Following Hurricane Laura in 2020, my local community was without running water for 8 days and electricity for 27 days. The 8 days without running water was the most difficult by far. Even then, we had very easy access to clean drinking water. Hell, I even took a shower in the rain underneath my busted gutter. It is so easy to take clean water for granted when that’s all you’ve ever known. The poorest and most destitute citizens of the United States cannot even fathom the life of difficulty that millions of people around the world experience. Ironically, because it’s all they’ve ever known, they probably don’t even realize just how bad they have it compared to most of civilization. Great episode as always.

I think about how grateful I am to have access to clean water in my home almost every time I turned on a faucet. Excellent episode!

I like this guys playbook. Become a club promoter. Go numb on cocaine. Start a charity. Make the club pay for the charity. Pure genius.

Really like this new podcast series Andy is creating. It is a shorter form conversation and very impactful. This is such an important conversation, and appreciate both of these men sitting down.

Thanks for a remarkable show! Really worthwhile (except for a really gross ad visual on unpaid KZbin)!

Yes, a lot of work has been done … but they aren’t done yet. Not great for an issue that blew up in 2015 (and of course was doing damage for years prior).

"Basic Human Right": The concept of a "human right" exists with reference to politics and society. On the other hand, whether one is born near a potable water source is more a circumstance of nature. There are, unfortunately, sometimes political and economic realities that human beings must navigate PRIOR TO having access to clean water. Doesn't mean they are being denied a right. In other words "I am my brother's keeper" is necessarily a biblical concept, NOT necessarily an economic or political one. Resource scarcity must successfully be dealt with, and the question becomes whose economic responsibility it is to do so, in all justice.

Sure seems like water is a commodity. It used to be free to pump out if the ground.
