How was she? They served 8 years. She got a suspended sentence of 8 months and a £10K fine. I feel for her but unfortunately ignorance isn't an excuse and she did something wrong and needed to be punished for it. I do applaud her for standing up and saying that she was wrong, she made a mistake etc though. My Mam used to be very much like Tina, she would have no idea when it came to technology and have to ask for help on the simplest of things. I think we digital natives (ones who have grown up using computers and phones etc and had to adapt to the tech changing as and when it did) sometimes forget that to those a generation older, the digital immigrants, this can still be a complete unknown. You click to share a funny picture or a quirky fact you find interesting and it doesn't occur to you that not only is that little click permanently recorded and indelible, but it also has a reach that can span the entire globe. Digital immigrants don't understand it enough to consider it and digital natives don't consider it because those clicks and the global nature of the Internet is second nature. It would be like thinking about how to breathe. It's a shame that she had to be punished for her actions, she seems totally sincere in her ignorance of technology etc so I genuinely don't think it was done maliciously (this may be the kind of characters she plays but I don't think she's the type of person to hold back if she shared it because she thought it *should* be shared, if that makes any sense?) but that's the price of breaking the law, you have to face the consequences if you're caught.

Very hard to say either way whether she really knew what she was doing here without knowing her, or seeing the actual post in question. But I'm not sure I'm convinced she didn't have an idea. She can read, and she knows what the word 'share' means, although this is a good reminder that ignorance does not excuse breaking the law. However, there's no way she was the only person to share this post, so it would be interesting to know if every other person that shared it received the same suspended sentence and fine? If not, it might suggest that the justice system thought this through and given her relatively recognisable face and name, would use her to set an example. The suspended sentence is a slap on the wrist, but the £10,000 fine? Excessive.

People who think it should be ok to share are missing the point and not understanding the implications or the reasons for it. The reason is that actually breaching their identity could perjure any future trials they are in and therefor defence could be made that jury are prejudiced. It could even mean a mistrial.
