Ahhhhhh the memories your video has revived! My husband and kids fished for salmon many times through rain, rain and chill. The "baby" at 9 yrs old to the 13 yr old felt the unmistakable "FISH ON" while attempting to keep their rod up and reeling at the same time. Definitely a learning curve for us all - at first. The water was glacier cold, it was raining and a few lips were alittle blue, but we caught the legal limit that trip. The best, the very best was preparing fresh salmon, stuffed with slices of lemon, alittle thyme, butter and wrapped up in foil over coals of a wood fire. Yuuuummy. Later we marinated and slow smoked more salmon, so good on crackers! Being in the wild experiencing the fresh, woodsy air, the soft but distinctive sound of eagle wings flying directly overhead and being on alert for the bears nothing will ever compare! The kids remember even now, the "baby" is now 47 and tells his 11 yr old about his first salmon. One day they'll head north to repeat it all over again.

As always, the majesty of what is Alaska never fails. So pleasant to watch you and your family fishing and packing the catch, but mostly enjoying each other. Very interesting to see another way of fishing that the majority of us will never be able to try; so glad that tradition has been respected and is allowed for those that have lived it their whole lives. ...and those nets, Salmon Dundee would say, "That's a net!" Thanks for taking us along 👊

My wife was diagnosed with Stage 2 “Triple Negative” Breast Cancer 5 weeks ago. She’s had 2 of her 16 rounds of chemo so far, which will be followed by a Mastectomy and Reconstruction surgery probably some time in March. I have been a subscriber almost from the beginning. I have my wife watching now with me. We watched the Wedding last week, and we loved it. She saw bits and pieces of this one while I was watching it. I am going to watch it again later tonight or tomorrow with her. My sweet wife has a great prognosis. We believe God will heal her. Your simple lifestyle is a breath of fresh air for her. We know it is not easy all of the time, but the lifestyle is simple. The beauty of God’s creation there is amazing. I would love next summer or at least by 2025 (June if that year will be our 25th anniversary) to come and explore “y’all’s neck of woods.” Keep doing what y’all are doing. Thanks for encouraging us by opening up your lives with your viewers. Mark, Nadya, Elijah, Daniel, and Samuel

I stayed with the dog, we have survived the week that’s a lot as I am working full time still and Maggie is in the kennel she’s not a happy dog but she’s safe, take care and God bless

Salmon is fantastic and when caught in Alaska it must be sublime. The different salmons you have in Alaska should be the best in the world, and they are very big, I think. I often buy a salmon and put salt and sugar and perhaps a few other spices on the filets and we love that kind of raw fish. We also cook salmon and smoke them but unfortunately we do not have the same opportunities for dip netting. Thank you for a very, very interesting and peaceful video. All the best to you and your family and have a nice trip.

Ya'll got some awesome looking fish! Really enjoyed the beauty of the area. Tanya has made me want some Fig Newtons and coffee...have to add them to my grocery list! I have a feeling I would get pretty hungry in the winter in Alaska. I don't care for salmon at all. I do like Salmon Cakes..something we in the south make...but not Salmon or any ocean fish. I do love trout and catfish tho! Esp. the pink mountain trout we have here in our creeks. Hope ya'll are doing well, and hope you have a great upcoming trip. We will be here when ya'll get back.
