I just think it's so cool how TWIN sisters actually wrote Sisters of the Snake...you don't see that very often. ❤ I can't wait to read the book, it sounds like exactly my type of genre haha! 🥰

love ur reviews!! i was curious about the maidens since i've seen such polarizing reviews for it LOL do u still think someone could still like it even if they aren't into greek mythology?? u got me curious about the twist now!
@thisstoryaintover3 жыл бұрын
Thank you!! 🥺 And hmm, I feel like if you're into Greek mythology the twist makes a lot of sense, but regardless it was a lot less foreshadowed in my opinion than the one in the Silent Patient which is why I can see why people didn't like the book. But I can't really say though! I do think I would have enjoyed it less without all the mythology which I assume is how someone would feel if they don't know the mythology well! I hope that helps!

I have the silent patient so I'm excited to read that and ace of spades. Also, I'm glad that you read like 5 books because it normalizes the fact that I'm a working adult and I may not have the time I really want to read sooo many books. So thanks you made me feel better

Ace of spades was an EXPERIENCE. I felt such real parallels in my life in that book as well as being entertained. I do agree about the teen dumb choices thing annoyed me. It’s not perfect, but a Great debut 4/5 for me.

I'm learning that I definitely prefer stories that are more character based so I preferred The Silent Patient. I couldn't even get through The Maidens. Glad you enjoyed both though! 😊

Great wrap up! I have also read both of Alex Michealides books and really enjoyed both. I agree that the ending of The Maidens was a lot more shocking then The Silent Patient.

I'm not a fan of thrillers either but in recent years I've found myself getting more thriller books because I feel like lately some thrillers haven't been very predictable. I'm really excited to read sister snakes the most though. Goddess in the machine sounds so good, I wasn't very sure about it when it first came out, but now that you recommended it I will definitely pick it up.

Just added Goddess in The Machine to my TBR. I loved Ace of Spades, it sunk me deep into it. Usually YA horror is not near as good as this book turned out to me. Sisters of the Snake was also really cute. I really like the authors. Normally I wouldn't like a book with a plot/romance similar to this book but something about this worked for me and I really liked it. I love thrillers and I have not read any of Alex's works. But I have heard amazing things about Silent Patient and very mixed things about The Maidens. It's interesting to hear your thoughts.

I made sure to not know much at all about Ace of Spades, so I would have no expectations. There were somethings that I did not like about it. Also somethings that almost made me throw it across the room, because of frustrations, BUT....The concept and the thrill made me keep reading, which I am glad about.

I personally felt like I’m Ace of spades that there was an extreme emphasis on Devon’s poverty. Like in every single one of his chapters he seemed to get poorer and poorer and I was kind of annoyed by that. I did enjoy it overall.
@thisstoryaintover3 жыл бұрын
OK yes, I felt this too. There was a weird amount of emphasis on his poverty and the negative circumstances in his life. But yes overall I think the book was good despite that but it's definitely not for everyone

Finished The Rage of Dragons by Evan Winter. Gave it 5 stars and I don’t give 5 stars to anything. Finished The Priory of the Orange Tree gave it 4 stars. Multiple POVs are great as long as I am invested in all of them and I wasn’t with Orange Tree. Reading Jasmine Throne and Black Sun right now. Black Sun really enjoying. Jasmine Throne, I’m just kinda like can we move along please. Thanks for the video.
