I am a 59 year old metal bassist from Miami and this has been my favorite band for 5 years now. I consider myself a "Kitsune" and member of "The ONE". This group is outrageously good. The rapper, F-hero, is from Thailand, not the Philippines. 4 albums, 60 songs, many, many videos, the most amazing live performances on world class stages that rival anything Alice Cooper ever did. They started when they were pre-teens and have been together over a decade now. One of the biggest international acts ever and certainly the biggest to ever come out of Japan. I suggest ROAD OF RESISTANCE, Live in Japan as your next BABYMETAL experience. Kitsune dao!

Great first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊The fanbase is called "The ONE", individually they are referred to as Kitsunes or Megitsunes (foxes or vixens). BABYMETAL are like nothing you will have seen or heard before. You will not be able to pigeonhole them or to place them into just one box, so don't even try - they are original, innovative and unique and they pioneered their very own metal sub-genre (Kawaii Metal) ... and they have gone on to become so much more than that. They originally fused metal with JPop aesthetics (they are Japanese, so it is JPop - not KPop), but they have gone on to mix and blend so many other musical styles and genres with the metal. BABYMETAL are one of the best live acts on the planet (and have international awards to prove that is not just my opinion). They are currently touring the US and Canada with Dethklok (the Babyklok Tour) until some time in October and they will be back in the UK and Europe in November and December. They formed in 2010 aged 12, 11 and 11 as a passion project of their metalhead producer who was so impressed with the lead singer's vocal talents and stage presence when he saw her with her previous group (she was about 11 at the time) that he had the mad idea of her fronting a metal band and fusing Metal with JPop aesthetics - he thought it could breath new life into the stagnating metal and rock scene in Japan (as it was at that time) and might even attract a new and younger audience to listen to metal and rock. They are Su-metal (lead vocalist) and Moametal and, since April 1st this year, Momometal (backing vocals, harmonies but mainly in charge of dance, leading the audience, getting everybody involved and joining in - audience participation is a huge part of what BABYMETAL are all about). The third original member, Yuimetal, sadly left the band in October 2018 having been absent from the stage for the previous 12 months. She had ongoing (and undisclosed) health issues. Su and Moa continued as a duo for the next 4 or 5 years, supported by 3 dancers (the Avengers) dancing in the third spot (it was the same one, Momoko, from about February 2020). They teased the reveal of a new third member in April - happily it was her, so she is all mic'd up and singing as well as dancing now. You won't find Su-metal on Tinder ... or any other social media - they do not exist off stage. However, if you really want to know what might have shocked somebody going to see a concert performed by three sweet and very humble young ladies watch how they celebrated Su-metal's 16th birthday in December 2013 with the live performance of 'BABYMETAL Death' live at their Legend 1997 concert (Su was born in 1997, she is the legend) - then tell me if you ever saw anything more 'Metal' in your life.🤘 They have nearly 70 songs now, every one of them is different. They have songs in virtually every metal genre but will mix in other musical styles and genres with the metal. Some songs lean towards their pop roots others are just good hard metal and they do everything in between - so if you don't like one song no problem - try another, the chances are you'll love it. You already have some great suggestions for more songs in the comments below (Jake Muller has left an excellent list for example). This performance of 'PA PA YA' was filmed in Yokohama at the start of their 2019 tour. F Hero is a rapper from Thailand and very well known there, he flew in to Japan specially to perform on those first two nights of the tour. When BABYMETAL played in Bangkok a couple of months ago F Hero made another special guest appearance. 'PA PA YA' is a summer festival song - and yes it really is about a spicy green papaya fruit salad. F Hero was rapping in Thai to the same rhythm as mixing the ingredients for the salad with a mortar and pestle. They are pretty much saying that, much like the salad, mixing the right spices into life will make that better too.

I gotta comment on a few more things ... their songs are carefully crafted to include crowd participation..many songs have very catchy choruses, crowd chants, and obvious moments where they encourage the crowd to join in on some choreo moves .. and that’s in my opinion a big part of the appeal. So after a show, you don't leave thinking "oh i just saw Babymetal", instead you feel "ah i just performed WITH Babymetal!" The appeal is genius and awesome! On top of that a lot of their songs include very positive empowering messaging with heavy community connection. And Su, lead singer, has an incredible voice. There are a LOT of moving parts to this band and I havent found any other band where it all fits together so seamlessly and effortlessly. I'm beyond hooked.

