No such thing as a video that's too long.. I could sit in a lawn chair by a fire sipping adult beverages all day watching you guys working. LMAO Your home is a happy feel good place. Love watching dogs play, goats and chickens. Its all good. Its amazing what you guys have built from that wood mill.

The quiet scenes that you show at the beginning of each video, accompanied by music, add a lot of the appeal of your channel. Chickens pecking, goats browsing, dogs looking up in an alert posture, flowers in the snow, etc. It all conveys a feeling of tranquility that is somehow reassuring. Also, the song you use in a lot of videos (including this one), that has the whistler is perfect for the intros. It now seems sort of like a theme song for your channel.

I actually love watching you all mill your own wood, then plane it etc. and get it ready for the next project. Must be super satisfying to know that what you are building comes from your own land and your own hands! Keep it up. Can't wait to see the finished railings on the deck. Will seriously change the look/feel of the outside of the house!

Your using natural resources from your own land to build your own homestead I think that greatly outweighs the time involved in the processing of the timber, It must be really rewarding to knowing the house was build with mostly timber from around and were it now stands, That saw mill has been worth its weight in gold.

All the very best to you for 2025. The timber was so beautiful after planing, that as you said, must be so gratifying to think this was once a tree growing in a forest, then it was blown over and would have rotted on the ground. Instead is beautiful construction timber that I will forever have on my home. I hope you can keep your homesteading moving forward as you have planned this year, it will be your first without full-time jobs which must be challenging.

Hi Katie and Greg, it's nice to see you again. Nice job editing the video. I always enjoy the random shots of all the animals and of course the stars ... Steve and the dogs. It was nice seeing the workshop being used and it serves the purpose very well. You must be so glad you have that space now. Don't ever feel bad about a lengthy video or it's content IMO. That's what homesteading is all about - hard work, working together on the days projects and building out your vision. You two do an excellent job of that and strike a good and healthy balance of work activity and time for enjoyment and relaxing. I always look forward to and enjoy your videos and spending a little time with you guys. I hope you can get the planer repaired easily. If you do decide to replace, you should consider getting the parts to repair the other one to have as a backup, givent the amount of use it actually gets. Just my 2¢ 😉 Have a blessed week and I'll see you on the next one. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.

I’ve been a subscriber for a few years and really enjoyed watching your journey both making your off grid life style work and all the production work involved in sharing your experience. You’ve gotten better at both. I know you get a lot of tips, tricks, and critiques from folks, some good some not. So take this for what it’s worth to you. As I was watching this episode I was thinking it would be fun to come there in a camper and stay for a week or two and help out. I’m 75 and have lived on a farm and worked in factories etc., but I wouldn’t be a good candidate for a lot of reasons I won’t bore you with. But a young person or couple thinking about trying what you’re doing could help you a lot, learn a lot, and maybe decide if they want to try it themselves. Again, both the production side of making the channel and/ or learning the off grid life style. You both work so hard I think you’d be a good influence on young people. That’s my 2 cents.

With the curious goats and playful dogs, it's a nice way to start the day. Also It helps of you know what has to be done ahead of time. Katie's strong arming and handling those large timbers makes her almost a power lifter. They're very heavy. Keeping this up at this rate and winter will be over before you know it.

I guess you didn't notice Katie but If you watch at timestamp 2:43 to 3:00, while you were loading the scrap wood onto your tractor, there was a large lizard hanging on the top piece of wood. The top left side (your right side facing front of tractor) of that long plank of wood. I hope he made it after you put the other wood on top of it. I found this video far from boring. With your editing skills and using various incerts of your animal antics this video went along quite ...... smoothly. It never lost my short term attention spans. Well done you two. No worries at all. Very enjoyable. Me southern AZ. (USA)

hi there i found something you maybe want to look into and that is called " newtry rebar tie gun " in short, it is a machine that ties rebar togheter whit 3 steel wires, it ties/ cut and all that fun stuff, the only thing you need to do is to make sure it have power and wire and then you can tie the rebar togheter in no time and whit that then you dont need to manually tie the rebar togheter and be out in the cold and loose time and that could save you alot off headache also. i thought that it could be great to have one if you are doing rebar stuff for cement/ concrete and if you are doing fence inclosure and stuff like that. have a great day! :)

To see Katie playing with Steven is so cute. He loves his surrogate mother. If you use your equipment all the time, it's understandable that it will eventually break. If you get a good price on a planer, you might consider now a long term investment. With a new one, comes a warranty package with new cutters. Yes, milling is a priority for you guys. With all those nearby trees, some that fall and ones you cut, you can pick from a good selection. There has been true enjoyment i going through a process before you mill a log. Looking forward to the next video. Hugs from Santa Barbara 🫶🤗😘🙏🍷🌹👋🐐
