Choosing a Life Partner

Sex? Money? Passion? Intellectual companionship? Kids? What are factors to consider when choosing a life partner? Should you be practical, or follow your heart? How is this decision different for men versus for women? We offer some ideas.
Here's the dream we analyze:
"I was in my parents’ house. My mother was showing me some renovations she had done in the bathroom. Suddenly, in the mirror, I saw myself behind me charging toward me. I turned around in terror, but there was nobody there. I turned back to the mirror and saw myself again, looking pretty demented, charging toward me. Again I turned around, but there was nobody there."

I think people misunderstand what I find to be the true nature of trust. People foolishly misplace their trust in their partners when they "trust" their partner to act in accordance with their spouse's nature. That's a great way to mismanage one's expectations. One of my earliest philosophies has served me well throughout my life. I simply trust people to be who they are. If someone's flaky, i trust them to be flaky. If someone is impulsive, i trust them to act impulsively. My only expectation of anyone is to act in accordance with their nature. If i don't know their nature then i don't need to place any trust in them, and if my trust is actually betrayed by anyone, I can only blame myself.
