This Woman was FIRED During her Actual WEDDING DAY...

This woman was fired on her actual wedding day by text. And what was worse, the company and her boss were fully aware that it was her wedding day. The idea that someone could take that moment to give her that news is just horrendous and one of the most toxic things that I have encountered.
What was meant to be one of the most special moments in her life was tainted. And it just was so unnecessary. Everything I found out about this company just sounded awful. From firing people without giving any reasons, to toxic behaviours, to guilt trips, basically everything you would expect a company that would fire someone on their wedding day to be.
Is this the worst day you can be told that you were fired?

I was front row to this sh** show. Ruined her day. I was so angry for the couple. She was given glowing feedback while working and then to have this on her wedding day. I’m very proud of her for not laying down and taking it and I’m glad that in some ways this company is going to be shown to be the horrible company they are. I appreciate Ben giving her a voice too.

@@fdm2155 I dont think it was . I suspect it is the Napoleon complex of not caring for minions as they dont matter . From whats stated they have a large turnover of staff and thats because they are not valued and are easily replaceable . I have worked for a place that was very much the same . The boss had a new £100K car every year ( with one of his selections of private plates ) and a house in Cyprus as a weekend get away but yet cost restraints ment mini wage and a 3 strikes and you are out policy . A strike could be talking to someone on the way or back from the toilet even if it was work related ! . You talk to those in charge only ............... i didnt last long 🙂 . Oddly i wasn't fired but walked away which was apparently unusual . There raison d'etre was to take on foreign workers who couldnt speak English , give them complicated work loads , watch them fail then sack them the same day for being useless at the role . You soon learned to called everyone mate as to remember a name was pointless .

I was fired once during probation because my performance was not up to standards (they forced me and lured me into taking the position that I did not want), and it happened right after I came back from holidays. That passive aggressive kiss.. the toxic team… asking if she’s planning on starting a family….inappropriate on so many levels. As for the Stephen Hawking comment- that in itself is a lawsuit. That bit about her chair was reprehensible. We had some people in our office that had specialized needs for various reasons. They each received one of the newer, more expensive ergonomic chairs. They were assigned to the individual. They had signage that nobody else could use them. It was considered a matter of respect that you keep out of them. They had each been individually fitted. Please note, this was in an organization with hundreds of employees on the shifts and everyone was assigned to a team area, but not individual desks. We were all hot-desking, with afternoon and evening shifts taking over the spots from the earlier shifts. Of course, we would laugh at each other as we swiped our favorite chairs, etc. Yet, we all respected our fellow employees and pulled over one of the regular chairs instead of messing with the claimed chairs. For that other employee to deliberately alter her settings is reprehensible. They used her chair, they changed her settings, there were rudely discriminatory comments made, then they were liars and gaslighting that she made it up? Ugh! So toxic.

That company is really really really dumb. Not because of the firing on a wedding day, but you've spent a ton of time recruiting and hiring this person, and then without any feedback, coaching or mentoring you've ended the employment. It is utterly moronic management to spend all that time and money and not even try to salvage. I have hired employees who had slow learning curves so performance was not where it needed to be. Former government worker here (payroll/hr): this actually more common than you think, letting people go during their probationary period for made up reasons. My former employer (state entity) would often layoff staff just before their probationary period (six months) was up, because once the period was up, you had to offer medical/dental benefits. So it was cheaper to lay people off and hire a new batch.

I worked for a company that continually did this. Didn't atter how good you were at your job or how quickly you learned. Even the managers told me how pleased they were etc. What would happen is that the government would subsidise wages for the first t months, so they would get rid of you just before that period ended and start someone new and get the subsidy again. It meant they never had to fork out the full wage for the staff. This could be remedied if the government made it so that the business could only apply once for subsidy for that position in the company.
