Dairy farmers use the same type of system. A methane digester. Heats the manure to use the methane to power a generator you can run the farm or some were selling power back to the electric company. Hope it all works to your favor. Good luck

I work for Cargill and in big wig meetings (C-Suite) they're always talking about how farmers need to be more efficient and lean in order to not go out of business when the average consumer is after the bottom dollar product. Glad to hear you guys are taking that initiative. It's tough out there for everyone, Stay safe!

@The_Foolish_Fool13 күн бұрын
@@johnqcitizen9177 Not really, Cargill is just a distributor. We don't set the prices at the grocery store. We just buy animals, process them according to the grocery store's order and then they jack up the prices for the consumer who wants the lowest prices. We have employees to pay, operations to manage, and contracts to fulfill. We're beholden to the market and the cost of goods and services just as you are.

Kinda simular system we dairyfarmers overhere in the netherlands use, we also separate the water from the manure and use it for different things ,boxbedding in the freestall or ship it out, the thin fraction we use as fertilizer on the fields ,i think you guys are on the whright way ,stay safe you all greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer

I have a question, if I may: We have Dutch ancestry. When I was young, my dad used a wooden folding ruler when he was doing carpentry work. We called it a back own (typed phonetically). I have tried to figure out if back own was actually Dutch using google translate with no success. Any help is appreciated. :)

@misterv4462. The name your are looking for is called a duimstok! Direct translation to english is called a thumbstik, it is still used in construction today. I love them and always use them. Cheers
@misterv446213 күн бұрын
@@wilco692 Thank you for your response. I have one of those, but don't use it a lot. A person has a natural inclination to fold it back up after every measurement. Probably, if I left it unfolded until I was done with it, it would be more enjoyable to use. I imagine there are a lot of handy tricks to using one that I have never learned. Have a great day!! :)

God bless. I would think the cheapest way to deal with this is to do what municipality does. Cement pool to dry thin layers, and when dry bulldoze it out. Although it's painful to see all that gas go to waste. Did you consider producing gas as byproduct, there is a company which makes the apparatus for that.

You're crazy. 😵💫 Is there enough methane in hog manure to be flammable? A sealed digester pit to capture off gasses and run an old V8 engine on a genset. Maybe run a heater or something. There's a dairy in the UK that uses that type of system, powers the whole farm. Nice edit, thanks for sharing. -EZ
@MorganOtt-ne1qj14 күн бұрын
There's methane available, but it's "dirty" methane, and needs a scrubber to be used in a combustion engine to generate electricity. It's not a big deal, but it can't be used straight from the digester. IF all of their facilities were in one place, they could probably generate quite a bit of power with a single digester.