Great reaction, I really enjoyed that! And I'm glad that your chat reacted so positively. There are still a lot of Metal elitists that bash BABYMETAL. To me they are simply the most entertaining and fun band on the planet. I have been a Metal fan for 35 years now, but I have never enjoyed any band that much. It's not just fantastic music, it's incredibly versatile, high energy, technically close to perfection, and it has this unusual positive aura. Also, they motivate me to open up to new things. I would never have tolerated choreographed dancing or Rap music before I discovered them. But as soon as they touch it, it all turns into gold. Phenomenal band!

Papaya is a metaphor for life. Som tum, Thai papaya salad (F. Hero is Thai by the way), is something you might get at a street festival, with singing and dancing. It's like life, best mashed together, the sweet and spicy. Babymetal is a force of nature.

Oh boy this is a hell of an introduction to Babymetal song for you! A few things ... no two songs sound alike. They blend lots of genres and cultural music with metal. They do very intense detailed choreo for every song which usually helps tell the story of each song. They are backed by top 1% session musicians. They truly are a marvel and if you give them a chance you may love it! I am 46, Dream Theater is my favorite band ever, and I never knew I needed badass cute choreo in my metal until now! My wife and I went to see them our first times ever a couple weeks ago back to back days in Houston and Dallas and let me tell you, no amount of live videos prepare you for their crowd control and presence in person, and the energy is freakish levels! Easily the best two concerts of my life!

Great reaction, thanks! Yes, "PA PA YA!" is about a spicy Thai green salad and it's also a "matsuri" (traditional Japanese summer festival) song and it's all about having fun. And yes BABYMETAL's appeal was mainly based (at least on its origin) on the "dissonance" caused by the juxtaposition of elements that shouldn't gel together. Like metal with "kawaii" (cute) aspects. Note that, in this video they are grown up (except for Kano who was 14 at the time), but now imagine this with them being 12 and 11 years old. Because that was how they started. I discovered them late, by the time of this performance took place (2019), but in 2010 it was like 🤯 And, by the way... you have no idea how right you are about the "owning" situation in case someone hurt them... 🤣 🤘🦊

