I'm a chef, and once a cast iron pan is properly seasoned it is fine to wash with soap, not sure about the dishwasher part, but as long as it's dry after washing it's fine

I love my cast iron skillet too much to dish washer it, I use the little section of Chain mail they make for scrubbing, and that cleans it in like 5 minutes. But, hats off to Mat for saying screw you social norms.
