This. I repeat the following story in a lot of these true crime threads so I apologize. Went back to school in my 30s since I couldn’t work, went for criminal justice as a joke (let’s say I have a checkered past yet it has ironically projected me ahead of peers). First day I’m in criminal law, professor walks in, at the time he was police chief of area municipality as well as lawyer. Without a word, he goes to white board and writes “SHUT THE FUCK UP” upon introducing himself he tells us if we learn nothinng else in school, it’s to shut the fuck up and NEVER talk to police, especially if innocent. Seriously one of the greatest men I’ve met.

Sadly for some people, it's easier said than done. I've been trying to move out for almost a year just to have my friends tell me my mom is emotionally abusing me and manipulating me to stay and help her out and take care of my baby sister. I'm 22 🥺 and slowly coming out of denial.

This entire case is just so sad and senseless. Jennifer should have just left. If her father had someone follow her , she could have called the police. She seems very psychologically disturbed so maybe couldn’t do it or didn’t think she could. I’m glad she’s in jail so she can’t hurt anyone else. Great work as always.
@HelenaVanCity3 жыл бұрын
It is always easier to say what somebody else should have done than get your own shit together, eh?
@Matt-cr4vv10 ай бұрын
It’s also a major cultural difference in Asian families that factors into why a seemingly simple choice to just leave becomes complicated. Asian children are raised in a culture that indoctrinates them that there is a moral duty to obey, honor and financially care for your parents. Americans see it as simple to just leave but ignore how much more complicated that decision becomes when you’ve been raised from birth that it’s a moral duty to always be subservient and have never known another way. With American kids who are raised to grow to independence it’s a lot easier to walk away from emotionally abusive parents than in an entirely opposite culture like many Asian cultures and even then it’s extremely difficult to leave parents behind completely even if they’re abusive even when there isn’t the stress to honor your parents taught from birth. The choice she made is wild to decide is the better option than simply leaving but it’s also reflective on how fucked up ones emotional reasoning can become in such a repressive relationship structure as seen with Jennifer and her parents. When raised and taught how to interact with her parents the way she was her entire life it makes some level of sense to not be able to rationally think this stuff out. You only see and consider options when you’re taught they exist but if you’re indoctrinated for your entire life that leaving your parents or not being subservient to them it’s genuinely a much more complicated fork in the road because see many of those raised in these cultures don’t even consider the option that they’re adults and have the freedom to simply leave abuse behind. It multiples when the person already has self worth and psychological issues to begin with.

I said it on the last video and I'm going to say here, I have a small bit of sympathy for this girl. Abuse, whether physical, emotional, sexual, or psychological causes irreparable damage to the person on the receiving end. It doesn't excuse this girl or anyone else who hurts or kills others. It does give a partial explanation though. I guess as I get older and have spent 7 years with good counselors I begin to have empathy for someone who is so deeply screwed up they won't leave a home where they are grounded as an adult. You have to be screwed up to see murder as the way out.
@allendean98073 жыл бұрын
Or desperate. Condoning her actions is never ok, but she was clearly abused. Clearly emotionally damaged. That damage caused her to create a web of lies, albeit a weak web. And that’s the key here. Her lies were designed, subconsciously, to fail. And this is a hallmark of this kind of abuse. The whole time, you don’t feel even worthy to have happiness, so you engineer self destruction into you desire for happiness.
@megajokezz3 жыл бұрын
I was also abused as a child (physically, mentally, emotionally). my parents did not show any love to me or my siblings. we basically raised each other. I was also sexually abused. I couldn't go out or have friends. I don't have a relationship with my parents now but I took charge of my life, went to university and going to dental school while trying to forget the past and enjoy life. I don't know how people can do things like this no matter how abused they were. abuse is not an excuse and I don't feel any empathy
@galacticunicorn63193 жыл бұрын
@@megajokezz I was also abused as a child by a much older relative and I agree with you that trauma is no excuse for these kinds of actions. You can’t just go around killing/hurting people that have hurt you. If she could have a whole ass relationship behind her parents back, she could have gotten some resources to help her with her mental health behind her parents back too. Victims have to self advocate for their own healing and it sucks but that’s the way it is. My abuser has been dead for some time now, he drank himself to death. I wasn’t sad that it happened and I was glad he couldn’t hurt anyone else but it didn’t make me feel better as far as my own healing.

How can you have sympathy?? She's a straight psychopath, she literally shows no sympathy for the murder of her mother and attempted murder of her father. She even referred to the shooters as gentlemen. This was cold blooded murder and mostly motivated by the fact she didn't want her boyfriend to leave her.
@allendean98073 жыл бұрын
@@victorgarcia-xy4oj there’s nothing wrong with having a human emotion, like sympathy. Is she paying for her crimes? Yes. Is her father? Yes.