You've just scratched the surface of something amazing. Babymetal are something completely unique in the world of music; there is no other act in the world that is quite like them. Babymetal is a blend of Japanese J-pop vocals, dance, and aesthetics with heavy metal music to create a fusion they call "kawaii-metal" (cute metal). They've been doing this since 2010 when they were just little kids, and they are still at it currently; they are on tour right now in the US, having already toured Europe and Asia earlier this year, and they play this song at almost all of their live shows and it always goes this hard. Oddly enough, Babymetal shows have the nicest and friendliest moshpits in metal. If you're ever going to a show and jump in the pit, Babymetal is the show to do it at. Oh, and Babymetal fans are collectively known as "The One", and individual fans are "kitsune" (foxes) if male, or "megitsune" (vixens) if female.
@jakemuller8626 Жыл бұрын
Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal journey.🦊🤘🔥 Nice to see more reactors getting into this amazing group. Fandom officially is called "The One", we even got a song dedicated to all of us with that title, and also we're called kitsune (fox) for male fans, and megitsune (vixen) to female fans, this is related to the lore and BM songs released way before this song from 2019, so no, we're not called papaya. BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old when started this and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms. Their name is a reference to a new genre and not related to their ages or "baby" faces, is a pun intended play words with "heavy-metal" which sounds similar to "baby-metal". They are: *SuMetal* lead vocalist, now 25. *MoaMetal* scream and dance, now 24. *YuiMetal* scream and dance, former member since 2018. *MomoMetal* scream and dance, she's 20 and is the new official member since April 1st recently. None of them are related. After 2018 you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of are official members, they don't sing, only dance, but that status change recently like i told you. Babymetal never have afraid of trying something new. In this case they are mixing thai rap with BabyMetal unique sound. Of course with the Kami Band playing behind this song is even better. Cool you found this live version since the official MV is with the same footage but with album studio track. This is a party festival summer song (Matsuri da), they're actually singing about papaya salad and mixing with other things as an allegory of life to enjoy mixing different stuff, in this case the thai and japanese culture. Papaya is a fruit. F.Hero is a Thai rapper (not Pinoy), top notch Thailand artist, and he rap about that in his part. Waving your towel while dancing and singing is a must and the girls love that. This song belongs to 3rd album "Metal Galaxy" released in 2019 but this one as well many more songs are exploring a different Babymetal side, sometimes more mature, but trying to not lose their fun. This one belongs to the Light Side disc of that concept álbum. The footage of this was took from BABYMETAL AWAKENS: The Sun Also Rises 2019 in Yokohama Arena Japan, F.Hero was invited for this, the night before he was really in panic with the amount of people and even throwing out after the show, It ain't easy to face that crowd, especially after receiving some negative critics from BM fans who didn't like his participation on this, fortunately he felt good and received a warming welcome. Also that night introducing the _avengers_ system, a group of three backup dancers filling the third spot that YuiMetal left (she left the group in 2018). They rotate so not always you'll see the same one on stage, the live official MV is with Kano Fujihira, she started this when having 14 years old, so young like the girls back in their early days, she's also here in this. And no, the lead singer and anyone of the group nor the band does growling or screamo, that's a backing track. Next recommendation usually safe to react: - _"Ijime Dame Zettai"_ live at Sonisphere Festival 2014, official. This year they returned with a new album and 10 new tracks, and right now they're doing The Babyklok Tour in the US Tour along with Dethklok, so hopefully you'll get the chance to see them live, also they will be at Aftershock and Louder Than Life Festival and this song is part of the setlist in every concert. I'm gonna try to leave in my next comment where to get clips safe to react if YT allows me to do it. Thanks for sharing this and see you next time.🦊🤘🍠

