Күн бұрын

This week at Ashville our construction jobs are progressing nicely as ‪@KonFilms‬ is back for another ‪@Sidemen‬ Room Build x Setup collab, there are multiple trains in and the former Skip that is now Boat is prepared for another voyage!
Also, Daniel tries on a 'Rocket Man' jet pack just before ranting about firing a driver and he goes to watch the KSI Fight... or as Michael O'Donovan would say... the MFI Fight!

Daniel, as an ex manager myself, don't ever feel bad about having a dog shit member of staff on your books. Some people are masters at sounding amazing in interviews then being completely useless and lazy in practice. I would give them a bit of harsh treatment personally. Set out clear time expectations for them, and go through the disciplinary procedure for lateness/damage/ect. What I find is that person knows full well what they are, they'll go home and laugh about how little work they've done today. Once they realise you're pissed off with them and that you're trying to get rid of them, they'll often see the writing on the wall and take it upon themselves to resign. People like that enjoy coming to work, doing fuck all, and getting away with it, but if you take away the last part, they'll soon hate coming to work and they'll leave.

We have a bloke at ours who's first job will be around 0730 but chooses to come in 0615 when the job is 10 minutes up the road. Contractual finish time is 1700 but he's normally done for 1630 yet still tries 1700 on the time sheet. He's the least willing to go the extra mile and will go slow when it benefits him. If you have these types lambast them and give no quarter because the willing honest bods will appreciate it!

Daniel watching this i remember my frustration 6-10 years ago running construction company with 70 builders or bespoke joinery shop with 14 joiners. Exactly the same nerves/frustration as you just had. Luckily learned the hard way and now Im a pond of peace and no stress almost in my life. As for wankers who rip you off golden rule sack them straightaway. They will rot the rest of the team, those who work best will feel that they have to put extra weight to keep the engine running. Sometimes like in my case the best solution is to completely change the business - even if I thought its not possible and I always will be contractor or joiner. All the best and try to mitigate slackers and build a shield around you to not affect your health with the business problems. Business is to bring you happiness and enjoyment not stress, lack of sleep and lack of free time. Cheers

I was a cleaner on a huge site an you would not believe the stuff I had to put up with they would see you coming and pour coffee all over the table, throw rubbish on the floor piss an shit over the toilet, block the toilet it goes on. Guys have some respect for the cleaners they might be at the bottom of the chain but it's the most important part of the chain.

Daniel you're doing a great job and I must say that you do a great job of keeping the equipment clean, I've worked at constructions sites and the equipment is hardly ever cleaned, new equipment a few months or weeks old will look 20 years old, until it's finally cleaned and it looks brand new. Workers need to think about the collective to ensure operations in the yard run smoothly.

Daniel - I completely agree 100% with your comments about responsibilities on the Friday section of your video. Brilliant video again. Thanks for showing us what you go through. It’s so disappointing when employees let you down. I’m a firm believer in having disciplinary procedures in place, and that doesn’t mean to give them a kick, it means to get people working correctly and to take pride in what they do. If someone has an aptitude issue, I will work with them 24 hours a day. If they have an attitude problem, I move them on, and quickly. Have a great week all at Ashville.

Enjoying the vids :) Just wondering if you've heard of polyurethanes for wear reduction? When the bucket of the shovel is wearing down to the point it will almost need replacing you could consider having a polyurethane coating of a few millimeters put in it. Still got to keep the cutting edge as a wear part, but the bucket itself will last a lot longer. Also works for funnels, hoppers, tippers and so on! :)
