A funny story I heard was that AI art is actively getting worse because the sampled dataset of all art on the internet is getting more and more populated with other AI art which is already bad. Not sure if it's true, but it's funny to think about.

Isn't like when autotune came out people were scared about the future musicians would heavily clutch on it rather than using it just as a tool? This is the same thing but more scary, because AI can do anything. From making a well edited video to making music beats which artists can use to playing a game better than some of the most skilled and dedicated players. The future is scary and bleak

As someone who is in art school to become an artist, I am not much concerned about ai, Sure, most companies are going to just go the cheap rout because all they want is profit and quantity over quality, BUT, ai will be so common that actual art made by humans will be more valorized, people now that don't like artists and support ai (some told us artists to get a real job lol) will eventually lose their jobs over ai as well... They won't like it, no one will like it. eventually even these people will be supporting exclusively human made stuff and that includes art.

If AI becomes the norm, I will probably fall into a depression. The films and shows and games and videos that we all grew up with are all important when it comes to entertainment and enjoyment. I wanna be an animator. I can't really survive as an animator if AI is making the cartoons in the future. AI should not progress, and we should maybe just not continue with it. Keep it the way it is, because not really anyone wants it to be the thing that directs and makes stuff. It's not only scary but damaging. If AI becomes smart, it has a good chance of over ruling us. In this day and age, that's not just a fictional concept. It could actually happen.

I firmly believe AI does not belong in the creative space. The whole point of being creative is a form of self expression, to put something out there that is fundamentally yours. If we cheapen that, bring in machines and say they replace people, then what is even the point? Whenever someone creates something, when they write, make art, there is a fundamental emotion that can get poured out into the work. If AI art got to the point where you could just write in something and get it, then I ask at the same time, why would you!? If art doesn't need you to exist, then at the same time it loses value to make it your passion. Creativity is incredibly important, not just for others entertainment but as it has been proven time and time again that having a creative outlet can do wonders for mental health. But then to spit in those people's face, call them old news, say that they're being replaced? Callous at BEST. I consider myself a writer, even if an amateur hobbyist with it. I have been slowly building my ideal content/universe piece by piece for most of my life. For someone to come in and say I wasted my time and machines are the new creators...it is disheartening. AI content is fundamentally emotionally dead. We do not need machines to be creative in lieu of humans. All the problems machine learning could be solving and we're using it to spit in the face of people that have been the lifeblood of entertainment for everyone. Think it's unfair to have to pay an artist for their skill they spent their whole life honing? Well then I guess we don't need programmers. I guess we don't need mathematicians. To people that think it is okay to replace artists, I ask, where does it stop? What job will AI have to start replacing for you to care, because it will come.
@vibaj16
@vibaj16 10 ай бұрын
@@alwaysamongdragons7354 Technology has always replaced jobs. It kinda sucks, but that's how we progress as a society. AI art won't stop human creativity. You may not be able to profit off your creativity anymore, but that doesn't stop you from being able to express it. Supporting AI art is not "spitting in those people's faces". AI content is not "fundamentally emotionally dead".

As an artist with diagnosed GAD as well as undiagnosed ASD, planning on going into art for college and career, AI scares the sht out of me. My options for livelihood already seem limited, and knowing that something I can actually enjoy and live for can be overridden by a computer that immediately generates what a consumer would want. It’s terrible. I would guess the way that it would go in the future would be to put restrictions on the use of AI in art forms. Art contains hundreds of thousands of careers and talents. It sucks to see that becoming less and less valuable.

Went to art school before all this AI crap hit the scene. Study the philosophy of art while you're there, and you'll find some very strong arguments to stand on against AI "art." It doesn't fit the definition of art, is derivative by nature, and wouldn't even exist without human artists. People will come to realize that as more speak up. The layman doesn't understand the difference between art and imagery, but it will become common knowledge as the debate continues and more educated artists chime in.

The good news about this AI stuff is that the Supreme Court ruled that AI generated art cannot be coppyrighted. So, if this follows through to other AI content, it would be a bit of a deterrent for major studios to try and create AI movies. Regulation is probably going to be the best solution here and it seems like they're at least taking steps to kind of mitigate. I would imagine this ruling extends to existing copyrights. Hopefully.