Here's the list of live performance clips usually safe to reacts without any filters so you won't need to rely on live compilations, there might be some exceptions: - Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! live at Legend 1997, SuMetal 16th Birthday in 2013, they got MV of this and is fun, but live is a blast. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gn-pmneNf81lfKM - Akatsuki, live at Budokan 2014, this is a SuMetal solo. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWOWaGV5arV9gq8 - Megitsune, official MV is my first recommendation but is usually blocked if you don't put filters, so if you want live and safe to react, check it out Budokan 2014. kzbin.info/www/bejne/moaWaXaPoNV1rKs - Akatsuki Unfinished Version, SuMetal solo again but with only a piano behind special performance at Legend 1997. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKjWmqGjrbmrmNE - Babymetal Death, live at Legend 1997, this is the big finale, you're gonna blow your mind with this one. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oIPGapeYnM51hqs - Catch Me If You Can with Kami Band intro live at Budokan 2014. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJibhpKgZcyjgqs - Ijime, Dame, Zettai live at Sonisphere Festival 2014, sometimes the official live MV isn't so friendly so you know what to do. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKCQkJaYm8mlj6c - Rondo Of Nightmare, with Mischiefs Of Metal Gods Intro live at Budokan 2014, another SuMetal solo but way different than usual happy songs. kzbin.info/www/bejne/boildZyCgrONmac - Doki Doki Morning, official MV, their very first song and MV full of kawaiiness, usually is safe to react so try it, if you want a live performance, this is the first proshot version with the Kami Band live at Legend 1999 (YuiMetal and MoaMetal 14th birthday). kzbin.info/www/bejne/eITNp2yFjtmKkJI - Uki Uki Midnight, this one is a follow up to Doki Doki Morning but way different sound, this is the PV, is super fun but the sound isn't so great but at least is live. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5uQhoR_odamf7M If you want better sound with the Kami Band, then live at Budokan 2014 it is. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4TdimyagZtkabM - Onedari Daisakusen, live at Legend 1997, this is a Black Babymetal song, is a subgroup with only YuiMetal and MoaMetal. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5W3YqytjrdoidE - Iine! again official MV hits way better but if you want live, here live at Budokan 2014. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a6Smp4yMg8p3Ztk - Karate live at Download Festival 2016, "kitsune6001" got this with a short interview intro. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHyyfWmsaLKXaMU - Road Of Resistance live in Japan official, this one is easily to find but be careful with the blocked by putting some filters just in case. - Kimi To Anime Ga Mitai - Answer For Animation With You, live at Budokan 2014, not sure if it's still safe, so try some filters, if is audio blocked try to mute or just cut the parts. kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2mpfKijq81grZo Here's a song you can find at Babymetal Reactor Resource (BMRR), a helpful place to get watermarked logo clips of the original live version to curve the annoying algo. - GJ! live at Wembley Arena 2016, another Black Babymetal song. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpiTg6yimMxrfJI This is BMRR short vid to follow instructions and get the spreadsheet with the full list. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2WTh6CKfbibasU And here's a BM guide (the long one). kzbin.info/www/bejne/nXXRlmOurNOcisk There's a more recent beginners guide at "Briaghh" called "So... BabyMetal began in 2010 there were Suzuka Nakamoto age 12 Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno (Yui left in 2018 due to health reasons). Both Moa and Yui were 11 years old All three girls were friends and classmates who attended an idol school/group (Sakura Gakuin) founded in 2010 by Amuse Talent Agency for girls 10 to 15. Themed around school life (they attended regular school as well) the girls would learn and train at vocals, dancing, public speaking and etiquette, etc., graduate at age 15 and then move onto whatever entertainment path they chose or that suited their talents. Key Kobayashi was a music producer for Amuse and heard Suzuka sing at age 9 and was impressed with her strong vocals and stage presence. Kobayashi was a fan of heavy metal but believed that the genre had become stale and tired (especially in Japan) with metal bands getting old Kobayashi believed the genre needed to be reborn (BabyMetal means the birth of a new metal genre). Kobayashi felt that Suzuka had the ability to front a metal band and that her vocals and presence could withstand the metal guitars and drums. The fusion of Jpop and Metal began. He placed Moa and Yui as backup singers/dancers and a phenomenon was about to result. At first Amuse showed no interest and the girls had only financing from Kobayashi. They performed at strip malls and small venues using clothes borrowed from friends and family. No money for a real band they had friends dressed in homemade skeleton costumes pretending to play instruments to a backtrack. They became a sensation (these young ladies paid their dues). Amuse saw the potential and in 2012 hired the best session musicians Japan had to offer (The Kami Band) who tours with them today (now includes world class musicians from the USA for tours outside of Asia). If you choose to explore more of BabyMetal I suggest reacting to LIVE performance videos as this is where they shine. They have over 60 LIVE songs/performances and each one is different. They are fearless exploring many genres and have the respect of the legends of Metal such as Metallica, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Judas Priest and more. Avoid Glastonbury LIVE performances as the sound production by the BBC (who was in charge of that festival did a terrible job - mics not turned on, incorrect volume levels, etc.) Suggest reacting to these for a start. Babymetal fans are called "The One". PaPaYa is just one of there songs. Originals songs from over 10 years ago are Gimme Chocolate, Doki Doki Morning is their 1st song. Newer songs are Metal Kingdom, Monochrome, Dusk till Dawn, Syncopation, Metalzim, Metali. They have songs that have a Latin feel, Bollywood feel, techno, Jpop, heavier metal, cutesy. They have toured with Red Hot Chili Peppers, Guns and Roses, Lady Gaga. Rob Zombie was interviewed and was very complimentary and defended these girls when some folks were talking smack. Very talented. They are the originators of Japanese metal. Many new heavy Japanese bands all owe it to Babymetal. They are still young. Su-Metal the lead singer is 25. However she is the Queen of Japanese metal and had been doing it for over 10 years now and been singing since she was 5 years old.

