Let me just clear up a bit of misinformation here about 3d printed guns. Most of the glock style pistols were designed by the 3d2A community to be printed on the cheapest most commonly made 3d printer (Creality ender 3 ($200)), with the cheapest most commonly available material (PLA (preferably PLA+)) and the files are free and widely available on the web as well as the block chain where they can easily be found and cannot be deleted. This was done immediately as the technology came out so that our rights would be “ironclad”, as they say, in the face of tyranny.

Let us not forget that PLA isn't really good at containing the energies that a firearm produces. Personally, I'm looking for a filament that will produce a durable, accurate gun. It's happening. May not be today, but tomorrow is almost here. Not to mention the fact that actually 3D printers are improving by leaps and bounds. No matter what the forces of tyranny desire, it is impossible to ban our way to safety. So, we'd better work on the people problems. The hardware is with us not matter what we do.

Of course not, because 2A has nothing to do with criminal acts committed by human beings. The government's "solutions" are centered around restrictions, so they rely on high profile incidents to try and sway citizens to voluntarily give up their rights, while knowing full well that it won't make them safer. How often are 3D printed weapons used in crimes? Extremely rare, but with a well funded media they would make you believe that it happens everyday in every state.

This little dance that happens when a murder that “the media” deems important enough to report on is simply ridiculous. Nothing politicians propose as future laws would affect the actual event, and criminals always find a way to commit their horrific acts. The focus is always on the tool and not everything that lead up to the act which is the real issue. How many other individuals were murdered in the same time period as this event that don’t get any exposure, and how many didn’t even involve a firearm much less a 3D printed one? It’s all manufactured hype designed to upset citizens and mobilize politicians to write more laws to infringe on the majority who don’t break the law.
@colemorgan856718 күн бұрын
Put the NFA and the GCA against the Bruen test and both will fail. If these “ghost guns” were as ubiquitous as legislators make it sound, gangs and criminal organizations would be pumping them out en masse. Mind you an upper receiver or a barrel and a slide are all unregulated items and can be shipped to your door. As Mike pointed out, 3D printing isn’t as simple as plugging in a machine. The digital footprint one would leave is large and furthermore the programs needed on a computer to run aren’t free, the quality plastics needed aren’t necessarily cheap. The ghost gun argument is DOA. Always has been.

No, what would make sense and absolutely could be done, is requiring barrels to be serialized and require a FFL transfer. Many guns are manufactured with serialized barrels. Its entirely possible they are talking about shell casings because they don't have the bullets (he used FMJ), or worst case is they do have the bullets but they dont match because the barrel has been changed. As a home manufactured 'ghost' gun, from aftermarket parts, theres no way to tell if the barrel has ever been changed or how many times. LE and Legislators are right to be concerned about being able to commit untraceable murders with a legally possessed weapon.
@michaelalcocer677818 күн бұрын
@springbloom5940 You can change the barrel on a store bought firearm also. I can just melt the firearm down after use. I can make a metal pistol barrel in my garage with common available tools. It has no bearing whatsoever on the function of the weapon. If you believe that thing on the table would be harmless. You have two choices a you can be that good citizen and you can keep it and do no harm or be. You can be that person that does harm so sick of paying the price of others actions. The right to “keep and bear arms” implies the right to manufacture arms. Anyone who is willing to murder is not going to be concerned with some numbers on their choice of weapon. Tracing a firearm implies a registry which is illegal.

Hey guys. I do enjoy your videos when you two are on together. As a firearms examiner at a local crime lab I wanted to point out some things that you may have missed in your research for this episode. 3D printing of firearms (frames and receivers) is a task that can be done on a cheap ($200) printer off Amazon with free CAD files found on many websites online. I haven’t seen many 3D printed firearms in my Midwestern lab, but I am aware they are more prevalent in areas with stricter firearms purchasing laws. The 3D printed components cost only a few dollars in filament then a cheap parts kit completes the build for a few hundred dollars at most. Then these firearms can be sold for at least twice as much on the underground market. So it is actually profitable for the criminals who do it. The 3D printers that cost $10,000 or more would likely be the ones 3D printing in metal (not plastic). Companies have started marketing several metal 3D printed products (see PTR Industries suppressors for an example). While companies can have tooling to mass produce plastic components (see the new Ruger/Magpul collaboration), the injection molded plastic parts are not too dissimilar to the plastic components that can be produced on 3D printers at home. Only big difference is how fast the part can be manufactured.

Plus the cost of all of the additional components needed. I haven't seen any indication that anything other than the frame was 3D printed. There is still the slide, barrel, and numerous other components that needed to be acquired and assembled to create a functional firearm (which may or may not be fully functional). The media tends to paint a picture that all one needs is a 3D printer and a program for the printer, them presto - someone has a fully functional firearm. That isn't the case.

Call about instead of going after guns go after the people committing crimes against people in New York go spend money on that your state is in disarray. I’m sure you people have better things to do with your time and effort then to go after weapons that may not have a serial number on it.

There are absolutely 3D printers that are “worth a shit” that can be had for less than 1000$ and take a look at the social media post from Chicago and you’ll see a ton of 3D printed lowers an 80% lowers for glocks and ar pistols lol I don’t think either should be banned but you have to be honest and or do the research on it they absolutely are being used an made quite a lot actually again I don’t think they should be banned but it’s not something that’s rare to see being used in the wild

Hey Mr., if a 18-year old boy would look at a gun picture for getting involved in the scene, would you fight him like a real experienced fighter with 100 percent serious? Yeah? What scene are you in? In the civil war secene. You talk the same - a ghost gun is cooler, how about the function?

this is already illegal in NYC and NY in general... this is a stupid law request... also can we relax on tin foil hats?

Hold on! Was that jackasses pistol a 3D printed gun without needed metal rail inserts and ejector or an 80% lower, which he or someone else completed? Mixing up the terminology just muddies the water.

Disagree, I don’t find him a liberal. Vocalizing descent or raising questions doesn’t say he agrees one way or the other. Means he is open to ideas and dialogue…

It looks like two different people in the wanted pictures it looks like someone took a razor and shaved between his eyebrows then in his mug shot he has a unibrow so you're telling me that's the same person?

l😂 glocks don’t withstand pressure thats why they’re getting sued for lacking chamber support to an unreasonable degree! How can aftermarket barrels voth have dramatically better chamber support then a glock barrel and also be just as reliable! Glock is dogsht!

It’s so funny you guys want to speak about ghost guns. I will DOX every SF BRO that PRINTS ghost guns, switches, silencers, the list goes on. You guys really want to act like you don’t know these people ? Not only names but the non profit where I met them to receive therapy for TBI. I found it hilarious when the SF A team is all about help but has a shop in outside Waco, Texas with a 3D printer and CNC MACHINES!
