Hey Antwon! Big fan and first time commenter here. I'm not sure anyone har answered this yet but having worked with outdoor jacket design and actually know what that bottom button is for. Well, on outdoor gear at least. It's used for ventilation in rain, snow and/or wind. It sounds weird but you zip up your jacket, button the button and the open the the zip from the bottom as much as you need. This keeps the jacket fitted to the body but you get a large central ventilation point. This is great in high output activity where pit zips simply are not good enough. Don't know if this is applicable to this jacket but it's the reason for that button on most if not all hiking and skiing jackets with a double zip. Love the channel!

I like military style clothes and have been struggling to find techwear jackets I like that aren't incredibly subdued and greyman. this is exactly what ive been looking for
@SuedeNWings Жыл бұрын
my idea for the button on the bottom is to use the button in the middle but like it's windy so you do the button on the bottom to keep the jacket from flapping around without needing to zip it up all the way. kind of like securing the jacket while allowing yourself the breathability still.

12:50 isn't it for when you sit down? That's also why I love two-way zippers.. you can pull the lower one up a little to be less restricted when sitting down. Second advantage, when you wear a small sling bag underneath it gives you extra room..

This thing is a god damned work of art & a masterpiece at that. Both in the design aesthetic & the functionality. Way outta my budget but if I had fuck you money I wouldn't think twice about snapping this up. Nike, Adidas, and other sportswear brands really need to take note here & catch up. If one of them introduced something this bad ass looking with even just half the features in the $250-$300 price range I'd snap it up.

My winter jacket is broken. But only the zip. This has just inspired me to sow a special cool zip in. Expensive jackets are faaaar out of my price range. But I can sow. So im here to find cool features i can add to my projects.

I cannot wear ARCRONYM clothing because I ride an electric unicycle and need lvl 2 armor in the shoulders, elbows, back, knees, and hips. With all of the amazing features their products have, NONE of them provide armour slits/pockets in the jackets or pants at all. I would think there would be a line of high performance wear for people in my position. Antwan, if you ever see this, please ask to have them think about this concept. You have more of an "in" than I do and this would open up their market significantly. I would love to wear the J-16, but if I wipe out going 40mph with it on, it won't matter how many features it has, my body will be wrecked and so will the jacket. There's no Kevlar or places to slide in armour in anything they make for it to be worn by everyone who doesn't use an automobile for transportation. Seems like a no-brainer to me, but only because I have that use case. With how expensive ARCRONYM's clothing is, I cannot ever justify the ROI cost to value ratio.

I feel sizing up on this one doesn't make sense - the stretchy parts would allow enough freedom of movement if you got your true size. The jacket looks too big and unflattering when sized up.

Really thoughtful review ! You mentioned this jacket and colorway as a good entry in the Acronym brand and I totaly get where you come from. I would love for you to address if and how the item you are reviewing could be added in to a more casual/mainstream/streetwear look. For example the J16-GT might look easy to add in a weekly rotation, but I'm not sure how I could mix it with my current daily pants and sneakers. PS : Cheers from France, that Baguette pouch looks promising. Would a bottle of wine fit on the other side ? :)
@ThisIsAntwon2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Good point for sure, something like this suits more obviously technical-looking clothes better than ultra-minimal stuff purely because of how complex it looks, but I still think it works as a statement item. You'd get a bottle of wine in there easily, perfect for date night!

I ended up cutting quite a lot of out this video (originally it was 27 minutes which was just ridiculous) but the bag/spec sheet discussion was one of those parts. It's something I'm keen to talk about in a future video, but I'd totally understand anyone not familiar with the brand and spending such a large amount to be disappointed if they're expecting a luxury unboxing experience that you'd likely find with other high-end brands

As someone who isn't into fashion but is into technical outdoor gear this jacket confuses me. Using goretex pro but then having stretch panels that reduce the waterproofing, as well as a hood that snaps on and so has gaps around the base just confuses me. Could use standard goretex and be 1/3 the price, feel the same and function the same.
