As someone who has pretty regular echo cardiograms (I have a half of a heart) It's wild to hear Grace describe it on this podcast, it's like "I KNOW THAT!" but I can't image being a woman and getting that done, I feel like it would be very venerable. As a guy, taking my shirt off and getting it done doesn't feel as intimate as I assume it does as a woman. My (half) heart goes out to you!

Hey mametown! I turned 40 in 2020, during the HEAT of the pandemic. And it was the best! Just me and my now husband. I’ve always struggled with celebrating myself. I had a “not quite 30” karaoke party for my 29th birthday. It was great! Who cares about the number. Plan an incredible party and come up with the reason later. Forget about numbers. From a 43 year old to a… whatever number you choose to identify with. Love you both!

As a woman from the U.K i think about the Roman empire quite often but then i do live 10 minutes away from an old Roman fort and an old Celtic hilltop from where my tribe the Silurians fought them. Its part of our history. All the old roads in the U.K were built by the Romans.

I love it I can finally chime in on something! I am an echo tech, and I can say my preference is my patient DOESN’T talk. Hahahah. On occasion people talking can interfere with me getting my images. Echo is very postion and breathing dependent and everybody’s body is so different. So sometimes if I have a talker and their talking is continuously causing their image to come in and out of focus I tell them, no more talking 😂😂😂. But if the patient wants to small talk and it doesn’t interfere I do oblige, whatever they are comfortable with. But it definitely isn’t weird to us if you just relax and stay silent throughout the exam. I absolutely love what I do and love being able to have the type of patient care I do. Hope that give a little insight! ❤❤❤

I wish I had heard that right before I turned 40. Instead I heard it earlier this year right before I turned 44. But I decided I was going to enjoy my 40’s from that point forward.

The closest thing i can think of to the roman empire to me, is me and my sister every few months we talk about in depth the jon bonet ramsey murder, and the casey anthony trial. we have watched so many documentaries on them and read court and police reports. its all so fascinating. and ultimately sad, kids were murdered.

100% We take secret shots. Nothing malicious. I think it comes from our significant others questioning if we had too much. So we gotta slip a couple exta ounces in. Usually it's when we are also with one or more of our buddies. Specifically one buddy of mine and I would almost do it as a game. We even found a secret back bar in a fancy hotel and got drinks there before returning back to the main bar with everyone else.

Late to catching up on the podcasts, but yes men more often sneak drinks in before their wives. Had two guys ask for half a pint size of whiskey each before their wives came back from the bathroom even though they were already 3 drinks in each (double old fashions). 🤯 I said no to them so they moved to a table and tried again as if the order wouldn’t ring in at the bar. 🙄

hey y'all genuine question about the article grace read about feminism! I really liked the idea on embracing femininity. When femininity is not used as a method of control i think it is wonderful and fun. my concern is how certain trends seem to poke fun at girls in a reductive way. Girl math and the roman empire stuff feels a little iffy to me because women historically have been pushed out of those fields, because STEM and history are seen as masculine, and I worry that those trends only double down on that gatekeeping. I was wondering what your guys' thoughts were on when the joke is taken too far, or when it actually does more harm to women than good (I think often about second wave feminism and how that movement was meant to prove how women could be in male dominated fields, and these trends seem to counter that). I love your podcast and love hearing your thoughts, I'm not really online anymore so I don't know how questionable these "girl math" jokes actually are.

Quick note: "trad wife" implies more than being a homemaker (which is a totally awesome thing to be if you and your partner want that.) On the internet today, the "trad wife" thing is associated with "traditional values" (hating gays, etc) and being as anti-feminist as possible. I love the girl trends now. I took things so seriously as a kid and then I tried so hard to be a money machine, and it all burnt me out. I'm really lucky to have a life and marriage now where I have space for unabashed fun and girlyness. Everyone should have that (or boyishness if they don't feel girly lol.)
