Ahhh..crap! Glad you made it safely home. We always have an old (but reliable) Johnson Seahorse 3 HP (1964) as a backup. I threw new coils in it and checked the carb. now it sits in the boat as a backup.

Hey. Thanks for tuning in! I lost 5 lbs rowing the boat in! Hahaha! It's simple math. Burn more calories than your taking in. I should be eating 2000+ calories a day but I don't. I usually eat 2-3 times a day and I don't eat big meals during the summer time, big meals just slow me down. No junk food! I cook everything and always cook enough to get 3-4 meals out of it. A meal for me would be thin sliced chicken breast with cheese, crackers and some dipping sauce or a nice stir fry with chicken & veggies. Count your calories ! Thanks again !

Well I think this is your call to grab a trolling motor, or a small 2HP outboard if you test stuff and you have engine failure. Being a windsurfer and having busted through numerous sails, I know how it feels to be stuck in the middle of a lake without propulsion. Not too pleasant. Glad you made it back!

Needed a air horn on the boat and give a blast to the guy.Maybe he thought you were just out for some exercise🤭I got one of those motors with the under flywheel PWRPACK for parts/trashed and seized.Screw that held power pack came loose and caught flywheel and made a heck of a mess under there and ripped wires apart etc.

You need two long oars that you can store on the side walls……and get two oar locks for the sides……then you sit in the middle and row……it makes it much more of a pleasant experience…………

My Dad had couplr them old Clippers - They Good boats - Hr always hsd & used oars- When he was a boy back in 30's/40's down in Keys He said He used to row about mile off shore to patches & Catch Grunts until afternoon wind came up - Then sail back take sell fish for couple dollars- Howhemade spending money-

we had the same problem on a mirrocraft boat and a 35 evinrude had to make custom jack plate we also had sever torque steer that went away too. great job! I know I told you before but a custom battery mount upfront and delete the steel plates would pay off just saying? keep up the good work!

It better to paddle in the front of the boat so you can keep it straight and alot easier. I had to do this 20 or more years ago motor crap out. The wind was too strong and paddling was not helping just waring me out its no fun. I left my boat on shore and walked along the beach to ky parents house dad towed ke back with the speed boat.

I've got a Johnson 30 pretty similar to this. My exhaust sits in the water though, is this typical? I can get it tuned in just right with muffs and a hose but when I go on the lake it stalls at idle. My thought is the motor can't breathe because it sits so low. any advice?

Hey. Thanks for tuning in. Your motor will have a large "blubber hole" out the upper center of the exhaust housing. This will have a mixture of exhaust gasses & water after the thermostat gets warm enough to open. Before the thermostat opens, it may just have hot exhaust gasses. But for the most part the exhaust exits through the prop hub- "through the hub exhaust". More than likely thats not causing the problem, but you should raise the motor to the proper height otherwise you have too much outboard in the water causing excessive drag. Maybe a small jackplate will help- anyway, it happens all the time- runs good in the barrel/muffs but dies on the lake- when it dies in the lake its because it's "under a load", sometimes it could be a timing issue or a fuel issue, its just so hard to say- Your best bet would be to pick up an OMC service manual specific to your year/model. It will show how to set up the timing & how to synchronize the throttle linkage- it also has a great troubleshooting section for symptoms that your having and sure will save you a lot of time. Check Ebay for a good used manual usually around $30. Thanks again !

You didn't have your mobile phone to be able to call 911 or someone for help? Or, LEGALLY REQUIRED signaling devices like flares, whistles, daytime emergency flag, etc.! With that shim under the transome bracket... even though clamped... I'd be real concerned that those might loosen up and the motor will go to Davey Jones locker without a safety chain always attached to the engine! Taking a lot of risk shimming like that... even temporarily! All this plus the engine problems? Thinking ahead & planning for worst case cenarios like this might be kinda good. It doesn't pay to take quick n dirty shortcuts. Lessons learned... I guess. I'm glad you eventually made it back safe & sound! Especially with a potential storm on the horizon. 😮 Maybe good to install some oar locks & keep some oars on hand! I've always had them as a backup in all my fishing boats. Way better than trying to single paddle. Good luck with everything! 😊

I think I found out why motor is not getting into power band 90 on top middle 90 bottom 60 man lied to me is it always rings and valves or could it be head gasket no water in pistons but black oily around it on head
