Being a retired "maintenance mechanic" I have really enjoyed your video's more than you can ever imagine. The first thing I do when I see a new post from your site is hit the thumbs up because I know I'm in for a great video. Keep up the good work , you make my day with your wit and knowledge of the "mechanical monsters" from the woods. Good luck with your channel, and I hope that you and yours have a blessed new year.

That's a frustrating truck for sure. Sometimes a project needs to be passed on to a new owner. I'm sure you could fix all the problems but if you lost your like for it, it will never be worth it. Thanks for dropping a video this weekend. I hope you and your family have a Happy New Year!

Of all my Lube-Tube subscriptions This N That Garage is by far the most anticipated online time of the week where I get to sit back and relate to what Chad has in store for us this time. Got some cold liquid snacks 🍺 and a few slabs of 🍕🍕🍕🍕 and the phone is unplugged. Augh--Ya ! "Let's Go Do Somethin" Tennessee Style ⌚ Back after watching. Wow, what an episode.. There were a lot of up's & downs in this video, and just when I thought this rags to riches Cinderella story was going to the Ball, it looks like we have to take her behind the barn and do the right thing. This evil truck has nothing on "Christine," or "The Car" The ol timers fix tickled my heart. Happy New Year ✝👑 🙏

I was out in the garage for this cold making videos too and I'm ready for spring. Was expecting actual snow from that "blizzard" and instead got an inch tops and the sub zero temps everybody in the mid west got. Stay safe and stay warm.

Its been an enjoyable series, definitely a learning experience. Something simple that just worked wouldn't have given us the same entertainment or troubleshooting tricks so thanks for sticking at it and putting it altogether! I'm also someone who doesn't like to be beat so I get your drive to keep going through the cold, rain, snow etc along with the overthinking of what it could be while lying in bed 😅

The thing I enjoy about watching you is I thought I was the only one that all of what you go through is the story of my fixing things lately. Your persistence keeps me going.

I know your struggles with that Dodge. The company I worked for in the early 80s had two Dodge vans that shared an issue. They would run fine for various amounts of time and turn themselves off while driving, usually on the highway. After 20 to 30 minutes they would restart. Our mechanics couldn't figure them out because when they were in the shop they never acted up. One eventually got wrecked and the other blew it's trans and got sold.

I suggest the best fix is a for sale sign on the windshield. Follows the old adage "sometimes the car/Truck wins". Apparently it was the trucks turn to win, good try though. Fun to watch the good effort.

I've driven many miles in Dodge medium duty trucks in the late 70's early 80's and I've seen many weird problems . 318 with brand new distributer cap , one day later it's cross firing inside the cap , all the terminals were cooked . Another time ,pull up to gas pump , shut off 318 , won't restart . Camshaft gear split in two . Another , screen inside gas tank collapses after 5 minutes of driving , keeps running but can only go 30 mph . We also had a 1978 D350 with a 400c.i. and 4 speed , that truck never failed but sometimes after a couple hour drive the exhaust manifolds would be glowing cherry red . The manifolds never cracked tho. Also had a D600 with a 361 c.i. , that thing was so cold blooded , you had to pump the gas pedal 20 times , with the choke pulled out , before it would fire up .

My father had a truck like this one in the 70s, he bought it new, about 3 years after he bought it it developed the random misfires, it was horrible, he still ran it for about a year, Dad always said: if it starts go. It always started immediately. He ran into a mechanic friend and he told him of the issue, his friend told him: bring it in, I'll have it fixed in an hour. His friend had already listened to the truck, when my Dad arrived he immediately replaced the electronic ignition module and the truck ran better than ever. The old timer told you it's ignition and the one part you didn't replace was the module...... I think I'd get a new one at this point. Great videos!

Your patience, Chad, is epic! I’ve had vehicles like this, where no matter how much work you pour in, they just beg for more and more and more and give nothing back. I wound up giving mine away. That said, don’t feel too badly for not winning. It was an entertaining episode and an instructional one. Your troubleshooting methodology is very educational. Thanks for sharing it with us!!

Or, they should've called them "Dodgey". Actually, I had a '99 Dodge Ram 4x4 with a V-10. Passed everything but a gas station. 4 inch lift kit with 33's. It was a nice truck. Till the gas prices took off.

Oh also, If you by chance read this one.. I am curious (only 14 minutes in, but seen all the videos so far) i've wondered if it's just a worn out motor. She's just seen her best days and is time to go to pasture.. : ) One other thing, the shaking and all, maybe bad worn motor and transmission mounts?? Worn body mounts? Dunno it's tough but I hope you resolve this one.. I'm going crazy over here watching you go crazy of this truck!!! edit: well, at 20:00 in, clearly that's not it *not the motor mounts or any of that at least.. man this motor!! OH MY

I did a ground up build on a 73 Dodge w200, and it fought me every step of the way. I would fix one thing, and I’d move on just to find something else broken. I did that for a damn year. That said, my truck, much like yours, was abused and neglected for decades. Don’t get too mad at that old pickup, she’s playing the hand she was dealt. Them old tin grills are pretty tough. A cab swap, new wiring and a rebuild on that tired 360 would be cool, but you gotta love the truck to want to invest that kind of time in it… which is what I did. And it was brutal, but I think worth it.

I have owned many 318"s starting in 1959. I ran into this situation a long time ago. I think that carb is not the right one for this engine. I think the vac advance needs a ported source and has instead an unported source that probably went to the air cleaner (like another comment mentioned). Carb was suspect in the first place with the weird blocking screws and all. Great video sequence sir! Thank you so much....
