Honestly kind of weird to me that they consistently went with C/D tier for all the slim versions. They mostly agreed that they all had improvements over the original for a cheaper price, and yet ranked them all much lower than the originals.

Yeah, I feel like this list is pretty subjective. They didn't clearly define what parameters that factor into this ranking. If it's the revolutionary aspect of the console and the excitement it brings to people, sure the list quite makes sense. But when you consider the functional aspect of them, most of those slim versions functions just as well as the original version, but with a cheaper price and smaller form factor. Even some of the original version's shortcomings were fixed. For me, I'd put most of them right alongside the originals. Sure it brings nothing new onto the table. But with a cheaper price and smaller size, it's a great option for a lot of people that were deterred by the pricing of the original console, potentially expanding the community and extending the lifespan of the ecosystem. I'd say that compensate a lot for the "boring" aspect.

Yes, they are superficial.... astethics over function. The nicest consoles got bad rating (original PS3 with PS1/2 support!), meanwhile the trash of PS4 (because of PS Plus needed for online, missing PS1-3 support) are rated very high. The PS4 was even a downgrade in a very special case... BluRay player... the PS3 did a much better job. I tried to replace my aged PS3 with a cheap, used PS4, ending up with problems. Including that the PS4 dont support the Multimedia Remote from PS3 anymore, louder fannoise compared to the PS3 and missing some Audio Formats impossible to bypass as bitstream to my AVR. The PS4 was even unable to play 24p formats correct, very often ending up with a black screen, but with sound and usable Bluray interfaces, still dont know what the PS4 is doing different compared to my PS3. While the PS3 did always a great job.

You forgot the most important part about the OG PS3 its backwards comp with just about all PS2 and PS1 disks and that is also the biggest reason the slim models should of been lower ranked they got ride of that compatibility

forget it they are totally unrealistic or have no clue about Playstation History.... Ranking the PS4 so high is also wrong... only think about the fact that you need PS Plus for Online gaming, that was a real mess and the only reason i boycotted the PS4. Console Games cost already more than PC games. I was from original PS1 to PS3 mainly a "console gamer" and only played shooters on PC, but with PS4.... i stopped being a console player and was getting 100% PC Masterrace, including also pirating. Damn you cant imagine how much i enjoyed this.... SO MUCH GAMES FOR FREE, meanwhile PS4 users had to pay for their games AND extra for online playing. There were even some titles i could play online, totally for free with keygens (after i had some issues with people "stealing" my keys with keygens :/, fight fire with fire....)

The big upgrade from ps4 to ps4 slim that they glossed over was the fan noise. The ps4 slim is so quiet in comparison to the original model. Noise is such a big factor for me that I even downgraded my ps4 pro to a slim just because of the damn fan noise

Fan noise only became on issue for my friends with their OG PS4s (and Pros/Slims) when the thermal paste dried out, and/or when the console got dusty. I just swapped the paste for my friends, and even now, their launch 2013 PS4s are silent when playing Spider-Man.

Imagine spending full price at launch for an original PS3 Fat and you use it for 2 days before the fan fails and the broadband engine bricks itself due to heat and the disc drive fails with it. The store you purchased it from refuses to take it back for a refund, and to have Sony warranty the thing you have to pay almost $200 just to get a box sent to your house and to ship the system back to them to have it lost in shipping to never be seen again never got a replacement or any kind of compensation from the shipping company. I ended up getting a Wii that lasted until 2015 and still works to this day. Got an Xbox one S limited edition in 2016 and haven't had any problems with it until a few months ago when the hard drive started showing signs of failure. Also the U.S. Air Force made a super computer out of PS3 Fats but I cant say I'm a fanboy of any one system or manufacturer I like them all.

While launch PS3s are bad, they don't fail that easily. The model you got was probably faulty. My mate owns a launch fat cecha01 and it lasted for 14 and a half years. Really depends on how much you used it, how you stored it and what room temp it was in. But yes, all launch PS3s are ticking timebombs because of the RSX Graphics Processing Unit. I don't understand why Austin put the PS3 in C tier, it had everything that the PS1 and PS2 had, and with a recap and Frankenstein mod, it's the ultimate PS3 imo.

Fat PS2 is s tier. Always. Simple to clean, simple to replace parts. Never overheated. Still have my original PS2 from 21 YEARS AGO, still fully functioning, and I've installed a 500gb hard drive and freemcboot to play my games natively with no disc.

I think if the PS VIta had gone the route that Nintendo did and used standard storage devices, that alone would have probably saved it...also they could have just done away with the cellular model to start with...the Vita was $250 for the Wifi model, which was already kind of expensive. The games were more expensive than the DS games, but also they were much closer to a console quality experience than the DS...but what killed the Vita was those insane memory card prices. Using standard memory cards would have helped a lot.

I’ve always loved the slim consoles and have only owned the slim versions of every console I’ve bought. I went from the PS2 Slim to the Xbox 360 slim to the PS4 Slim and now the PS5 Slim. It’s been great as the slim consoles bring with them a very refined experience coupled with the fact that they come out a few years after the base console which means by the time you buy a slim console you’ll almost certainly have a large library of games to play on it.

Dropped my PSP onto a brick floor and the screen stopped working. Then the electronic repair shop I sent it to took my money to repair it then it mysteriously went "missing" when I went to pick it up. They wouldn't give me the cost of the system or even refund me the money I gave them to fix it saying they had a sign that said not responsible for lost or stolen goods despite that sign being in the back of the shop where customers never went. I even went to the police and tried to file charges for theft but they refused. So I got screwed out of a PSP. PS2 is definitely S tier, step up is an understatement, it played DVD's, CD's and was also backwards compatible with PS1 games

I don't totally agree with your list... My personal preferences are below (I don't think I forgot any...) S - PSOne, PlayStation 2 (Launch) A - PlayStation (Launch), PS2 Slim, PSP (2000 & 3000 Series), PlayStation 3 Slim, PlayStation 4 Pro B - PSP (1000 Series; Launch), PlayStation 4 (Launch & Slim), PlayStation 3 (Launch), PSVita (2000 Series) C - PSVita (1000 Series), PlayStation 3 (Super Slim), PSP Go D - PlayStation TV F - [Personally, I don't think there's any PS Console or Revision that I would consider so bad I'd rank it in F territory...]

I have a PS4 Pro but not even I would say it deserves A tier, it’s C tier at best. It was severely underpowered as a mid cycle upgrade and was crapped on heavily by the One X which practically tripled the Ones’ performance in comparison to the just about doubling of the PS4s’ power. Plus Nintendo had already been doing the power upgrade for years with the DS and 3DS.