Welcome & Thanks from Japan, homeland of BABYMETAL 有難う💛。BABYMETAL is now going on North American tour (30 gigs in USA and Canada) with Dethklok. And this compilation video includes some clips of performance at The Forum, CA on Oct.11, 2019. BM is the best musical phenomenon I have ever experienced in my 68-year-long life. (Before BM, I was a stubborn jazz / funk lover). We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.) Please explore BM more. Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄

BABYMETAL is what happens when you take a silly gimmick and pour a decade of dedication, talent, and joy into it. They are a very rare jewel in the entertainment world. They are completely themselves in a way that very few artists allow themselves to be.

Welcome to the Foxhole. 🤘🦊🤘 Most of the truly important information has already been given in previous posts, so I like to give the fun titles and nicknames given by The ONE (Babymetal’s Fan-base). Suzuka Nakamoto\Su-Metal (Vocals and Dance): Angel of Song, Queen Su, Queen of Kawaii, Metal Queen, and Metal Goddess. Fun Fact: Bullfrogs are her Kryptonite Yui Mizuno\Yuimetal (Scream and Dance) Former member since 2018: Angel of Dance, Princess Yui, Tomato Princess, Kawaii Princess and Devourer of Souls (or at least she stares into your soul). Fun Fact: Yui is tickled by Bullfrogs. Moa Kikuchi\Moametal (Scream and Dance): Angel of Love\Smile, Princess Moa, Kawaii Princess, Super Moa-chan, Maiden of Mischief, and Headmistress of Hedabon. Fun Fact: Loves to troll Su-metal on-stage as well as torment Su-metal with Bullfrogs. ** WARNING ** Do NOT, ever, under any circumstances call her “small”, “short” or “tiny”. BLACK BABYMETAL: Yuimetal and Moametal performing as a duet while Su-metal takes a breather. Also known as “MoiMoi”. There are 4 BBM songs (GJ!, Onedari Daiskusen, 4 No Uta\Song 4, and Sis. Anger) which Moametal performed solo a few times after Yui left the group. AVENGERS: 3 Dancers who took turns performing the choreography in Yuimetal’s spot after her departure. They are: Riho Sayashi: Suzuka’s former classmate and rival at Actors School Hiroshima, often competing for the same roles. Former “Ultimate Ace” of the Idol group Morning Musume. Now a solo artist. Kano Fujihara: Former Member of Sakura Gakuin, the school-aged Idol group that BABYMETAL was born out of. Like Suzuka and Moa before her, Kano was Student Council President her last year in Sakura Gakuin. She is now a member of the Idol group @onefive, which is comprised of 4 Sakura Gakuin graduates. Kano only performed with BABYMETAL in Japan as she could not travel due to her commitments to Sakura Gakuin and @onefive. Momoko Okazaki\Momometal (Scream and Dance): Princess Peach, Vampire Slayer, Kabuki Master. Also a Sakura Gakuin graduate. Was contestant on the Korean reality survival program "Girls Planet 999" and performed in the live stage musical production of "Black Butler". Momoko was the only Avenger to perform in the “10 BABYMETAL Budokan” shows. On April 1st, 2023 Momoko was elevated to permanent member and given the stage name Momometal. Keep in mind, we are #notacult. Kitsune Da O! 🤘🦊🤘

