have to ensure that all Noise Reduction is turned off/disabled on any colour node. Just one active node of Noise Reduction causes every single render to fail, without exception. If you have large h.264 files and want to transcode to h.265 for smaller file sizes, but keeping good quality, to upload to KZbin-Land then I can highly recommend this tutorial that I found. Its not exactly "Work Safe" because the tutor says the occasional rude word. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXWVnGSCZ52FY6s
