Tony...as a youth my father owned an Ornamental Wrought Iron Shop. He purchased a Hossfeld Bender with a gob of Dies. He mounted it on a Custom Stand he Built for it. What was really cool was he Fashioned it to a Hydraulic Ram & Electric Pump! With just the Pull-of-a-Lever much of the tedious Labor was removed. Thanks Dad!

I am never disappointed whenever I watch one of your videos. Informative, compressed just enough to keep things flowing smoothly and interestingly (ie, the way you move through the boring shit in fast motion where others leave in the part where they do things like moving parts around or turn every damned screw, beginning to end. It's very much appreciated that you don't). I like the incorporation of the old footage, and the brilliantly dry and sometimes dark sense of humor is like the cherry on the sundae! I salute you, Sir! You are one of life's winners. Congratulations and continued success!

It's nice to watch a craftsman at work. What some people may not realize is the hours you have devoted to your craft. In any craft, the fun only begins after lots of research, trial and error, and a ton of devotion. So many young people today, are oblivious to the sacrifices of a true craftsman. Thanks for the video.

Hey don't apologize for the voice over part... I found it the best part of the video. It's better quality sound, it's edited to smoothness, gets right to the point, whereas the live audio scenes tend to ramble or drag on, (Please don't take offense, I'm just trying to offer an individual viewer's perception). One of the reasons that Jimmy DiResta's videos are so addictive is because of the style, with voice overs that get right to the point. Content-wise, great stuff! The demonstration of use of the Hossfeld reminds me of the antique bending tool I kept in my toolbox during my decade and a half career as a spring maker. Although it could be held in one hand, thereby looking like a toy version of the Hossfeld, it was perfect for making forms out of music wire up to .125". The forms would then be mounted to sliding tool holders with the form tools to maintain squareness, ensure consistent tool engagement or part clearance. I was very hesitant to use the bender due to it's 50's manufacture date, but it became so useful I never regretted putting it to use.

Oddly enough it doesn't sound like clipping. Nice tip on the Hossfeld video! I've been meaning to get passivating paste for ages, just never got around to it. Maybe this is the nudge I needed. I ***really*** like the pyramid roller setup in the lathe. I'm definitely making a copy of that, although I think I'd put a live center in the mandrel. You could even make dies for round tubing. Speaking of misusing, er, adapting precision tools as pyramid rolls, I recall seeing a video of a horizontal mill set up with dies for tubing. I can't find the video at the moment, I saw it several years ago. In a nutshell, it had 3 equal-sized dies for tubing, the top one was keyed to an arbor, the bottom two in a hefty angle iron frame and pinned down to the mill table. The mill spindle was set to low RPM, and the bending radius was set by lifting the knee. They were making a very large radius, possibly an awning or carport cover.

Excellent video, thank you very much Old Tony for your time and philanthropy. I will soon be making one piece like yours, it is great. Again, thank you.
