We all have intuitive experiences, from an occasional hunch to powerful gut feelings. Unconscious intelligence is a storehouse of instincts and wisdoms humankind has accumulated over millennia. We would be lost without intuition and give importance to warnings and inspirations that saved or made the day. We are also skeptical of intuition, which tends to become infused with emotion, superstition, and cultural bias. Altogether, intuition is about the future, from promising possibilities to potential pitfalls. To apply inner perception in meaningful ways we need to balance it with conscious considerations around values, objective assessment, and meaningful action. Intuition can then provide a glimpse of a higher level of reality that can anchor us to purpose.
HERE'S THE DREAM WE ANALYZE:
"I walk outside of my front door and notice a storm is brewing in the grey sky. The wind feels like it could pick me up and take me, but I remain steady and fixated on the intensity and beauty of the sunset. I walk several feet and stand on top of a flowerbed I’ve been building.I can somehow see all the way down the valley. I instantly hear a loud humming noise coming toward me and when I look up, I notice a giant swarm of bees - they stop and hover above me. They drop, as a whole, to just above my head and then lift up again. I am aware it is scary, but I don’t feel scared. They do it a second time and I lie down in the dirt, gazing up at them. I’m surprisingly calm. Then when they lift again, suddenly a giant bird (an eagle ??!!) lands just above my head and starts pecking at the ground. The bees drop, almost suffocating me in this space with the eagle violently pecking around my face. I remain frozen and in awe. Then the bees fly away and then the eagle."

This podcast is so useful. I'm INF/INT (51:49%) and my intuitions come from fully orchestrated art or scientific ideas, many of which I cannot carry off because of time constraints. My daughter has the same thing. A continual stream of ideas and inspirations that ALL seem phenomenally good and sacred, yet our life seems 'unsuccessful' due to the constraint that we can only do one thing at a time. I would call it extreme creativity. I would not wish it on anyone, but at the same time, it's all I have so I appreciate it.

OMG....I'm an INFJ and this "falling in love with someone's potential" has gotten me stuck a few times!! But once I realized that I was doing this I was able too use my other functions to stop me. I'm also a practicing psychic medium and have needed to learn how to interpret my insights correctly....but sometimes I experience prophetic info that hasn't been validated for years. I always know my intuition for me is neutral....info with no emotion. However my other psychic abilities count on emotion....especially emotion that comes out of nowhere!

We all project the idealized lover onto new potential mates. I think some of us project what is possible from our potential self not yet capable of achieving. Perhaps it will/can become a reality if we become Individualized. (?)

Falling in love with someone's potential is the same as being with someone for who you want them to be, not for who they are, nd thus resulting in trying to change the individual. These relationships end badly and is actually very dangerous for some women wo "fall in love with the potentialz" of an abusive man. This is absolute rubbish. Horrible and dangerous advice. You guys need to actually study psychology. Typology can only be properly understood by understanding psychology.

Just have to stop everything and say thank you to Joseph for his comment on advising intuitive clients to revalue their investment in romantic partners based on intuited potential🙌💐🥳 I just feel validated by his verbalising this🥰 I see potential EVERYWHERE🤦😂 took me a few decades to realise not every boyfriend or wounded bird is worth my investment😐 its not just intuitiveness, its that whole shadow thing of not realising one is trying to compensate for a perceived lack of support in one's own life😳

Do these intuitive insights come from the same place as our sleep dreams? A form of a Lucid Dream? For me, these flashes always occur at night, either just prior to sleep, or waking up from sleep.

It would make sense that women have a slight advantage when detecting deception because they are the more deceptive gender. As the saying goes "game recognizes game." Just look at any high school group of girls compared to the boys and this becomes very clear. To be fair, it was likely a compensation for all of the other biological advantages men have. However it's also used as a way to "level the playing field" when competing with other women. Reputation assasination is their passive-aggressive way of devaluing other women. On a large scale, you see this with modern feminism and their idea of "sexual liberation" in the form of promiscuity being a value. The less desirable women know that promiscuity disgusts men, so they push it to destoy other women's value in an attempt to give themselves a better opporunity. I have to admit that it's quite clever actually and lots of women have fallen victim to it because it's wrapped in the idea that women are "oppressed" by men, which is simply not true on the level of the group. Some individuals or regimes perhaps, but not men as a monolith, but nuance tends to be a difficult thing with a lot of people.

With regard to the possibility that intuitions can be wrong, it sounds like you all are describing something like illusion. Just as sight and hearing can experience illusions, it’s very possible for the sense that picks up cues from the unconscious to be tricked as well.

Why do we sometimes ignore a strong intuition even though our whole body is telling us to follow it? I have done that on several occasions and some of that has resulted in seriously bad situations.

I sometimes think that psychotherapists are so focused on the _individual_ that they forget about his or her impact on other people. I will give you one particularly egregious example. A friend of mine was contemplating having an affair and told her therapist about this. The psychotherapist advised her to go for it if it would be fulfilling _for her_ . Its example such as this which sometimes make me wonder if psychotherapy is not a narcissism machine. However, that's only in my darker moments. What about _agapē_ , self-sacrifice, commitment to ones vows?
@redruby8529
@redruby8529 3 жыл бұрын
Sure there are some not good therapists out there. But this information is secondhand. Did the therapist really say that? Or did you friend misinterpret something, heard what she wanted to, or told you something that the therapist did not even say? Any ideas around agape are your own personal biases. Psychotherapy is about exploring the shadows, not repressing :)
@bayreuth79
@bayreuth79 3 жыл бұрын
@@redruby8529 What do you mean: any thoughts about agape are my own personal bias? Agape (and it’s cognates in other cultures and religious traditions) is not just a personal opinion; it’s one of the deepest aspects of the psyche and the basis for communities to flourish. Buddhism, Hinduism, Chinese Confucianism, Judaism, Christianity and Islam all speak of the supremacy of “love”. So it’s not reducible simply to personal bias.

@@redruby8529 and this includes: not acting out. Personally, I've never found a good, well trained, experienced therapist. I devised my own method, which included my dreams. (Jungians are not available in my semi rural area) And eventually, one's history gets so complicated, that the time and expense would be too costly, to get current, so work could begin. This channel will hopefully open doors for many.

It is not possible to 'outsource' your moral decisions and actions and still claim autonomy and adulthood🤦 its completely obvious that giving your word (implicitly or explicitly) is something you have to honour in order to be a person of honour. If you cheat, steal, dont do what you said you would: it may be very very human - but its not a way to behave that earns you any respect. YOU CAN DO A LOT BETTER. And its worth aiming a lot higher than being a cheat

That's intriguing about humans being prewired for motherhood. Do Fathers have similar wiring? Life itself is a tricky business. I would think that there is a large difference between fear and anxiety, as far as evaluating intuition. I vote for the element of surprise being the best "on the spot" confirmation of discerning truth of intuition. Thoughts?

DEFINITELY NO wiring for motherhood for me - unless it got short circuited by the experience of being mothered🤦 and the intuition that the motherhood experience would be a very negative one for me. Ive seen the reality: SO GLAD I skipped it👍

Jung defined intuition as gathering information from nonlogical sources, a kind of unconscious mentation available to men and women equally.

@@thisjungianlife This by the way is also the link that is made to AI, as it is unconscious. Though AI uses logical sources. Chess grandmasters often use their intuition. But first they acquired the knowledge and certain heuristical procedures, which after some time become automatic, somewhat like playing a musical instrument.