BABYMETAL 101 Babymetal is a Japanese group founded in 2010 and produced by Kei “Koba” Kobayashi from the Amuse Inc. talent agency. Babymetal name comes from the birth of a new style of metal fusing j-pop with metal creating what they call Kawaii Metal (Cute-Metal). The group currently consists of Suzuka Nakamoto aka “Su-Metal” (25 years old) sometimes referred to as Vocal and Dance. Moa Kikuchi aka "Moametal", pronounced as Moa-Metal (23 years old) as part of Scream and Dance. Momoko Okazaki aka Momometal (20 years old) as part of Scream and Dance. They are supported by a rotating selection of talented male backing musicians known as the Kami Band (Kami is usually poorly translated as gods, but in truth it more closely means awe inspiring spirit, entity, or object) It is why they are dressed in white to look like ghosts or spirits, though Kami being used as God(s) is so common in translation the white outfits get lost.) Past Formations. Heavy Music Club Era (2010-2012) From 2010 to 2012 Babymetal consists of a three-member formation, Suzuka Nakamoto (Age 12), Moa Kikuchi (Age 10), and Yui Mizuno aka "Yuimetal" pronounced Yui-Metal. (Age 10). First starting out as the Heavy Music Club as a subunit within the Developmental Idol Group created by Amuse in 2010 known as Sakura Gakuin. Sakura Gakuin is a group that introduces girls between the ages of 10-15 to music, dance, modeling, and acting through Japanese Pop idol music and culture. Given a school theme, all three would be a part of Sakura Gakuin until their graduation from it in the same school year they would graduate from Japanese middle school or 15 years old. Suzuka graduated in March 2013, and Moa and Yui in March of 2015. Sakura Gakuin is a fantastic group with great kawaii jpop songs in their own right. During this time there was no lore, and the girl’s costumes were more punkish in nature, which they helped create. They also didn’t perform with live music, using a backing track or the “Skeleton band” people pretending to play music behind them. Music Video of this Era Doki Doki Morning (Debut Song) Iine (Pronounced EE-N A spelled i i n e) Headbangya Babymetal/ Metal Resistance Era (2012-2017) Starting in 2012 with the Legend I concert, Babymetal began its slow divorce from Sakura Gakuin, and was the first introduction of the Kami Band as well as the “Lore” that is still heavily involved in Babymetal but makes far less sense than it did during this time. The Lore is complex and involves a battle against other evil idol corporations, gaining powers, some time travel, running a resistance group, all at the direction of a mythical deity known as the fox god, against an all-power enemy known as Akiba. The first Legend show “I” was the Kami Bands introduction to the end, but it also had the Skeleton Band which is seen in the wildly popular Gimmie Chocolate Music Video. This was followed by Legend D, and then Legend Z, in which it was learned that Babymetal would continue as its own entity after Suzuka’s graduation from Sakura Gakuin in March of 2013. Slowly over 2013 the Skeleton Band would be phased out of all live shows, as Babymetal came into their own. Babymetal as it is with Su-Metal, Moametal, Yuimetal, the Kami Band, and a somewhat understandable lore is what consisted for the majority of its existence. Also established beyond the 3-member formation, they had 2 other set ups, one was what fans called Su-Solos, and it would just be Su on stage with the Kami band, performing a solo, and the other is known as Black Babymetal by the band themselves, which consisted of just Moa and Yui. Music Videos of this Era Gimmie Chocolate Megitsune Rondo of Nightmare - With mischief of the Gods Intro (Su Solo and a great expedition of the Kami Band) Road of Resistance Live in Japan (Co-written by Dragonforce) Iijime, Dame, Zettai Live at Sonisphere (Name means No More Bullying Forever) Karate The Dark Times, The Chosen 7 Era (2018) In December 2017, Yui would miss the Legend-S concert for health reasons, these health problems would prosiest into 2018 and greatly affect the 2018 touring season bring the “Chosen 7” formation, consisting of Suzuka Nakamoto, Moa Kikuchi, and 2 backing dancers Minako Maruyama, and Minami Tsukui. Changes they would not tell fans and all throughout 2018 communicate extraordinarily little causing lots of pain for all involved fan and performer. This era is noted by their strange armor like costumes, sometimes referred to as Elf Armor. To make the poor communication, and Yui’s absence wasn’t bad enough, one of the more regular Kami band members, Mikio Fujioka passed away after falling off a balcony in late December 2017 while star gazing. A beloved and incredibly talented musician lost, leaving behind his wife and only child. In September 2018 Yui formally resign from Babymetal, stating her unspecified health and wishing to move on. Babymetal themselves announced that the group will move on focusing on Suzuka and Moa. (Something many idiots within the fandom refuse or are too stupid to understand) In October Babymetal had a concert called Dark Night Carnival which added dancers, Shoko Akiyama, Saya Hirai, and Kotono, placing a total of seven girls on stage. This was also done without warning to fans and was an absolute mess. Babymetal would finish off the 2018 tour season returning to the 3-member formation with just Saya Hirai joining them in southeast Asia and Australia. Ending one of the most troubling times in Babymetal’s history. Music Videos of this Era (These MVs do not feature the members in them at all) Distortion Starlight (Don’t let overzealous fans fool you, this is OFFICIALLY not a tribute to anyone. A lot of fan speculation, end of story if they claim it is they are 100% lying to you.) Metal Galaxy Era (2019- Feb 2020) First introduced in 2019 during the Babymetal Arises concert in Yokohama, before the start, the “Avenger” support dancer concept was explained in the lore, and the concept thanks to communication and a maintaining of the 3-member formation brought Babymetal out of dark times brought about during 2018. Babymetal seemed to have returned to its roots with the Avengers, as 2 of the three (Kano and Momoko) come from Sakura Gakuin. The third Riho, went to the same performing arts school as Suzuka during the same time, Actors School Hiroshima aka ASH. Music Videos of this Era Pa Pa Ya Elevator Girl Shanti Shanti Da Da Dance (Avenger confusion) Which Avenger one sees can be confusing for those new to Babymetal. For the Music Videos, Pa Pa Ya, Elevator Girl, and Shanti Shanti Shanti, it is Kano Fujihira, who was just 14 years old at the time. Da Da Dance is a compilation of Momoko and Riho and a splicing of 2 different shows. In most fan cam videos of the American and European tour it would be either Riho or Momoko, as they toured with Babymetal in 2019. Kano had responsibilities with Sakura Gakuin as its president, a position Suzuka and Moa both held in Sakura Gakuin, and she’s never flown on a plane before. Some fans for 2019 did throw a stupid temper tantrum over the use of new Kami Band members who are from the west now known as the West Coast Kami Band, but like how the girls won over many, so did they and the payoff with the Legend Metal Galaxy concert in 2020 was well worth it.

