I feel like dentist offices never focused on flossing when we were kids. It was all about brushing. After experiencing recession in my late 20s, I now brush and floss 30 minutes after each meal. Make sure to make that C-shape Grace was talking about. Don’t be aggressive with your gums (like I used to be because I was so focused on the tooth). Bend the floss around your tooth and gently slide it under the gum line. You have to gently disturb the bacteria so that it won’t grow (if you stir a Petri dish every day, the bacteria won’t grow as fast or as much if you were to just leave it alone). I used to use thick floss (at the recommendation of the hygienist but that stuff never would have fit under my gums anyway) but now I use Glide floss. I also switched to an electric brush-it’s more effective, it tells you when you’re pushing too hard, and it doesn’t let you brush too little or too much. I wish the dentist’s office had cared about teaching correct technique before it was too late. It was always “you’re doing great. Keep it up” right up until I suddenly had problems. So frustrating, especially since I went every 6 months my entire life. Also, going to a periodontist is a revelation. Don’t even bother asking for a referral from your dentist. Just go to the periodontist. Dentists specialize in teeth (cavities, etc) but periodontists specialize in the soft tissue. We go to other specialists like dermatologists, so why not go to gum specialists? Why are we relying so much on dentists?

There's a phone out there called The Light Phone that might be the exact experience you two are looking for! It's just got call & text. You can put your existing SIM card into it or use an entirely unique number. It has the same look of an ereader so it's not backlit. I haven't used it personally but I've always admired the concept! Something you can use to take a break from your smartphone but have the peace of mind that friends/family can still reach you.

Startin' off with dentist talk! I just went yesterday to get a cavity filled and I never want to do that again for the rest of my life. It didn't even hurt, it was just severely unpleasant. Also had to edit to say: I'm about the same ages as these ladies and teeth are no joke. Keep those chompers clean, kids. I'm SO grateful that my mom nagged the shit out of me as a kid to brush. Also also: I just learned the other day that some people don't know that you need to rinse after brushing! It's also important to get rid of the excess toothpaste.

I have a flip phone on Verizon for $35 a month and a Mint Mobile number for my iphone. It's cheaper now to have two phones than it is just to have the iPhone on Verizon. The flip phone is my main number, and I forward calls from the iphone to the flip phone, mostly so I can fuck with scam callers. It's been the best thing for my mental health because my iphone lives in my purse and doesn't come out unless I need mobile tickets, banking, directions, etc. and I use the flip phone for calls and texts. It has voice to text which makes it so much nicer to use than the T9, but it's also a fidget item for me in that it satisfies that desire to press clicky buttons when I text.

I love to get my teeth cleaned. My hygienist uses a high powered water jet called an ultrasonic scaler to knock off any tartar. It works well and feels good as it hits your tooth. My oncologist required that I go to my dentist for a check up before I started chemo because I needed to be free of wounds of any kind. You two ladies always make me smile and laugh out loud. I really needed to smile today because I found out this morning that I have Covid for the second time and I feel like 💩. So thanks for brightening my day, you two are the best and I love you both.❤

Grace & Mamrie you guys should get a Waterpik instead of floss! It makes flossing 1000% easier and you're not having to constantly rebuy floss since it uses water! Get the one that plugs into the wall and not the travel one bc the travel one doesn't do crap for cleaning (according to my dentist not me I know nothing). Ever since I got mine I haven't gone back to normal floss 10/10 would recommend

You can just forward calls to a different number than your regular phone. When I was a kid my mom used to do it when we were on vacation, she forwarded the calls from our home number to her cell. Back then you just dialed a specific code followed by the number you wanted to forward your calls to, now there's a setting in your phone to do it.

My teeth are super close together because I have the tiniest mouth (according to every dentist and orthodontist I've had) and according to my current dentist, genetically more prone to cavities which checks out. I was in the same position that I was in for a deep cleaning. Definitely didn't want any part of that. So my hygienist 3 years ago suggested a waterpik because I have such trouble flossing - the floss literally gets stuck. I started with a waterpik over lockdown and my teeth felt so clean! Even now on the off day when I'm in a rush and have to skip it it feels so weird. So on my first cleaning after starting that I had no cavities! I felt so smug. I go every 4 months because of my teeth being close and my permanent retainers behind my front teeth. Fast forward to earlier this year - I had 2 new cavities and needed 2 fillings repaired because they were 15 years old. I had gotten 1 or 2 cavities since starting the waterpik, but since they were far apart it didn't bother me. But these results were just too much for me having put all this effort in and I told her I waterpik, brush, mouthwash every day. My hygienist asked, "Do you regular floss?" And I said no because you'd think a jet of water between your teeth should get everything. She then told me a waterpik isn't enough, you need to regular floss too. I didn't say it out loud but I already spend about 10 minutes with the waterpik, actual brushing, then mouthwash. I get up early enough in the morning as it is, and I'm not getting up earlier to struggle with regular floss. If I have energy at night, then maybe. I've made peace that I'm doing what I can and cavities are just part of my life. But I'm glad I avoided the deep clean. Long story but I just related so hard to your dentist experiences. (Also I use the flossers too - kids flossers, no less, so I don't have to jam them between my teeth) On a different note, I'm a teacher and when I was teaching Transitional Kindergarten, I discovered they've made a whole series based on the old lady who swallowed a fly. They're mostly themed around holidays. I hesitantly looked at one at the library because I assumed every few pages would say, "I guess she'll die." Turns out they removed that part 😂. I got a few my for classroom and the kids loved them.

The smell of urine usually comes from the molecule Urea. Urea is for example a component of Polyurethane (PU), or Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU). These plastics are used in certain glues and linings of backpacks. They don't smell of urine until they get wet. Maybe inform the manufacturer of the food packet and ask them to investigate their packaging.

YES! I watched Joe Schmo. And was actually rewatching it recently. Surprisingly few people know about this show, and I really feel like they pulled off the whole "everyones an actor except for one guy" concept so much better. I often forgot that was even the premise of the show in jury duty because i feel like they acted almost too well lol

I think next week should be skinny pop taste / smell test. Maybe not all the flavours smell like piss. Imo that is means to not eat a product. And you shouldn’t trust a product that lasts that long in a bag on a shelf especially cuz there’s air in it! Most chip bags are half air . They didn’t use special popcorn piss air 😂….
