To anyone wondering what happened: Apollo Legend lost his battle with mental health and needed help. He chose not to get the help he was actually scheduled to and committed suicide. Apollo was someone I looked up to. He was willing to talk about large profile events and didn’t back down in the face of trouble from people like Billy Mitchell. I’d talked to him occasionally while he was streaming and he was nothing but a kind soul. He deserved so much better than to die before he even hit 30. Apollo, Rest In Peace. We will miss you and I’ll miss the fact I’ll never be able to chat to you again about Zelda and speedrunning. You were a good man. Rest easy, buddy. I hope wherever you are, it’s better there.

@@ytrewqfdsacxz3181 yes, to add a bit more to the story, he was already struggling with mental health stuff and, when getting into some drama with a streamer/gamer named Viper, Apollo quit KZbin citing harassment, bullying, and other drama related stuff... Apollo essentially made a video accusing Viper of not paying one of his editors, and Viper returned with, “I don’t pay them if their work is bad and not up to standards, etc.” Apollo finally gave up, Viper had turned a lot of people against him, and frankly, Apollo’s lack of “engagement” in the situation and accusations made at the start (which ended up being an incomplete story) along with his own shortcomings, caused just this... massive tidal wave of shit from the toxic af speed running community. Apollo said he couldn’t handle it anymore, wrote a suicide letter citing harassment and bullying making his decision easier, and police found Apollo dead in his home after a welfare check. Viper continues to spout he did nothing wrong and refuses to acknowledge that he had influence in someone killing themselves. A lot of people blame him completely, though, which isn’t fair because Apollo already was looking into behavioral health options and to get help for his suicidal ideation... Shits a mess, dude. People just need to be nicer to each other, this world is horrible.

Nearly 3 months later and I just heard the news from a friend. This is terrible, my heart goes out to Apollo and his family. This is one of the main channels that got me interested in speed running. The content was always well made, insightful, and overall a good and entertaining watch. Man... I just stumbled across this young’s mans channel literally tonight and was thoroughly enjoying all of his videos. I started looking at the comments last video and was really confused with all the RIPs, then when I saw them on this video, I was really dreading that what I was thinking was the case, and when I heard that he took his own life, as someone who’s struggled with similar thoughts, my heart physically fucking broke in two... He was the real deal and didn’t add any fluff or BS to his videos. I have a feeling he was a quiet, nerdy guy in real life just like I am. Then I found out that he was not that much older than me (I’m 22).So this really hits hard because I felt like I was connecting to a similar person, and he wasn’t even 30. I really hope his family finds some sort of peace. Suicide is a really fucking cruel thing for both the victim and the survivors..

I'm surprised trolls and detractors still come by this channel. As desensitized as i am to shocking comments, it's pretty fucked to see people be happy about someone's suicide, especially when his controversies are mundane compared to other people who committed much worse controversies and are still alive. I'm not gonna pull the "imagine if X happened to you" card, I'm sure they don't care at this point. It just makes me wonder where these detractors come from and why they have such unsavory comments to share. Like you do know these comments aren't gonna dissappear right? And even if you do delete them, it proves that your presence had no meaning or weight in the first place. So weird honestly. 😕

(Except I’ll give you credit for the “unsubscribed for not posting.” That one I haven’t seen before, although I think the emoji lightens the impact a little) You also spelt hell with a 3 in one of them. Like seriously? Going to make fun of someone who died but don’t have the balls to say the word hell? Do better. You have a brain, use it. Break out a dictionary and a thesaurus if you have to. Use them naughty swear words to give impact. (But the actual spelling. Filtering them makes you like a 10 year old trying out swear words but they don’t want to get in trouble with the internet police. They aren’t real and can’t hurt you.) Hope this helps

Precedent and someone did that and everyone tried to call him a real cheater because he fooled them. Just wouldn't make sense if you did it, recorded all the things you did to get to that point, told us why you did it, and subsequently deleted. Apollo is doing the kind of work that people who maintain a status quo of corruption hate. He would have made an excellent investigative journalist, but just like Michael Hastings he'd probably also be dead by now. Luckily for us he just exposes corruption in our niche little world of videogame records. People with incorruptible integrity, who also have the talent for reporting, are secretly public enemy number one in the information age. I can name quite a few people, who in the past 20 years lost their lives, because they wouldn't back down from exposing the truth about something our plutocracy wants to keep secret.

I just thought about Apollo for the first time in probably a year and a half. I loved his videos and he was one of the first people to introduce me to to speed running, all because the YT algorithm put him in my feed one day. Im still so sad he died despite the mistakes he made. I get that he would have taken a hit to his subscribers and overall fans and probably owed a lot of money from the lawsuits but he still could have made it work if he tried. I totally understand why Apollo was stressed and feeling bleak but this is a situation he could have worked himself out of if he kept going. Please, if you feel like Apollo did right now, that your situation is so bad that you’re thinking about following in his footsteps, please dont. People love and care about you. I would still watch Apollo’s videos to this day if he was still putting out content, but I can’t because he isn’t here. I totally get why he would be in the headspace he was at the time, but he could have carried on. So could you. Talk to someone. Apollo wishes he would have too.

As he said he saw no future where he would be better and that he rather ended it on his own terms. He did the right thing for him and even if it hurts people we must respect his decision, he had his reasons.

This is done in legal circles, political circles, business, etc. When this doesn't happen it is a major flag for corrupt behavior and when investigated some kind of wrong doing is found nearly every time, and i'm just saying nearly because I don't know every literal time but i would be inclined to believe it is every single time. I don't really like to bring up politics on the internet but the current political environment is just too obvious to ignore as a clear example of when you allow people to be in positions of power where they stand to benefit from the outcomes those positions control. No person is a saint so just remove the possible temptation.