COVID Era (Mar 2020 to April 2021) COIVD-19 has messed up a lot of things for everyone, Babymetal had to cancel their Asian tour, as well their big 10th Anniversary on October 10, 2020. Forced to keep it rather tame something very unlike Babymetal as even in their failures like the entire 2018 tour they do it septically. The question for many fans at the time was what of the Avengers, since COVID, Avenger Riho Sayashi has signed with a new agency and has moved on to other projects, including starting a fan club. Kano Fujihara graduated from Sakura Gakuin on August 30, 2020, a near 4-month delay. However, she and fellow Sakura Gakuin graduates Soyoka Yoshida, Tsugumi Aritomo, and Momoe Mori in the formation of @onefive. Which leaft Momoko Okazaki who is a graduate of Sakura Gakuin in March 2018 would be the last standing Avenger until she would become the new member of Babymetal. Music Videos of this Era BxMxC (First music video that isn’t footage from a show and featuring Su and Moa since Karate in 2015) Post 10-year Anniversary/ Covid Era Part 2 (May 2021-September 2022) The band stepped back from live shows due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and focusing on the sale of Merch. The band spent time working on a new concept album and was never shut down for a hiatus. Momoko had a very very short stint in a Korean Idol Competition Show called Planet 99. She performed perfectly, better than most of the other girls in the show. She even got the most votes in a small side competition destroying all the other 98 girls in the show in votes. This won her some hair dye (She was blonde for a bit). Ultimately be it dumb BM fans thinking the side competition was the actual competition, how the judging was heavily skewed to Korean voters, the fact that her fate was tied to 2 other girls one Korean and one Chinese, and or possibly ridged voting something the company producing the show has done in the past, Momoko was eliminated in the very first round. The Other One (October 2022-April 2023) They have released 5 songs on KZbin, they performed a show in January 2023 where they performed these new songs leading up to the released of their Album in March with 10 new songs. During January and February shows Su and Moa were supported by Momoko. On April First (Fox Day) Their new show played many new and old songs as well as officially made Momoko Okazaki aka Momometal the official 3rd member. Bringing Babymetal back to a 3-member unit once again. This all kicked off their world tour in touring with Sabaton in Europe then Asia and Australia, and tours in US in the fall and a solo tour in Europe in winter, with a tour finally in Japan in 2024. Music Videos of this Era Divine Attack Metal Kingdom Monochrome Monochrome Piano Ver. (From The First Take) Light and Darkness Mirror Mirror Metalizm The New Era of Babymetal (April 2023-Current) After doing what Su-Metal described in Interviews as the Training Beginning, Su, Moa, and Momo toured Europe with Sabaton, then had solo tours in Asia and Australia, before returning to Japan and having a few solo shows along with hitting the Summer Sonic and other Festivals in Japan before their major tour in the United States with DETHKLOK in September and a tour in Europe after. They will also be taking a shot break from that tour to go back to Japan and perform with Bring Me the Horizon. Music videos of this Era The One Unfinished Ver. (From the First Take) Metali (feat. To give you some idea of the deep respect in which these ladies are held in the metal and rock world they have either opened for , toured with or collaborated with a few small bands you may just have heard of - Metallica , Guns N' Roses , Red Hot Chili Peppers , Korn , Tom Morello ( Rage against the Machine ) , Rob Halford ( Judas Priest ) to name but a few . This year they toured Europe with Sabaton before starting their own World Tour - they're no 5 minute wonders but a band who have earned their stripes over a period of more than 10 years .