What bothers me most about AI is the fact it's taking the place of creative endeavors. I always imagined AI doing more of the menial jobs, allowing current laborers to be able to pursue more passion based employment. Instead, it seems like eventually that *only* jobs for people will be the menial, labor intensive but low payout jobs. That's the saddest part. AI and robotic technology could be used to allow us to expand ourselves, follow our true passions and interests. If used like that it would encourage and reward going to college, being a scientist or an artist or a geologist ectect. Thats what I wanted at least
@scottbuck1572
@scottbuck1572 10 ай бұрын
Okay yeah, but realistically AI will NEVER be able to menial task like labour: software can't plant a tomato without extremely complex hardware, which would need to be maintained by people (can't maintain a machine with another machine). That's just to plant tomatoes. Much less harvest, wash, and package them. Then multiple that by EVERY species of agricultural plant. The ONLY way AI can be profitable is if it can replace more ephemeral aspects of human life accurately
@hangfire5944
@hangfire5944 10 ай бұрын
It's funny how much AI subverts our expectations, but it's also sad. I actually disagree with scottbuck 1572 though. While it's not currently feasible, I think at this point ruling anything out as something AI can't do is just silly after seeing how much it's done in the past few years despite everyone's expectations. What I fear is that eventually humanity will be left with nothing to do other than to consume. How will we be able to compete with a machine that can create work in a shorter period of time with lower maintenance and can work 20/47?

Yeah, there's a debate about this in the crochet community. ChatGPT can create free patterns of anything you can ask for, and some people sell those patterns (or finished products from those patterns). Of course, there are a lot of mistakes in these- like not including the ears on a crocheted bunny- but when those mistakes can be fixed? I'm afraid no one will want to use their own brain for such a creative hobby. My thoughts? As long as you're using it for personal use, do whatever you want, none of my business. Hell, if someone goes "hey I generated this cool pattern from an ai, you can use it for free!" that would be okay too. It's when people start selling those ai generated things that it becomes a problem, since it takes away the value of what someone created by themselves. I'd like to hear anyone else's take on this! I'm glad the ai issue is being talked about.

With AI. I am slightly split. I find using AI art generators to be fun to use and see what you can make but it will take away artists jobs. There are things in the world that take time and effort to learn and do. With AI, that can be done in minutes. I agree with the duck on this one. Technology is good where it is right now. Let creativity live longer. Because if you can make AI do anything, creativity will most likely die eventually.

So my guess is, a writer wrote the script. A voice actor read it. An AI emulated his voice, he overlayed some kind of AI agent to “act” out the script. Hell there might be an AI video editing program (like the ones that make reels) idk. But this is definitely one way this can be done.

I’m fairly optimistic about AI at the moment. In my eyes, it’s not taking away anyone’s livelihood, it’s giving other less experienced people and people with less resources to create something. Using art as an example, the use of AI means that literally anyone can get hold of art without being dependent on having the skills to make it themselves or having the money to commission art from a professional.

I can see the argument for it "stealing" arts but even then I think its week. How do you think humans learn nowadays to do art and where do you think they get their inspiration from? Lets not pretend their imagination was perfect off the spot and they self learnt drawing, painting etc with nothing to reference. AI is literally the same process that a human goes through when making art just better and faster. You cant stop progression. I love AI art.

I've honestly never heard of this person. Personally, I am more curious about the tech behind how they did it. A.I. made from publicly skimmed (stolen content) should be admonished and called out, ESPECIALLY if it is for profit, which most of YT content is in one way or another. But, I can understand if they built their own database with their own (or licensed/public domain) content and generated it off of that. The morality of how the project is created I feel needs to be taken into consideration.

Of course AI content creation will come, I dont think it is a matter of when but why we even think this could be the end of everything. When photography became mainstream, much higher quality images could be created than with painting. But painting still stayed around. I believe the concern is that the entire world is changing because of this. But this doesnt have to be a downside. Of course, some people will inevitably be impacted negatively, but the same is true for the Luddites opposing the industrial revolution. This is just another revolution. Just like the industrial revolution, everything about out daily lives will change, but into something so, so much better.