Saw them live just last month in Dallas- it was amazing! As expected, of course. There are still some dates on their US tour with Deathklok (the boring part of the evening), and tickets might be available. Worth a trip! They played this as their third song- it's very much a party song, about having a good time in the summer, with no deeper meaning, and Su always looks happy while singing it, as if it's her favorite thing to do.

Fun fact: Up until The Other One, PaPaYa's choreo was Moa's favourite. Now we have Metali, which is another Matsuri song. Who knows if it has become Moa's new fav? Fun fact #2: Papaya's rhythm is *very* similar to a Brazilian folk music style called "Frevo". 🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻
Pa Pa Ya is an uplifting song about summer. ‘Don’t stress, life is short, enjoy yourself.’ Fans of BabyMetal are called The One…there’s a song with that title, if you want to look it up. No, the intensity of this song is no fluke. Many, if not most, of their songs have it. They have been performing together since they were in middle school. There is a music video called ‘Headbanger’ made while they were in that performing arts middle school. Many of their early works were performed by them professionally. Headbanger is still performed today. I ask that you be considerate when talking about the girls. The oldest, and lead singer, Su was born in 1997. Yui and Moa are two years younger. Much of their music, live and pre-recorded, was made when they were pre and early teenagers. Don’t be a typical American jerk. Gate keep, laugh and be sarcastic all you want, but treat the girls with the respect they have earned. I’m not a polite, reserved citizen of Japan so I’m speaking my mind. Headbanger (early and later versions, Road of Resistance (Live in Japan) and Karate should get your review, assuming you haven’t already. Always search for live versions. Don’t let BabyMetal be your secret pleasure. You’re above all that. Share it. I’m an old vet, been to every state, many countries and most continents. I’ve lived in foxholes, trenches, caves, ships, barns and a luxury hotel (once). Yet, I never saw such an original, heart pumping act like them. I’m proud to now add a much nicer kind of ‘Foxhole’ to my list of abodes.

Slightly different from Mamamoo! BabyMetal have been proving that Japan is from a different planet since 2010. Back then, the concept was even more bizarre. Tiny girls in tutus being backed by a fully professional metal band. It just should not work but as you have discovered, it does. Many others have commented about them and given you a history. It is worth mentioning that BabyMetal MV's and live performances are probably the hottest thing on KZbin for blocks and strikes. These in my opinion, dreaded compilation videos are a way around it but you lose the spectacle and grandeur of the stage set ups and effects.

definitely should react to even more of their songs! I recommend "Road of Resistance" to see what some of their more rock sounding vocals are like, and Gimme Chocolate or Doki Doki Morning for even stronger dissonance between the theme of the song and the Metal music. They were originally trained tto be pop singer/dancers when they were 10 years old, so their music and dance often reflect a more poppy feeling that makes them standout from other mmetall

I think you would also enjoy the music videos for metali and megitsune. Megitsune performances are also pretty dramatic with masks and stuff. And the music video for Headbanger illustrates the contrast so well imo i think youd get a real kick out of it, it was from when they were much younger
